I do not see any option in changing from ALAC to WAV. All I see on the
streaming column is to disable flac, disable mp3 or disable wav. I
disabled the 1st two, and left the last one in, but I still experience
pauses during the initial stream.

The problem with EAC is that it is not a unicode application. I've CDs
in different languages and it is not getting the text correctly unless I

When browsing by artist, a right click gives a list of all albums. The
top item of the list is All songs. Long time ago All songs-list was
listed alphabetically - now the tracks are listed album by album. The
old sorting was very useful when you knew the artist but not the album
of a certain song
I use DBPoweramp Ref edition, I find it a lot easier to use then EAC.

I agree the powercord on the cradle shold be detachable. But insted of
putting a plug into the power supply (I don't think the the plug should
be on the cradle) they should have made the powersupply with a USB plug
- the SBC must have 5V and that is what is comming out of USB. That

It's probably your wireless network signal strength.
The channels available are slightly different radio frequencies
(basically). It may be that you have a neighbour with a wireless system
on the same channel, and that's causing interference.

I've shifted the SB receiver to be on the top of all my HiFi stuff, so
it's a bit closer to the router which is on the floor above. It is now
also less surrounded by nearby HiFi equipment which does seem to have
been shielding it - my signal strength has now gone up to

A few hours later and I had the same problems. Difficulty to get the SB
to connect to the network and when it finally did, the signal strength
was again down to 10% without my having moved anything. I can't
understand how it is changing so much.

Speed will be much better - 100mbs/sec vs at best 54mb/sec. I think
Wifi also has dead time between packets which will further reduce
throughput.

Man, this problem has been around for what seems like a generation now.
I'm not sure why SlimDevices persist in not having an Album Artist
category in the Browse/Search menus.
Is there some technical reason why they don't just do this.

I have been using a custom large font to display the time on my SB3's.
I purchased a new server computer, installed 7.0 (I had been using 6.5
on my old server computer), and put the custom font file in the
Server/Graphics folder of the new computer.

The console is just the 'noddy' interface to the server. WHS is just a
copy of Windows Server 2003 with some bits taken out and some other
stuff added. If you want full control over it use MSTSC and remote
desktop. There's no need to be physically in front of any windows

If you have metallic items in your walls/floors this can severely limit
distances for Wifi. We had to span a distance of only about 20' for
one connection, yet had to go to directional antennas on both ends to
get 100% reliable connections (heat pump pipe and electrical wiring
issues).

That's not *exactly* what I'm after. SqueezePlay appears to replace
SoftSqueeze (i.e. it's a player in its own right).
It's able to do both. In fact for now only the remote control part is working,
while playback is still in the pipeline.

that you sit a distance from the tv screen and small characters are

My server is a Mac MINI with external 500GB drive... that's what I
bought it for and it does nothing else. It's been on 24/7 for 18+
months. No monitor, no kbd... just power and an ethernet cable. All
my files are ALAC and transcoded to FLAC without issue. It boots up,
it works.

Squeezeplay is the software that is currently running the Duet's
Controller.
Currently, it does not actually play music, but instead communicates
with SqueezeCenter to play music through any receivers connected. So,

Both the SB3 and the SBR are limited to 48 kHz due to the limitation in
computing power of its CPU, even though the DACs are capable of it.
The Transporter's CPU is clocked higher and does not have this
limitation, it can play 24/96 and a beta firmware can play 24/88.2.

The thought of buying a Mac Mini did cross my mind before I went for a
NAS solution. The problems with Mac Mini are that: 1. it is too
expensive for this application (overkilled), 2. Rumors say either Apple
will drop the Mini or they'll bring out newer models using 3.5 internal
HD.

I found that if I do a rescan of newly added album/songs in the
SqueezeCenter, the tracks are all out of order if I go from
Library-Album. But if I go from Artist-Album, then the tracks are in
the correct order.
This is using SqueezeCenter 7.01 with the Duet controller.
