Recently I was asked to upgrade the firmware to use Pandora. I did
that, but now I can no longer access my slimserver version 6.3.1
without that requiring me to upgrade. But then I can not use Pandora
again etc.
I use version 6.3.1 because I run the server on a Synology disk station
(NAS)
I have 2 slimservers in my house for various reasons and I'd like to
switch between them with my SB2 and my new Transporter. Is there an
easy way to do this other than rebooting and going through setup?

I have the same situation on my Mac. Never found out the cause of it, or
why it sometimes happens and sometimes not.
I am inclined to think that my wireless connection doesn't come up
properly and the SB has to wake that up, but I don't really know.

Yepp my Slimserver runs on Windows 2003 R2 without any problems. Only
reason I use W2K3 is becuase I work with it all day and have Technet

Something like Tag Rename might be a good bet for you, assuming a
Windows setup.
It will definitely search by tag and also across the file name I think.
The latest version will also filter your library using MSDOS wild cards
(so *some text*). It will also help you retag your files. Free to try
Event log does not list any other errors other than
those related to SS or mySQL.
Have you tried removing the MySQL data alltogether
(Slimserver/Cache/MySQL) and start from scratch? With your hardware specs
this shouldn't take too long :-).

No cradle. Have to just hook it to ac adaptor, but there is a little
metal
There is a config file hack you can do, but in the case of 6.3.1
firmware, the difference between that firmware and current firmware is
probably too great.

The version I bought connects direct to my Squeezebox using a standard
ethernet cable.
I don't have it connected via any extension leads as I read somewhere
(maybe in the instructions, I can't remember) that this was not
recomended. Also, definately, don't have the Homeplugs running

eliminate so I didn't bother.
I use dbPowerAmp to convert.
But it had to convert to wav then back to flac in two steps and I lost
the tags.

Been reading about this myself...sounds very cool, although I'm hard
pressed to decide why these would be such a big leap from the

I used this technology very happily for some time, then it suddenly quit
working. Could never figure out why. I upgraded from the 14 mbps type
to the 85 mbps ones and it didn't help.
It was rock solid for over a year, and a huge improvement over a very
flaky (long distance) wireless

Since the CPU they'll be built around is expected in 4Q2007, I would
expect to see these in 1H2008. The thing that *may* distinguish them
from the N800 and other similar devices is price...should be possible
for Intel and its Chinese minions to turn these out very cheaply.

I have an SB3, which I use with a Luxman L4 integrated amp. Yes, the L4
is definitely vintage, but it was well regarded in its day and still
does a good job :) The L4 has bridged RCA pre and power amp
connections so I could in theory plug the SB3 straight into the power

them (and the margin is probably 50% or more). I'd keep trying to
contact them - as Skunk says, $75 is not much for them to retire to
Fiji.
