My new Elecraft K4 ( Serial NO. 1073 ) has developed a LCD problem.
I think the error is from my setup.
The problem is the LCD display is very slow in updating sense i was playing
around with settings. The display seems to be working but is
updating slowly. I have tried everything I know but
There is a battery in the K3. It is a coin cell for keeping memory alive.
If the battery gets low the K3 might indicate a low battery.

Last week at the Lobstercon hamfest in Brunswick Maine. I had an
opportunity to pit my KX3 against a new KX2. As far as performance they
seem to be identical. We were using a 250 foot end fed random wire and
running and running the rigs off of both internal and external batteries.

operating in my workshop in my basement. The rig drives my Heathkit SB220
which has the Harbach soft key mod which has less then 1 volt keying
voltage. This allows me to run up to 1000 watts no problem.

The cable Elecraft sells is of top quality but is only 3 feet long. If that
length is ok then get it. If you need longer cable you can build it. The
schematic is in either the KPA500 construction or operation manual ( I
think it is in the construction manual).
You need 2, 15 pin HD D
cable has 8 lines. If you use one line for ground
and connect it to both ground pins at each end, you have the necessary 7
lines left. I used this scheme to build a 15 foot jumper. It works
perfectly. I discussed this with Eric before I tried it.

attracted to the speaker through the chassis holes in the KX3, I applied a
layer of silicon rubber to the inside of the metal case where the speaker
mounted then mounted the grill cloth and spacer to the case.

with it. I use it with my K3 and they communicate with each other via the
DB15 AUX cable that I built ( the one furnished by Elecraft was too short).

The KPAK3 AUX Cable is about 3 feet long. I found that it was too short for my
station. It is great if you stack the K3 and linear on top of each other but
other configurations the cable can be too short. I cut up an old parallel
printer cable which was shielded and had enough conductors.

baud rate it can do because that is what the K3 utility is going to use.

pins 2 and 3 of the K3 end of the serial cable (after it was removed from the

This is assuming your sound card is set up for analog sound out and not 6

to make sure your compression (CMP) is set at zero (0) and keep the ALC between

and Digital Master 780 at the same time on my K3. I have not tried this with a
usb port yet but it may work.
First you have to be sure that your K3 is being controlled by HRD. Then you

seal cables when they passed through stuffing tubes in bulkheads (walls) or
decks (floors) we called it Monkey sh*t.
This stuff was really good in holding screws on the screwdriver.
