I've not put this on the FAQ yet, but yes you can use the FM filter for AM.
But be advised it will degrade performance some with reguard to selectivity.
In transmit, the DSP will work with the filter and determine the TX BW. The
exact specs on this are not yet available.

John,
Also keep in mind you want to set the soundcard/line-in gain so that
you are getting 4 bars of ALC and the 5th bar just flickering. This
ensures the correct setting for the DSP to manage the power. It is
not like other radios where you want NO ALC for PSK.

You should also have some sort of galvanic ground isolation on the
line from the KX3 IQ to the sound card.
Also, If I recall correctly, the 0202 has a way to lift the grounds on
the input lines. Experiment with those as well if you are having
image issues.

If you are talking about rig control you have to run HRD. When you first
run it you will get a connection screen. Set up your COM port there and
connect.
Then in DM780 for PTT you probably want to click connect through HRD. When
the Radio window is open in DM780 click connect.

Ditto. And Don is not limited to the mini module cases. I recently
purchased a very nice N0SA key. I sent Don the measurements and he made a
very nice dust cover for it. Excellent work and very reasonable prices.

Scott,
Yes and Yes. If you are going to use the sub RX for AM receive then you
should have the 6Khz AM filter. If outside the ham bands you should also
have the KBPF3 for the sub rx.

Sounds like the CONFIG KXV3 menu item got set to TEST. This routes all the
RF to the xverter BNC outputs at low power. See page 49 of the current
manual. Restoring your configuration probably corrected it.

Aside from diversity receive it provides the utility to be able to receive
on two different bands at the same time.

It worked fine for me with the K3 as well. Had to build a serial Y cable
that, if I remember correctly, crossed over the TXD and RXD lines. But it
worked fine. Just remember to set the baud correctly.

I used it while using N1MM logger and I believe either COMCAT or DXLabs.
The tuner is passive and only listens to the traffic from the radio RS232
port. Any time I changed bands the tuner would follow and go to the
settings stored for the frequency range.

I have a Y cable assembly wired to connect the K3 to a Palstar AT Auto
tuner. If you need one of these let me know off list.

Steve,
I just tried this and I get something a little different. The mute button
did not come on when I controlled RIT and XIT directly from the radio. But
with N1MM open and the command for CLEARRIT executes then the MUTE button on
PowerSDR does come on.

This was sold but the person got sick and could not follow through. So...
One LP-Pan with the attenuator option and setup for K3 for $150
shipped. I can include an EMU1212M PCI (NOT PCIe) soundcard for $225
shipped. Works fine running NaP3 on a WIN7 64 system.

There is still tons of space available in the KX3! :) I want an
option that will emitt RF at frequencies that will keep the mosquitos
away while campingof course it would need to do this while I am
operating normally on HF.

That should be OK but quite the rats nest. :) I would suggest either
an HD15 breakout board from Winford Engineering or see if you can find
one of the LDG RCA breakout boxes. I have one of these and it works
great for accessing ACCY connections.

I don't know how many have noticed but while flipping through June's
QST I thought it pretty remarkable that most station pics showed a K3
being used. I should go back and count them all.
