[FairfieldLife] the light of God—which cannot be stopped or changed by anyone

"Maharishi said the basis of Invincible Defense is the Constitution
of the Universe—the Unified Field—the unmanifest, all-powerful field
of invincibility in nature, which creates and maintains the infinite
diversity of the universe with perfect order. 'With the blessings of
the eternal tradition of Vedic masters, we have the technologies to
make any nation invincible by enlivening the Constitution of the
Universe in individual and collective consciousness. This is
Invincible Defense in the light of Total Natural Law—the light of
God—which cannot be stopped or changed by anyone,' Maharishi said.

Maharishi likened his offer of invincibility for every nation to
that of an engineer who has the knowledge to establish an electrical
powerhouse—and who informs the people that it is no longer necessary
to live in the dark. 'The engineer proclaims, 'Take this power line
and live in light, today,'' Maharishi said. 'Like that, every nation
has been living in utter darkness. But now we are proclaiming loudly
to every government, 'Invincible Defense is available for your
nation. Take it and enjoy invincibility and absolute freedom on the
basis of Total Natural Law.''

[FairfieldLife] Kaplan cleans up on Boone land sale

2006-02-28 Thread bbrigante
A windfall for Kaplan, but also good for meditators who owned homes
next to Purusha, as their home values will go up -- they can sell
easily, and I bet most will head to Vedic City/FF:

http://tinyurl.com/q76pg

"David Kaplan, the developer of Heavenly Mountain, owned the
property then. When he started Heavenly Mountain in 1993, he became
the largest private landowner in Watauga County, with more than
7,000 acres.

On 500 acres, he built the nonprofit Maharishi Spiritual Center of
America, with separate campuses for men and women who practiced
Transcendental Meditation. Heavenly Mountain also included a for-
profit section of about 1,000 acres that could be developed for lots
and homes in the future.

But in 2004, Kaplan announced that he had severed ties with the
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a former Hindu monk who drew from ancient
Eastern techniques of meditation when he began the TM movement in
1958. In announcing his break with TM, Kaplan said he would pursue
commercial development of his property.

In January 2005, the Watauga County Planning Board approved Kaplan's
development plans for a large section of pro-perty. Three months
later, he sold the land, nearly 5,000 acres, to Ginn LA Laurel Creek
Ltd. for nearly $44 million."

[FairfieldLife] MUM sued in stabbing, slaying of students

2006-02-28 Thread bbrigante
http://tinyurl.com/q4fgj

Maharishi sued for not protecting students
ASSOCIATED PRESS

February 28, 2006

Two federal lawsuits claim the Maharishi University of Management in
Fairfield doesn't protect its students.

The lawsuits were filed separately in U.S. District Court by John
Killian, 23, a former student, and the family of Levi Butler, a
student who was killed in a stabbing on campus in 2004.

Butler was stabbed several times in the chest with a paring knife on
March 1, 2004 in the campus dining hall. The attack came several
hours after Killian was stabbed in the face with a ball point pen.

Shuvender Sem, 26, of Lancaster, Pa., was found not guilty by reason
of insanity in the attacks and committed to the Iowa Medical and
Classification Center at Oakdale.

The lawsuits, filed last Friday, claim the required twice-daily
regimen of meditation was dangerous for a mentally ill student.

``In particular, transcendental meditation can magnify psychological
problems, including the likelihood and severity of aggressive and
violent behavior,'' the lawsuits said.

The lawsuits say university employees ignored the first attack,
resuming classes and blaming the attack on Sem's improper meditation.

Sem was placed in the custody of Joel Wynsong, the university's dean
of men, and taken to Wynsong's apartment on campus, where he stole a
paring knife, court documents said.

He then fled the apartment and went to the dining hall where he
stabbed Butler, records show.

The lawsuits allege the university was negligent for failing to
recognize the threat Sem posed to students, reporting the initial
attack to authorities and keeping Sem away from other students after
he attacked Killian.

``We are very much looking forward to have the opportunity to bring
to light the events that lead to Levi Butler's death,'' said Stephen
Eckley, the Butler family's attorney.

Bill Goldstein, a lawyer for the school, said he was unaware of the
lawsuits and would have to review them before commenting.

If Sem had only been involved in twice-daily TM, that might have
been OK, but students were being told to meditate 10 minutes out of
each class hour, effectively doubling meditation time, clearly not
suitable for an unstable guy like Sem, who should have been allowed
to opt out of participation in these extra TM sessions.

MUM does have insurance coverage, and I suspect that there will be a
settlement if the insurance company (whose lawyers are now in the
driver's seat in representing MUM in this case) sees the trial as
going badly for the MUM position, and I think it will.

It's possible that the judgment will be so large that MUM will have
to pay something, but the TMO has sold a bunch of hotels in the USA
over the last two years, so they will have enough to cover whatever
the insurance company does not.

Yeah, like enlightenment -- other types of meditation, which don't
provide any light, but just dullness, don't create any problem for the
mentally ill, because they do not introduce any light into their
darkness, destabilizing their patched-together personalities. It's
because TM is a powerful and effective meditation technique that
overuse or inappropriate use (one size does not fit all in terms of
time appropriate for TM practice) can result in destabilization
episodes.

Many mentally-ill people who learn TM are told to only meditate for
10 mins/twice a day. Sem was doing 80 minutes a day in a group
setting, way too much for an unstable guy. MUM should let students opt
out of meditation completely, but this would mean that MUM
administrators would not being able to get their jollies exercising
totalitarian control over their subjects.

Ah, another vart from the great vaj-ay-jay, who gets his wisdom from
the "Big Book of Demons," like the brilliant notion that sticking
pins in people says whether they're enlightened or not. I'll stick
with recommending TM, and ignoring your dumb ass, of course.

