My K3S died a couple of weeks ago and I haven't found the power supply
problem yet - difficult tracing as I don't have the board trace layout
so finding components off the schematic isn't easy, LOL.
On a lighter not, I replaced it as the shack rig with my KX2 and I've
been having a blast
Turned on my K3s this morning and got a blank screen. Could not turn it
off after that without removing power. Haven't opened it up yet, just
wondering if anyone has encountered this and can suggest a good place to
start troubleshooting before bothering Elecraft's Tech Support with it.

I haven't seen anyone mention this before, so make sure you haven't hit
the "ANT" button and moved the selected antenna to the open PL-259.
Probaly should show ANT1 on the display. If it shows ANT2, hit the ANT
button on the front panel and re-select the right antenna.

Don, you’re right on about those West Mountain Com Speakers. I’ve had a pair
on my K3S since day one and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
My wife got me a second pair and I use them with my KX2 when I’m operating on
my back deck. Sure makes the KX2’s receiver sound super good.

I was introduced to the SARK-110 several years ago and besides being an
excellent antenna analyzer, it had one feature that nobody else had
(when I bought the SARK) and that is called a "Time Domain
Reflectometer". This allows you to find breaks, impedance bumps and
other anomalies in cable
In order to keep the robots from getting perfect copy on me either rag chewing
or the very few contests I enter, I've stopped using a keyer and have reverted
to sending with a bug. Not very many robots can copy even a good bug fist.
I'm of the opinion that robot copying and power over 500
post them to the reflector to keep Eric happy and clutter to a minimum -

19" runs directly on 120VAC and the twp 23" ones have small switching
mode power supplies that look like laptop supplies and put out 13.8/14
volts. The switcher supplies for these 2 monitors appear to be
virtually noise

also an MCSE just happened to come over this morning and when I told

night. Using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, I had been trying to find a stereo
mixer program that would allow 2 versions of MMTTY to run, one connected
to the left channel for the main RX and one to the right channel for the

I thought that was the way it should work, but I couldn't find it in the
books (not sure if I overlooked it or might be something that needs to
be added). Anyway that saves me a whole lot of shack re-wiring and I'll
be able to run two instances of MMTTY for SPLIT copy of the 2nd
Can the K3 be controlled using RS-232 via the RJ-45 while simultaneously
using the USB connection for it's sound card functions? I didn't find a
difinitive answer in the books. If it can do this, I won't have to
re-configure all my software and it would save me a bunch of time - LOL.

Thanks David for posting this. I noticed this from time to time with my
old K3 and now also with the new K3S. I keep the KPA500 output set to
around 400-450 watts most of the time and notice spikes to 550 or so on
the first or second dit when sending CW at times. I just built the kit
and
I recently picked up a Raspberry Pi 2 to use as a small internet
computer in case the main desktop died. So far I've been pretty
impressed with it's ham radio capabilities.
FLDIGI was pretty easy to get running though I haven't progressed to the
USB hookup on my K3S yet (a few other programs
Hit send too quick on the last.
The K3 has been sold pending funds. Thanks to all who called or
