The RTL-SDR has a direct sampling mode that will do HF. $30 is about as cheap
as it gets. Not as good as a real P3 but it does work.

Both amps and tuner have been sold. Thanks for everyone’s interest.
Thanks to the list (and Eric!) for the bandwidth.

The W6PQL splitter/combiner are the units he makes for his two pallet amplifier
kit. So they are being used well below the designed power level.

. This allows a single K3 to drive both amps to
full output even on 10 meters.
Connect inputs to the splitter, outputs to the combiner using (obviously) equal
length coax to main phase relationship.
Some assembly required but not rocket science.

What we call a “foot switch” is a “sustain pedal” in guitar speak (the real
market). The standard is a 1/4” plug. Buy an adapter.

True. However, the advantage of the K3/KAT500 (assuming you have the AuxBus
connected) is that the KAT500 will follow the K3 frequency without
transmitting. KPA1500 tuner does the same thing.

The B VFO doesn’t do anything in diversity receive. Both receivers are driven
by the A synth. B VFO is only used for a split transmit frequency if you want.
You are thinking of the VFO LINK mode where B follows A with a given split.

Use the command line options in a batch file. The options are COM Baud Port
timeout. Something like:
start KAT500-Remote.exe COM13 38400 4629 2000
start KPA500-Remote.exe COM11 38400 4627 2000
Insert your appropriate values.

does make a bit of fan noise on RTTY when dual CQing, but otherwise
works just fine. I have the amp in a closet so the noise is not a concern.

I pulled mine out a while back to understand the fan circuit and it’s pretty
obvious. Just make a diagram of the connectors so you don’t accidentally swap
one.

I think you are looking for the Tx line out monitor level. LIN OUT (from

Not sure what you mean by “multi TX contest environment”, but I use mine in a
SO2R setup. Two K3s into the single KPA1500. Works just fine. It’s in the
closet and I hardly ever touch it. It just keeps making watts.