Not that it matters to a personality like yours, which is only about
half a click from that of Sem, but I make it real clear at my web
site that Sem should have been controlled after the stabbing:

http://geocities.com/bbrigante/index.html#murder

MUM was planning to put Sem on a plane home the next morning, so
they cannot claim that they did not see him as a serious threat. MUM
mgmt was just negligent in handling the situation, and they'll pay
for it.

It's the insurance company that will need to pay for the defense, not
MUM, and it's unlikely that the judgment would be so large that MUM
would have to cough up any money to pay it off, although they might
get cancelled by their current insurance carrier and have to pay
higher rates with somebody else because of their negligent mgmt.

If you find out who the insurance company's lawyer is from the court
papers, you could find out. I'm only 100% sure that there is an
insurance company involved, but I do not know the details, and am
not interested in doing the legwork.

Not much point in polling the list for an answer to what enlightenment
is like, since MMY, somebody who knows what he is talking about (a
nice contrast to this list), has written a lot on the subject in his
commentary on the Gita, like this from Ch. 3, v. 8:

"Meditation is the key to the performance of one's allotted duty. It
is a direct way to make glorious every aspect of life, for it
transforms a life of bondage in the world into the divine life of
eternal freedom in cosmic consciousness, where one experiences the
Self as separate from activity.
Cosmic consciousness in turn develops into God-consciousness through
devotion, the most highly refined type of action, which unites in the
light of God the two separate aspects of cosmic consciousness, the
Self and activity. This is the blessing of action, that it leads one
from the waking state of consciousness to transcendental pure
consciousness, thence to cosmic consciousness and finally to God-
consciousness, the highest state of human evolution."

The decision to settle before trial was up to the insurance company,
not MUM, and the parties apparently could not agree on a settlement
figure, so the trial is on. MUM has nothing to do with any
settlement decision, unless the number that the plaintiffs want or
the jury awards is so large that MUM would have to pay out of pocket.

My guess is that the insurance company will make a better offer once
the trial is in progress. It's not unusual for the insurance company
to make a much bigger offer to settle after the trial is over, while
awaiting the jury verdict, which can always go either way.

Just because some bonehead posts here that Kaplan was "ripped off" for
$16 million does not make it true. Kaplan said all kinds of things
about the TMO when he split, but being ripped off was not one of the
claims -- Kaplan simply said that he was ill-treated after donating
millions of dollars.

[FairfieldLife] Sanskrit

2006-03-02 Thread bbrigante
http://www.centralchronicle.com/20060303/0303302.htm

Sanskrit and Macaulayan education

"Literally meaning "refined and sanctified", and priding itself as
cultured, Sanskrit is acclaimed as the best, sweetest and divine
language (bhashasu mukhya madhura divya geervaan bharati). Sanskrit
is the divine language revealed through the sages (Sanskritam naam
daivi vaak anavyakhyata maharshibhihi). But though excepting
Tirukkural which is in Tamil, almost all Hindu scriptures like
Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana and Mahabharata are written in Sanskrit,
Sanskrit has been driven out of Indian schools and colleges by
Macaulay's education introduced in India in 1835.

Macaulayan education downgraded Indian languages including Sanskrit
and replaced them with English. This education was introduced to de-
Hinduize Hindus as is evident in Macaulay's following letter dated
October 12, 1836 to his evangelist father,

"Our English schools are flourishing wonderfully; we find it
difficult to provide instruction to all. The effect of this
education on Hindus is prodigious. No Hindu who has received an
English education ever remains sincerely attached to his religion.
It is my firm belief that if our plans of education are followed up,
there will not be a single idolater among the respected classes 30
years hence. And this will be effected without our efforts to
proselytize; I heartily rejoice in the prospect."

De-Hinduized by Macaulayan education, and brain washed by Macaulayan
media, most of Hindu intellectuals, MBAs, business persons, doctors,
lawyers, chartered accountants, engineers, teachers and the rest are
self-alienated and do not know Sanskrit, and do not know much about
Hindu religion or heritage, or about Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana,
Mahabharata or Tirukkural.

India was expected to discard Macaulayism after the British left in
1947. On September 10, 1949, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar even sponsored an
amendment making Sanskrit as the official language of India. But the
said amendment was defeated in the Constituent Assembly. However,
Sanskrit was included in the Eighth Schedule of Indian Constitution.

But shockingly, Macaulay's missionary-oriented colonial education
and neglect of Sanskrit is still gripping Independent India. After
banishing Sanskrit from Indian schools and colleges, Macaulayists
call Sanskrit 'the dead language'.

[FairfieldLife] Maharishi Ayur Veda Reduces Toxic Chemicals

2006-03-08 Thread bbrigante
Study: Maharishi Ayur Veda Reduces Toxic Chemicals

Banned PCBs and agrochemicals in blood reduced 50 percent by
centuries-old
detoxification procedure.

Study published in the Sept./Oct. 2002 issue of Alternative
Therapies in
Health and Medicine, Vol. 8, No. 5, pp. 93-103.

- PRESS RELEASE -

Banned PCBs and Agrochemicals in Blood Reduced 50 Percent
By Centuries-Old Detoxification Procedure, Study Shows

---
"The issue of possible human health effects of persistent
organochlorine
substances is an ongoing concern and area of important scientific
investigation. This report has implications for the mobilization of
and
clearance of persistent fat-soluble xenobiotics and could serve as a
stepping-stone towards randomized controlled trials on the efficacy
of these
methods." - Laurence Fuortes, M.D., Professor, College of Public
Health,
University of Iowa
---

Toxic occupational and agricultural chemicals that are stored in the
body-and known to cause disease-can be significantly reduced by an
Ayurvedic
detoxification procedure, according to a report released today.

