I have now clarified this issue with technical support. Apparently Perl
on windows will not work with double-byte characters in the filename.
There is little likelihood that this will be fixed anytime soon.
The only solution is to rename all the files concerned. Since I manage

You can create a shortcut in your browser with the port number added
explicitly at the end. You can call any port you want and the browser
will open it. I find having a shortcut on the links bar more convenient

time it is possible the connection gets weaker because of slight
oxidation, causing the display to show glibberish.

Using tcpdump I can see one IP packet every second (of size 1330 bytes)
going to my TP and my SB3 respectively (with small ACKs going the other
way) while the devices are idling and only showing the time.
That would amount to about 80kB/min or a little more than 3MB in the

Also, any UPnP servers like Rhapsody on / attached to the box that is
running Slimserver ? I can see how that might have some kind of
process running in the background which would push up download rates,

Or port 9000 is open through the firewall and some spider found it.
Someone could either download/stream from that (wasting bandwidth), or

I'm getting this HTTP message (140 HTTP/1.0 OK DATA etc etc) appearing
in the right hand side of the browser (default skin). If I press F5 it
goes away until the browser refreshes and then it reappears. It seems
to appear at the top so forcing the Squeezebox text down and bit, and

slimserver 6.5.0: when I've indexed my collection (some 13.000 songs) a
few items are not indexed properly. Instead of Artist they have the top
folder name and instead of Album they have the folder name.
Might be hard to
try clearing cache in Firefox (Tools - Options - Privacy).
If that doesn't work try a 6.5.1 nightly, there have been a lot of bug
fixes.

I have had similar issues with mp3 id3 tags that looked ok in the tag
editor but would not show properly in ss. I fixed them by completely
removing all tags from the offending tracks, saving and then
repopulating the v2 tags only. Invisible corruption?

In my experience the indexing has all kinds of odd little issues. I've
had to strip the ID3 tags from some songs completely and then re-do
them with iTunes to make them show up properly.
That said, use 6.5.1 - it's been stable in the sense of not having the

It doesn't sound like your display has gone wrong though your date/time
wouldn't work if this was the case.
The Slimp3 display is driven from the server and I'd have thought this is

different length. Try a video cable, which will have the correct 75 ohm

The inability of Slimserver to adhere to HTTP standards continues to
fascinate me. HTTP 1xx messages are informational but are not part of
the HTTP/1.0 specification (which Slimserver responds with). They were
introduced in HTTP/1.1, however RFC2616 does not include a reference
for status code
Click start, click Run, type in 'services.msc'. Find slimserver in the
list and double click on it. Set it to automatic. This should cause
it to start on boot.
