I'm pretty new to SS.
I'm in the process of ripping my 2500 cd's.
Yesterday I finally managed to get compilations to work.
But I have a very mysterious problem with the sortorder when browsing
albums by name.
I can't see any kind of system to it.
SlimServer Version: 6.5.4 - 12568 - Debian
I think some simpler documentation would help. The Wiki does have a
wealth of knowledge on it - but Wiki's are still quite geeky. Sure
keep the wiki, but don't call it a wiki, just call it the Online
Manual (the average Joe might not know what a wiki is). Also I

the other day I turned on my squeezebox and it went through the set-up
up screens. It played for about 1 sec then turned off, turned back on,

Quick and dirty, but I use the following in DOS on Windows boxes.

This only prints down the folder level in a tree view. If you want
down to the files in the folders, add /f switch

have had issues with the QNAP and been given instructions to check that
the slimserver is actually running on the NAS.

also have mp3's aac's and others. Media Monkey is also excellent for
tagging, including album art which is nice for new i-pods with
coverflow (and should be good if i get round to buying the new sb

If you are unhappy with the sound quality of the Logik (it is a value
for money device) you might want to try the Tangent Quattro (available
at www.firebox.co.uk) or the Roberts Radio. The latter is a stereo
device, whereas the former is the highest quality mono device that you
can get with
yes, you can switch the SB3 between 2 servers.. just have to press left
for a few seconds to go back into network setup and pick the server.
2 things to note:
Static IP will make it easier to pick.
You need to keep the same SqueezeCenter version on both machines to
keep from having to do
I think a workaround in SqueezeCenter is necessary here. It is a major
pain to browse the music library with artist/album/genres appearing
randomly.

of multiple listings for some albums. As an example, Alanis
Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill. I get four listings: the first with
one track (track one)

Port 9001 is the correct port to use in a QNAP installation, precisely
because the pre-installed Twonky uses 9000 (SS is not pre-installed by

I'd love to make a script that ejects an audio CD that has been playing
in iTunes / Broadcasted via NiceCast / Streamed to my
Squeezeboxeverything except the eject is automated on my headless

I went back into iTunes today to switch its default CD import format to
FLAC - and of course it doesn't support importing into this format.

I would begin by trying a connection over ethernet with the Leopard
firewall turned off.
Also, what kind of router do you have? If you are trying to make a
direct connection, you may have DHCP set up wrong.

You can run shell scripts from the Squeezebox or web interface;
AppleScripts can't be run directly..
However, a shell script can be written to run an AppleScript.
Can you write the AppleScript yourself? If not, I think I can work it
out.

You need to use the web admin page and disable twonky media, as that
uses port 9000. Once you do that SS should appear on port 9000.

I think it would be a good idea to have the SB3 firmware move the clock
display across the display one pixel at a time maybe shifting once per
hour or half hour. That way the work is spread over the entire display
but doesn't move fast enough to be annoying or distracting.

multimeter. Even cheap ones could handle it and they can go pretty
low. But for current measurement you need to insert it in series, and
with live high-voltage connections that's dangerous.