The study, published in the Sept./Oct. 2002 issue of Alternative
Therapies
in Health and Medicine, found that a centuries-old purification
procedure
derived from the Ayurvedic medical system of India reduced several
fat-soluble toxicants by about 50 percent.

"This is the first published study on humans to demonstrate that a
specific
detoxification regimen can significantly reduce levels of lipophilic
toxicants in the blood that are known to be associated with
disease," says
Robert Herron, Ph.D., lead author of the study and Director of
Research at
the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy at Maharishi
University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.

Cross-sectional and Longitudinal Comparisons

The study consisted of two parts: a cross-sectional comparison and a
longitudinal pre- and post-treatment.

Eighty-eight subjects, age 45 years and older, participated in the
cross-sectional study: 48 had previously undergone the detoxification
procedure an average of 18 times and 40 had not. Blood samples from
both
groups were sent to the Analytical Laboratory in the Department of
Environmental Health at Colorado State University that was blind to
the
treatment status of the subjects.

PCBs and Pesticides Found in Blood Samples

Blood samples from both cross-sectional groups were assayed for 17
lipophilic toxicants, including 9 polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB)
congeners
and 8 pesticides and metabolites, such as DDE, a by-product of DDT.
The
specific PCBs and pesticides that were studied either had been
previously
linked to major health problems or have been of high concern for
their
potential toxicity.

The results showed blood levels of PCBs and several pesticides were
significantly lower in the detoxification group than in the controls.

Herron says that lipophilic toxicants are generally considered to be
among
the most problematic environmental contaminants and many of them
have been
banned in the U.S. for decades. Because of their fat-soluble nature
and
their long half-lives, they tend to accumulate in plants and animals
and
bio-magnify up the food chain, increasing in humans with age.
Previous
studies show that these toxicants have been associated with hormone
disruption, immune system suppression, reproductive disorders,
several types
of cancer, and other diseases.

Lipophil-mediated Detoxification Procedure

In the longitudinal study, blood samples from 15 subjects who
participated
in the Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health (MVAH) Ayurvedic
detoxification
procedure were assayed, pre- and post-treatment, by CSU's Analytical
Laboratory.

Ayurveda dates back thousands of years in India and is recognized by
the
World Health Organization as a complete system of natural medicine.
However,
due to several foreign invasions over the centuries, it has been
slowly, but
substantially altered. Starting in 1984, Ayurveda was restored and
standardized in accordance with the classical texts of India under
the
direction of a leading Vedic scholar, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the
founder of
Maharishi University of Management and world-renowned for
introducing the
Transcendental Meditation® technique.

Striking Reductions in PCBs and Beta-HCH Levels

The results of the two-month longitudinal study showed that PCBs and
Beta-HCH levels were reduced by 46 percent and 58 percent
respectively in
the MVAH detoxification group. Without this intervention, the
expected drop
in PCBs and Beta-HCH over two months would be only a fraction of one
percent. Previously, no method had been scientifically verified to
reduce
levels of these lipid-soluble toxicants in the human body without
causing
negative side effects.

How Lipophil-mediated Detoxification May Work

Lipophilic toxicants are stored in lipids, or fats, in the body, and
are

[FairfieldLife] What you see you become

What you see you become

Shiksha talk, 25.1.06

MAHARISHI: Shiksha is that which brings total knowledge to human
awareness. It unfolds. It doesn`t do anything. It just doesn`t do
anything. It informs. And it makes you not only intellectual
understand in an abstract manner but opens your eyes and see. Move
your head and touch it. Smell it. Taste it. Experience it.

In the whole structure of experience one should know that anything
that one experiences one becomes it. You become what you experience.
You actually become what you experience. That is why the Vedic
field is very very sensitive what you are allowed to see, what you
are not allowed to see, on these surface behavioural values of life.
Very sensitive because of what you see you become. Anything you see
you become it.

When you see anything that thing jumps and occupies you in your
eyes. When you hear something you have it on your ears. The
physiology is an instrument on which the imprint of the object of
sight comes. And that is what makes you to see it.

The same thing is true in the field of knowing. What you know
intellectually you become it. What you know you become it. When you
know there is treasury under your room then you are a millionaire.
As long as you don`t know...

So Shiksha unfolds. Unfolding, what it unfolds ultimately, it
unfolds cosmic total knowledge in the little human brain. That is
human life. This is education.

Nope. The judges don't have the money to pay for probationers'
instruction fees, so Anklesaria is doing it off the ranch. The TMO
is not suing him because the probationers would not ordinarily be TM
customers, not having the money or inclination to start TM outside
of the context of being sentenced to do so. This is a contrast to
the case of the Florida TM teacher being sued for siphoning off
regular TM customers in an area with an active TM center.

The Florida teacher is saying he teaches TM, but I forgot that
Anklesaria is no longer using protected trademarks -- he's calling
it the "Transcendental Stress Management program," so there is no
basis for the TMO to sue him (unless the TMO can make the case that
the public would confuse TM with the TSMP). This is a move you would
expect from an attorney, while the Florida teacher is trying to take
on the TMO head-on, and it's unlikely that he will win, since the
TMO has always protected its trademarks:

[FairfieldLife] Odor-smellers say livestock isn't so stinky

2006-03-09 Thread bbrigante
http://tinyurl.com/mjkdu

"...the state's requirement that confinements be a certain distance
from homes is working, said Eldon McAfee, lawyer for the Iowa Pork
Producers Association.

