I've tried a Duet factory reset but can't seem to force it to use ethernet - I only got the option once in many screens of setting up on the Controller, and then it didn't connect. I *have* finally managed by trial and error got it to connect to LMS via router's wifi network, netow but this is not really what I want. The Touch is definitely a lot easier to setup for ethernet than the Duet ! I give some more detail of the setup and hopefully one of you kind folk will talk me through how to get this to work ... Home wifi = mynetwork, autochannel Router wifi = O2network, channel 3 Ethernet cables running from both laptop Receiver into the router. Tried disabling wifi in laptop to force LMS connection to be ethernet only, but couldn't get Duet to connect. Re-enabled laptop wifi connected to O2network, and also selected this in Controller as network to connect to. This has finally got the Receiver to connect to LMS and it's working fine now. Re: [slim] Running Duet receiver or Touch via ethernet ?
Thanks again for the idea of using my old router - got things working perfectly tonight ! However I am slightly confused want to make sure I get this as robust as possible (to minimise risk of disaster on the night). I plugged both the Touch laptop into router via ethernet (but the router wifi is still enabled). I then set Networking in Touch to ethernet and it seemed to link up OK. Both wifi ethernet were still enabled in the laptop. This method seemed to cause problems e.g. Touch seemed to show playlist correctly but always said stopped at the top no sound. I then disabled the wifi in laptop to try and force it use ethernet only (although I assumed it would use ethernet by default anyway given the choice), reconnected Touch via Networking to Touch and it works great. However it would be great to able to control the tunes via Squeezecommander on my phone during event, so I then re-enabled wifi on laptop, connected laptop phone to router wifi SSID - and this works great. Is it stable to have laptop both wifi enabled ethernet connected to router ? I am a bit concerned that the hotel wifi environment will no be as controlled as my house I might channel interference etc. to muck up remote control ? Also, will the connection between laptop server / router / Touch remain via ethernet even though wifi is enabled in laptop / router / Touch ? Basically I want the stability of ethernet for laptop-router-Touch connection, and also ability to control playback via wifi with phone ... Hope that makes sense ! Re: [slim] Extended wifi network - use same channel ?
Well touch wood, my network has been better since moving over to different channels. I guess, despite being the same SSID / password, the 2 networks are different physical networks which a device has to link to communicate through. And defined by the SSID, not the channel number as you say. Avoiding shared channels with your neighbours (to minimise interference issues) would also apply to this situation ? If different devices are connected to the separate networks (despite sharing same SSID/password) then I would suspect interference could be an issue. Now the strong signals are on different channels (1 6), and this also seems to dissuade neighbours from sharing these channels (I assume at least some of there routers are set to auto channel select) - these seem to piling up on channel 11 now. [slim] ? high cpu consumption of Android Squeezebox controller ?
Hi I have Galaxy S2. I have noticed occasionally when going to Task Manager that the Exit button is lit red cpu is 50% for Squeezebox controller app (nothing else running). If I quit relaunch cpu drops right down to near zero. Is this a know issue ?# thanks swayzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16575 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95234 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] IPv6 - is this going to cause problems of my SB devices ?
Hi I've vaguely heard about this being introduced that a lot of legacy devices won't be upgraded to use it. Will this affect home networks running Booms / Duets (either via LMS or MySB.com) ? Or is it backwards compatible with IPv4 enabled devices thanks -- swayzak swayzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16575 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92260 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Just 5 years and a bit less than 2 month Logitech has acquired Slim Devices
The Duet was purchased to be pretty much the centre of my musical universe at home (300GB library, 3+ tracks), along with Booms in bedroom kitchen. And it pretty much still is - I love it. Most of my music Lame VBR preset extreme encoded (average bitrate 256) mp3, so I probably wouldn't be regarded as an audiophile - but it all sounds great to me through my hifi big Cerwin-Vega AT-60s ! Duet has been very reliable, although probably not as solid as the Booms (this may be something to with the fact my Booms are always on or in standyby whereas the Duet is shutdown unplugged every night. Definitely not a mistake as far as I'm concerned. But others here clearly don't share my view ! -- swayzak swayzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16575 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92232 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] N routers cause any problems with SB devices ?
Hi I'm thinking of upgrading my b/g router to n (as I have some N compatible devices that might benefit), but gather that -some- b/g devices can become unreliable on n networks. Does any one run Duet and/or Booms on n network without issues ? thanks -- swayzak swayzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16575 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92265 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] LastFM broken for all Squeezebox devices
Hi For several days LastFM has been broken. On the Boom, if playing LastFM station the 4 arrowed selection button on remote becomes unresponsive. Normally selecting the right pointing arrow would allow me to love the track. On the Duet contoller, attempting to love the track just gives the message Empty. Anyone know what's going on here ? [slim] Add to playlist - please help me
Hi I'm sure that, when using the + button on the Boom, the selected item (song, album etc.) would be added to current playlist. This was a great way of bulding up a nice playlist. However, now it seems to add to now playing so everytime you select something press + it gets inserted immediately after the currently playing track. Before it would get added to the END of the playlist you were constructing. Am I being dim here or has the behaviour changed ? If so, can I restore it to the older type of function ? thanks swayzak -- swayzak swayzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16575 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72521 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

By pressing it without holding, selections are added to the end (as I wanted). Hi I never really considered this whilst accumulating my Duet 2 Booms. But what would happen if Logitech / Squeezebox went bust disappeared ? Would we be left with bits of silent hi-tech furniture ?
