There is a rather straight forward mod for the Johnsons to allow them to cover

classic tuner unit, but if you can stand doing that.
Mine came butchered. I didn't care, it was so scratched that I just pained it

13.6 Volt, 25 Amp power supply?
I really don't want my TR-7 to be the first test load.

In regards to the PS-7
Maybe it's just that 40M gets used the most :-)

anyone have a slick way to get the PCB loose?
Since this was a fairly abused PS-7, I first thought the transformer primary
had a high resistance short to the chassis. I still have excessive AC on the
chassis even with the wires disconnected from the PCB.

I have not tried it, but seem to remember a discussion of Kroil oil as
loosening the rust spots so you can gently clean them away. Not sure if this
was just talk or actual results.
Anyone tried it?

Neil,
I believe that you may be thinking of the TR7. I forget exactly, but seems
that there is an attenuator instead of a low pass filter below 1.5Mhz.
Communications Quarterly article from the 70s by Scott Prather discussed this,
and I think gave some solutions.

FWIW, Mine does the same thing since I have owned them. My limited
investigation found nothing wrong with any of the oscillators.

Neil,
I've plugged in a lot of stray and odd frequency crystals and they have all
worked. That said, the correct version of crystal will provide much better
band to band calibration. The frequency calculation as to where you are tuned
is much easier too.