"It shows the separation distance is working. We have good odor
control, even at the fence line," he said.

Members of the nonprofit Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement,
which has organized rural residents in opposition to large hog
confinements, said the study stinks as much as the hogs.

CCI member Vern Tigges lives six miles south of Carroll, near 30,000
hogs. He said he has vomited some days, gagging from the stench. On
other days, he said he has hardly been able to smell the manure.

"We need regulations, and we need them now,'' Tigges said.

University of Iowa environmental health scientist Peter Thorne, co-
author of a university report that called for odor regulations, said
the study was flawed by not measuring early in the morning and at
night, when lower winds would have brought stronger odors.

Fitzsimmons said that's a valid criticism, but "we don't have a 24-
hour staff."

Here's some photos of the pundit facility in the Brahmastan of India:

This site says 200,000 pundits are being trained in India:

[FairfieldLife] Experience of Devatas

2006-03-13 Thread bbrigante
Global Press Conference: February 8, 2006

Dr. Hagelin: Thank you very much, Maharishi: Maharishi spoke
last week about how Veda and Vedic literature is the text of Total
Natural Law, the Constitution of the Universe. Maharishi also said
that through Transcendental Meditation, the text of Total Natural
Law can be made consciously lively in an individual mind. I always
understood that meditation takes the mind to the field of silence,
and I believe I know what that experience is like. But I don't think
I've experienced the text of Total Natural Law in that silence. How
and when does the text of Total Natural Law dawn in human awareness?
What is that experience like? And what is the practical value in
daily life of experiencing the text of Total Natural Law?

Maharishi: You have to practice advanced techniques of
Transcendental Meditation. And in those advanced techniques, you'll
experience, through practice, that which is Total Natural Law, where
two contradictory values—positive and negative: that is,
constructive and destructive; that is, collapsing and emerging—the
two you will see simultaneously, where consciousness on one side is
language, in terms of sounds, [and] on the other side, in terms of
physiology. There you will see how the physiology is resulting from
field of consciousness. It's an experience; it's an experience.

So you take advanced techniques of Yogic Flying, Sidhi program, and
you will experience that when the mind gradually, gradually becomes
more capable of refined perception, on that level you'll be able to
see, "Yes: this is positive, this is negative; this is collapsing,
this is emerging"—two different values—"This is silence, this is
dynamism." It's an experience; it's an experience; it's an
experience.

And then you'll see, "Yes"—what is the sound of the Veda, and what
is the gap between two sounds: the word and the gap and the word and
the gap. This is what the flow of Veda is. It's an experience on
your own level of consciousness.

And there you will feel—and there you will feel: What you'll feel?
Those agencies which are called Devatas. You'll see the Devatas in
the words of the Veda, and you'll see different Devatas changing the
words of the Veda in the gaps. The secret of the Devata is in the
gaps. And the gap is what you experience in the Transcendental
Consciousness.

That is why the Veda says, "In this field of the collapse within the
gap, you have the Devata, which makes the abstract—which makes the
unmanifest—flow." The unmanifest flow is how the gap flows from one
side of it to the end of it, and then transforms the initial word
into the following word—the flow.

Who makes it flow? There must be someone who makes it flow, and
there must be someone who can start the flow, maintain the flow, and
end the flow. And these are the agencies, the instruments, the—uh?—
sort of, these are the scientists which start the flow, which
maintain the flow, and maintain the flow in a particular order; and
then end the flow. This is the world of the devata. This is the
world of those agencies which maintain the dynamism in the field of
silence.

It's most delightful, and it's most enjoyable field of knowledge.
This is Vedic knowledge. It's an experience; it's an experience;
it's an experience. Take these formulas that we have received from
Guru Dev and we are giving to the world. There are, I think, a few
thousand—these teachers of advanced techniques of Transcendental
Meditation.

So we are providing that experience where the Vedic sounds can be
recognized what the sounds are—not only the sound, but who is at the
basis of the sound: the Devata —because the sound flows when it
flows from one point to the other point, from one to the other, from
one to the other. Then, in sequence, some other Devata takes over.
One Devata goes from here to here; the other goes from here to here;
the other goes from here to here; the other goes from here to here.
This is the structural dynamics of the Vedic language. This is the
structural dynamics of the total field of knowledge, which is at the
basis of all creation, in the field of the unmanifest.

This is Vedic science: all about what it is there in the field of
the unmanifest. There's a world of abstract realities in the
transcendental field. There is a world of that. And that world is
more competent and more capable than our world, which is limited to
sensory perception.

Our world of sensory perception is also governed by the Devatas.
Eyes have their own Devatas; ears have their own Devatas. It's a
matter of knowing them—and knowing them on the basis of their causal
value, the causal value. Because this is not the common education,
that's why people don't know what is the cause; they just surmise on
the effect only. But the education should take the people to the
basic values of transformation. And they are there in the structure
of the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yaju

Sem stabbed a guy in the face, requiring stitches, without
provocation, an obviously psychotic break that school authorities
took so seriously that they decided to throw Sem out of school and
put him on a plane home the next morning. Naturally, this being MUM
management, they not only did not get security guards to watch over
him (so that the assault would not end up in security dept. logs
which the public can access), they did not assign two guys to
monitor him, so that Sem could repeat his assault on another student
when his sole watchdog was busy in the bathroom. Substitute the name
Bevan Morris or Craig Pearson for the unimportant student who was
stabbed with a pen, and the outcome would have been different -- Sem
would have been managed if the vic had been important, but he was
only a student, a type that counts for nothing at a school where
there is no real student newspaper -- do the math...

[FairfieldLife] My life is that level where unmanifest prevails...

