Webshield SMTP 4.51 MR1a with engine 4160. As far as DAT files, it has been
catching it since as far back as the middle of last month (my ePO records do
not go back any further.) Even if the engine and DAT files had not been up
to date WS would have stopped it due to us blocking all executables.
This has been a known issue with veritas products. The mapi32.dll file is very

of backup as failed. There isnt really much you can do about this, except ask the user

WRONG!
Issue Number Four: If Brick Level Backups are so absolutely necessary, why
is it that so many Exchange Admins on this list recommend you do not use
them?

Note do not assume the WS product will catch the EXE.
If it is in the first layer then yes likely it will.
BUT if it happens to be in like 2 or more layers (layer..I mean FW
FW..etc)
it will miss it...every time
But yes GS should then get it...if it's working right ;-)

That's right! Why do things the easy way when you can screw them up with
so much style! Go on, do your BLB's. Hell, while you're at it, why not
have your users copy the contents of their mailboxes into PSTs and store
them in their home-directories just in case your BLB's fail! That's a
good plan.
LOL! It's funny.
I insert one little word and I agree with you:
ITS ABSOLUTELY NECCESSARY TO *NOT* DO BRICK LEVEL BACKUPS, IT WILL SAVE
YOU SO MUCH HEADACHE AND HEART ACHE LATER..TRUST ME.

So its wrong because other people said it is. You make your own conclusions thru
experience and i have not found any issues so far with running brick level backups.
So andy give me some more logical reasons as to why brick level backup is not good
rather than just because other admins said
All you funny guys have not given me a single reason as to why you should not do brick
level back ups and your comments carry no value unless you back it up with some
substance..and hope none of funny cats are using arcserve as your backup product, if
you are i understand why you are so scared
Ao thomas shed some light and tell me what your exchange environment is...if you dont
mind
