I don't know why the installation is failing, but the big problem I see is that you do not have a kernel image in your boot directory. You should have at least 1 kernel image there. There is also no System.map. Maybe during install you are de-selecting all the Kernel images options ?? On

You're right, acceleration only works in 16bpp modes on the voodoo3. I get the same results with both Mandrake's X server and 3dfx's. Both give me blue and yellow dotted lines across the screen. Disabling hardware acceleration gets rid of the lines, but I'd rather keep acceleration enabled.

pop-3 is how you retrieve your mail from a server. "on demand" is fine for this and isn't causing your problem. You provide so little information about what you are trying to do, I doubt anyone will be able to help you. What is the mail server named? Are you using sendmail, postfix, etc.?