2006-03-14 Thread bbrigante
Where do you get your energy from when you e.g. sleep only 2 hours?

MAHARISHI: Nobody knows if I am sleeping even those two hours.
People make their stories. This is not significant in my case. Because
I am not living in terms of how much I sleep and how much I eat and
how much I wake up. This is not my life. My life is that level where
unmanifest prevails through all differences in manifestations.

So that is alright. It is like the life of everyone, like that, like
that. How much one sleeps and how much one is awake and what one eats -
what does it mean? It is a waste of time.

The responsibility was with the decision of MUM administrators not to
involve police or security guards. A lot of people simply do not have
the disposition to be security guards, and presumably Joel Wysong, who
admitted being afraid of Sem when Sem was acting crazy in his house,
was just not capable of handling the situation, so I can't fault him
in the way that I fault MUM mgmt for their indifference to student
welfare. You can't expect some faculty member with no experience in
dealing with the wild and crazy to be able to handle the situation --
that's why the school had security guards, that's what Fairfield cops
are for -- it was a decision by top administrators at MUM not to
involve any security people that was the problem.

I don't see Joel Wysong listed as faculty any more:

***
This is the heart of the complaint against MUM, and the negligence
and indifference to student welfare is shocking:
***

During the approximately six weeks Shuvender Sem was on the
Maharishi University of Management campus, his appearance and
behavior became increasingly bizarre and his attitude toward other
students became more aggressive, threatening, and belligerent. As
one example, Sem threatened to kill a fellow student by bashing the
student's head into a sink and then stomping on him while he was on
the ground.
The change in Shuvender Sem's appearance, behavior, and attitude was
observed by his fellow students and either was, or should have been,
observed by Defendants.
E. The Attacks on March 1, 2004
On Monday, March 1, 2004, Shuvender Sem attended an afternoon class
at Maharishi University of Management at which several University
staff persons were present. These persons included Samuel Boothby,
Chris Jones, and Susan Dillbeck. Susan Dillbeck is a member of the
University's Board of Trustees. About a dozen other students were
also in attendance.
The class had just finished meditating and was watching a video of
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, when Shuvender Sem became agitated, stood up,
and began making strange gestures. Eventually, he left the room for
a few minutes. When he returned, he stood behind a student named
John Killian.
Suddenly and without provocation, Sem began screaming obscenities
and stabbed John Killian in the face and throat with a pen.
The classroom attack on John Killian occurred at approximately 2:30
p.m.
Fortunately, John Killian was able to deflect the pen slightly with
his hand, possibly saving his own life. The pen punctured his hand,
chin, and throat, and left a red ink scratch across his throat.
A fellow student named Akbar Nazary grabbed Shuvender Sem and
stopped the attack.
John Killian was taken to a restroom by Maharishi University of
Management staff, advised that he probably did not need stitches,
given a bandage, and encouraged to return to class. His repeated
requests to be taken to someone qualified to determine whether he
needed stitches were turned down.
John Killian was then asked by University staff to meet with
Shuvender Sem so that Sem could apologize. Staff members, who
included Chris Jones and Samuel Boothby, represented that the reason
Sem had attacked Killian was that Sem had been meditating improperly.
Shuvender Sem's "apology," which was prompted by Samuel Boothby, was
delivered with a flat expression in a monotone voice, and with no
indication of genuine remorse.
Samuel Boothby then asked John Killian if he was ready to return to
class. Killian could not believe Boothby was serious.
John Killian returned to the classroom where he had been attacked to
retrieve his books. When he re-entered the room, some of the
students were still in shock and some were crying. Rather than
attending to the needs of the students, Susan Dillbeck and other
Maharishi University of Management staff continued to run the
videotape and attempted to act as though nothing had happened.
Susan Dillbeck insisted that the students focus their attention on
the lecture.
Ultimately, John Killian drove himself to a hospital, where he
received multiple stitches. When he described how he had been
injured and reported the excuse given by Maharishi University of
Management staff that Shuvender Sem had simply been meditating
improperly, the treating doctor responded, "In the real world, we
call that assault and battery, and people go to jail for it."
Immediately after the attack, student witnesses advised University
Staff that Shuvender Sem had acted in a bizarre and aggressive
manner on previous occasions and had demonstrated clear signs of
schizophrenia, including a claim that he was being followed by a
black cat.
Meanwhile, Maharishi University of Management officials, including
Executive Vice President Craig Pearson and Dean of Men Joel Wysong,
were informed of Shuvender Sem's attack on John Killian.
Dr. Robert Boyer, a clinical psychologist and member of the
University faculty, was contacted. He advised that Shuvender Sem
was dangerous, should be kept off campus, and needed to be evaluated
by a psychiatrist immediately.
University officials decided not to arrange a psychiatric evaluation
of Shuvender Sem.
Defendants knew or should have known that Shuvender Sem was a menace
to the safety of others and that it was foreseeable he might attack
someone else without warning or provocation.
In direct violation of the University'

Just because some idiot used it for twelve years in his "thousand year
reich" doesn't mean that the cultures of Asia and America who have
used it for years have to discard this symbol. The Klan uses a type of
cross in its symbol, but this does not mean that Christians have to
abandon the symbol:

Naturally you have completely misunderstood what MMY said, which has
nothing to do with the effort of focusing the mind, but on simply
living with a peaceful mind:

MMY's Gita commentary, Ch II, v. 66
"If the mind is more steady, it is in a better position to
experience greater happiness. As on a calmer surface of water the
sun reflects more clearly, so a calmer mind receives a clerer
reflection of the omnipresent bliss of the absolute Being. As the
mind fathoms finer fields of thinking during meditation, the
metabolism is simultaneously reduced. This establishes the nervous
system in degrees of ever-increasing peace. Eventually, when the
entire nervous system comes to a completely peaceful state, it
reflects Being, and this gives rise to bliss-
consciousnessAbsolute bliss being always there, the experience
of happiness thus depends upon the degree of steadiness of mind. If
the mind is more collected, more peaceful, it experiences more
happiness."

