If you run squeezboxserver on the PC you can use a program called
moose to interface with the server (I don't know if it can interface
with the tiny server version running directly on the Touch)

Advanced tab defaults to formatting note that little arrow click on

under logitechs flag digital out has gotten cheaper and better, you
are wrong on this.
Digital out on boom or radio would not make sense, they are standalone
players with their own speakers not meant to plug in to your stereo,
you want digital out on your car stereo to ?

Yup all players get the downsampled stream 24/48 A decent tradeoff,
syncing streams with different formats would be hard it think, when i'm
syncing I do not do critical listening as I'm often moving around
cooking or doing something else.

I don't use it so I don't know it's limitations.
All the softplayers have different limitations and quirks compared to
both each other and a real hardware player :)

If you want to try out how controlling other players works you can
install squeezeolay on more machines and choose player and control
the other squeezeplay.
Dont forget to open port 3483tcp/udp and port 900 on the server(the
machine running squeezeboxserver)

Can you play them trough Browse Music Folder funktion ?
Do you use iTunes integration or have you pointed the scanner directly
to your music folder (basic page in settings) ? If you have a lot flac
integrating with iTunes seems piontless .

Build yourself a mini pc based on an atom mobo so that you can have a
real x86 cpu you be happier with the performance of SBS and transcoding
between formats will work (needs cpu/fpu) .
Put in the OS of your choice and go :)