What's the point of voicing opposition, when the news clearly shows
how stupid the justification and execution of this war is? You can
fool all of the people some of the time (think of the day when Bush
had 90% approval http://ask.yahoo.com/20051011.html ), but those
days are over, and it's not necessary to say much of anything when
any fool can read the paper and see how Bush's sorry thinking has
created a problem with no solution. Since we have a free press, it's
not really necessary for pols to say anything...

[FairfieldLife] Mass. not ready for Kingsley's house?

" The ostensible owners of the property, Kingsley and Leslie Brooks,
appeared with their architect from Iowa. They explained that this move
to Lincoln means a lot to Kingsley in particular because he's a
descendant of the original Brooks family (as in the Brooks School,
Brooks Road, etc.), which owned a big chunk of Lincoln and Concord
back in the 1600s. Currently living in a 5,800 square-foot house in
Cambridge, the Brooks family wanted to return to their roots, so they
bought the land and...whoa, that's where the fairy tale family return
to Lincoln takes a sharp turn.

No concern, because the West does not count (in India, obviously,
where there are swastikas everywhere, it's a non-issue). The TMO is
going to succeed or fail on the basis of India alone, so the price
increases (but not in India), the withdrawal of TM activities in
scorpionland, etc., and this swastika thing are signals that the
fate of the TMO outside doesn't matter:

In his press conference of 13Apr2005 at mou.org, Maharishi said
that "As Indian national consciousness rises in coherence -- which
is the basis of invincibility for the nation then world
consciousness will rise in coherence which is the basis of permanent
world peace...One sun rises, but its innumerable rays spread light

No concern, because the West does not count (in India, obviously,
where there are swastikas everywhere, it's a non-issue). The TMO is
going to succeed or fail on the basis of India alone, so the price
increases (but not in India), the withdrawal of TM activities in
scorpionland, etc., and this swastika thing are signals that the
fate of the TMO outside of India, except as a shell of an
organization until India does its Vedic revival thing, doesn't
matter:

In his press conference of 13Apr2005 at mou.org, Maharishi said
that "As Indian national consciousness rises in coherence -- which
is the basis of invincibility for the nation then world
consciousness will rise in coherence which is the basis of permanent
world peace...One sun rises, but its innumerable rays spread light
everywhere...So it's natural for the influence of coherence to
spread from India to the whole world." In the mou.org Press
Conference 26 June 2002, Maharishi said: "India is the only country
which can assume a parental role for every country of the world with

I didn't see the tape with NYT reporter, but last week I watched MOU
live (I don't know the date of the press conference) with a reporter
in the MOU studio from a British rag
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/news/thenews.html , David
Jones, who asked really dumb questions about the Beatles. I'm
guessing they'll give up on bringing in reporters and just stick
with selecting questions submitted by email in order to avoid these
fiascos.

I don't think you should impute any wrongdoing to Kingsley, as
Queensley evidently simply tired of householder life (Kathy went on
Mother Divine after she split the sheets with Kingsley), and as far
as Leslie, she probably just woke up one morning and realized that
she had married Mario!! No harm, no foul.

[FairfieldLife] MMY answers ?s from Brit reporter

2006-03-17 Thread bbrigante
Maharishi's Weekly Press Conference
Wed 8 March 2006
Including questions from David Jones, Daily Mail reporter England

David JONES, Daily Mail: "..Could you explain on what basis you have
chosen
the 24 countries that you are focussing on ? What basis these
countries,
these particular countries have been chosen? Would you address that
for me
please ?

[Maharishi couldn't hear the Question. so John Hagelin repeated the
question]

MAHARISHI: They contrast with England in terms of being more
innocent
and
positive countries, as against very damaging and dangerous country
of
England.

England is a destroyer of the world very openly. And these
countries
are
more simple and they are not destroyers of the world. So they have
been
adopted for their simplicity.

And England ? I withdrew my activities from England because when the
scientific researches indicate Transcendental Meditation makes the
people
healthy, wealthy and wise I don't want to make that country which is
a
destroyer of the world to be healthy wealthy and wise ! Otherwise
I'll
be
the promoter of a bigger, of a bigger destruction to the world.
That
is the
reason some time back I decided just close the doors.

I don't want to .. to give better health . and better, better
prosperity and
wisdom to a country who's beginning to end - the whole policy is to
destroy, destroy, destroy. And it's not [reached?] the destruction
level,
then at least divide and rule. Divide and rule is the British
policy.
It's
very criminal. Innocent people [and you divide this ] this man,
this
man,
this man. So the entire British disposition is to destroy the unity
of
every nation, and if possible - destroy the country, destroy the
country.
Sell arms, sell arms. At least destroy the country.

That is why I didn't like to think of that country. And didn't like
to
give
life to the country. Although I'll be, I'll be supporting the
country
to
destroy [?? ]. That is the reason. My principles are very simple
and
very
clear.

David JONES: Thanks for that answer. As an Englishman, it makes me
feel
rather uncomfortable but I suppose it's not personal - I sincerely
hope
it's
not.

MAHARISHI: Could you speak, could you speak a little slower?

David JONES: I'm sorry Maharishi.

MAHARISHI: You could speak with, you could speak with slow speed so
that
your voice I could hear directly? Rather than speaking fast. Let me
hear
you slowly, slowly so I'll be able to answer every aspect of your
talk.

David JONES: Are you able to hear me Maharishi ?

MAHARISHI: When you speak slowly, with less speed, then I can catch
you.

David JONES: I am speaking slowly now.

MAHARISHI: Right. This is all right.

David JONES: Thank you for that answer. As I was saying, I hope it
was
not
a personal thing because as an Englishman it makes me feel rather
uncomfortable, but I'm asking you, how then the United Kingdom
differs
in
your view from the United States which many see as an equally
warmongering
arms promulgating nation as the United Kingdom. Why do you separate
between
the two ?

MAHARISHI: Population of US is bigger. So bigger population I could
have a
hope from one corner, from the other corner, from the other corner.
England is a smaller country, so I can't divide this smaller country
into
little little corners and have my approach.

It's a bigger population in US which leaves some hope in me about
US.
And
even since I stopped my activities England Dr Hagelin tells me so
much
of
US press is raising a voice this way, and this way, and this way,
and
this
way.

So there is a bigger population. I have a hope to revive it.
That's
why I
didn't reject it. Otherwise from this level it needed rejection.
But
I
have to follow up. As I have to, I have to manage myself with some
hope
of
the country.

That is the reason.

David JONES: Some people, some people might suggest that it would be
better
to try to affect change from within, and taking your own thesis if I
may
call it that, which is it needs a very few people to affect a very
big
change, I'm sure that you would find within the United Kingdom there
are
more than sufficient people who are opposed to the policies of the
government of the day, who would be willing to support you and your
aims if
only you would, you know if only you would return to the United
Kingdom
and
give them that chance to do so. But of course, without your
presence
there
and without your support they feel cut off, and they feel that you
have
for
want of a better phrase, sort of abandoned them there, and that they
are no
longer part of your Movement. Could you respond to that ?

MAHARISHI: I have abandoned them to, to wake up to my Knowledge,
because I
don't' know what they were thinking of this .. But every country in
the
world, no government has adopted my procedure to become free, and to
become
integrated and all that. This is because it is

You can read the transcript and see for yourself:

The reporter was not from the NYT, but from the Brit "Daily Mail,"
and he did ask a number of truly silly and superficial questions
about the Beatles etc.

What this snotty comment means is that MMY asked John what the

I'm far too lazy to do these long transcripts, but thanks to whoever
did it...listening to the broadcast, however, is much better,
because you catch MMY's sense of humor (based on his life of Total
Bliss), which tempers the occasional apparent harshness of the mere

an extremely ignorant world, which contrast is why all the

New Vegetable Subscription Program Offered

Maharishi University of Management Organic FarmsSM and Maharishi
Vedic City Organic Farms are joining forces to offer a new Community

available for Spring, Summer, and Autumn 2006.

The name of this new venture is Maharishi World Peace Vedic Organic

Maharishi University of Management Organic Farms and Maharishi Vedic
City Organic Farms are unique in the field of agriculture in Iowa.
Both farms are USDA Certified Organic. Together they farm more than
104,000 square feet of greenhouses and more than 20 acres of field
production of vegetables and fruit. These are not the commonly known
hothouse operations that use hydroponics or chemicals. All produce
is grown in soil that is nourished by compost, organic fertilizers,
cover crops, and mined minerals. Only vegetarian materials are used
in production -- no bone or blood meal, feathers or fish.

Sound has been researched to have an influence on plants. Harsh
music has a deleterious effect and classical music a better effect.
But all these farm locations have the soothing and nourishing
influence of Maharishi Gandharva VedaSM music, the ancient melodies
of Nature, played 24 hours a day. These harmonious sounds enliven
the natural intelligence of the plants. The fruit and vegetables are
not only fresh -- they have the enlivening influence of Nature's
intelligence to help their delicate and sequential unfoldment and
they have the caring attention of farmers enlivening their own inner
awareness through the technologies of Maharishi Consciousness-
BasedSM Education, unique to Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture
projects http://www.mvoai.org/intro.html

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) projects are very popular
around the country and provide mutual benefit to the consumer and
the farmer. A local CSA provides an opportunity for the consumer to
have the freshest produce available. Produce bought at stores is
generally 10-14 days old by the date you purchase it because the
produce is picked, processed, and then shipped long distances.

In a CSA, the consumer is providing the farmer a guaranteed purchase
so that he can buy the seeds and grow the crops knowing that there
is a market for his perishable produce.

Both the growers and consumers mutually support one another and
share the risks and benefits of food production. Members or
shareholders of the farm or garden pay their membership fees in
advance to cover the anticipated costs of the farm. In return, they
receive shares in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season,
as well as satisfaction gained from reconnecting to the land.
Members also share in the risk that farming involves, including the
possibility of restricted harvest of some crops due to unfavorable
weather or pests.

Those subscribing will receive a weekly box of certified organic
vegetables picked fresh from the farms and greenhouses.
Approximately 50 types of vegetables and herbs will be grown and
provided over the course of the year. Each weekly box will include
12-16 vegetables of the season to feed a family of four. Half
subscriptions are also available for singles or couples. Full
subscriptions will cost $30 per week; half subscriptions will cost
$18 per week. More information is listed below for the Spring,
Summer, and Autumn options.

For those anticipating being gone for part of the summer a special
flexible option allows you to pick and choose the weeks you receive
produce -- with the minimum being 15 weeks. This flex summer option
is $32/week.

Vegetable boxes may also be shipped to locations in the Midwest
outside of Jefferson County via FedEx Ground. Boxes will be packed
on Wednesday of each week and delivered to your door via FedEx
Ground on Thursday.

Below are the membership options we offer:

Paramount had to go along with the little turd or Cruise was not
going to publicize MIssion Impossible III. Shortly after the film
hits the theaters, this blackmail leverage will no longer be
available to Cruise, and Paramount will let that South Park episode
be shown.

[FairfieldLife] Global Family Chat March 18th

dome fees may go down to $25, Brahmastan land purchased in Nebraska:
***

(Courtesy of Graeme Lodge, National Leader of New Zealand)

Maharishi's GLobal Family Chat, Sat 18th March, 2006

Long Summary:

Raja Bob Wynn:

1800 sidhas here at Fairfield. More than Super Radiance number
already, so instantly we can achieve goal. All 1800 have not been
doing program together. Maharishi says good if people don't have to
travel too far to program. So we have started to build new flying
halls all around the city so always one close to home or work. All
are according to Maharishi Sthapatya Ved.

Good heating cooling and ventilation. Some companies can provide
halls for their workers. Today we announced purchase of Brahmasthan
of US west of here.

Then the idea came to Maharishi that we could have 4000 here in
Iowa. Let them come here and stay in vastu homes that we can build
very quickly. We have 2500 acres of land here at Vedic City. But
important fact is 1800 is enough, so it is done for US. We are
working with goups of people to work out optimum time for flying as
everyone needs to do it together at same time. Even though in
different flying halls. Should only cost about $25 a month for
flying fees. Bldgs will be built very cheaply but good quality.

Many universities between here and brahmasthan, so can create
a "peace corridor". Need to advertise to attract students to campus.
Need to focus on student population.

Need to remind everyone in Faifield why they should come to program
together and create World Peace.

With lands we own and are buying we will have 30 Peace Palaces going
up immediately in 9 states of Maharishi Vedic America. White marble
exterior and metal frame. Builder will build anywhere for a fixed
price and is financing them. First floor can be bedrooms as on 2nd
floor so are very flexible. There is a basic pattern that can be
used for colleges as well as Peace Palaces. Residences and medical
colleges and clinics. In Dallas, large piece of land owned already
and can have medical clinic. Modern medicine is getting more
dangerous every day if you have been following the news, you will
know.

Maharishi says must get into vastu otherwise you won't know from
what corner the disease will come. You should move as if your house
is on fire.

Bevan: When Maharishi was going over this plan today he concluded
that the US which is the largest of the adopted countries will
attain invincibility first, based on discussions today . Peace
corridor between groups at Brahmastan and Maharishi Vedic City will
be very powerful. Brahmasthan is 360 miles away from Vedic City.

Maharishi said Raja Dean should have Peace Palaces on other side of
Potomac river in Washington, in an auspicious place. Students that
are coming for David Lynch weekend should be encouraged to stay
there and become yogic fliers. So are now focusing on doubling the
number of yogic flyers to 4000. Whole press team will be focused on
this. Ashley Deans and Craig Pearson are coming back from India
immediately to spearhead this effort to create National
invincibility. Maharishi felt very satisfied with the planning for
this.

HE Dr Chris Crowell from Switz:
Very successful week . Dr Hagelin arrived in Zurich . Shows slides
develpment in newspapers for press conference and evening
conference. Venue Hotel Zemstrukten(?) . Very elegant old hotel.
Prepared by Governors there. Hall was really packed. Dr Hagelin and
Dr Felix gave brilliant presentation. Maharishi told John to talk
hard core physics. I want to say again the words used to introduce
Dr Hagelin. Prof John Hagelin most distinguished quantum physicist.
At pinnacle of elite physicists who have fulfilled Einsteins
dream... His theory is most successful Unified Field theory to date.
Also truly 1st scientist in world to apply this for the practical
benefit of mankind. Can markedly decrease crime, conflict
etc...invincible. (There was more which I didn't get down but which
was really good)

He moves freely around world to spread this knowledge.

Following the Press Conference and Conference was beautiful effect
in city. Reporters did nice piece on them and showed it in evening .
Wanted to do an interview. So Raja Felix and wife Mona did this and
it was shown on Monday and Tuesday TV.

Shows 3 clips of interview speaking in Swiss German. Interview was
20 mins long.
1st clip speaks about young people forming group of fliers for
nation
2nd clip Speaks about yogic flying and shows yogic flying demo
tape.
3 rd clip Reconstruction of Zurich and other cities in Switz

www.tlezueri.ch can sees full interview.

In Zurich the news programmes are played over and over again. So
this was played every hour for 24 hours.

Found a venue of 4500 sqm to accom 1500 students for group flying .

Looking for land in Switzerland, found a piece east of lake
Neuchattel, 40 mins from Lausanne and Berne. Thought to create a

New Vegetable Subscription Program Offered

Maharishi University of Management Organic FarmsSM and Maharishi
Vedic City Organic Farms are joining forces to offer a new Community
Supported Agriculture (CSA) program for the community and for
selected cities in the Midwest. Limited subscriptions are now
available for Spring, Summer, and Autumn 2006.

The name of this new venture is Maharishi World Peace Vedic Organic

Maharishi University of Management Organic Farms and Maharishi Vedic
City Organic Farms are unique in the field of agriculture in Iowa.
Both farms are USDA Certified Organic. Together they farm more than

MUM only accepts about one out of every 30 applicants for the
CompSci program, which heavy screening just about guarantees that
you will get a job at market rates in the U.S., especially now that
the IT job market is OK (in the unlikely event you don't get a job,
MUM does not require repayment of the education loan):

Academic quality should be high, since there are lots of computer
people in the TM movement, and I have never heard any complaints
about the quality of instruction in the Comp Sci dept.

Unlike the honey, the pricing seems reasonable to me, like $18/wk
for a half subscription. For a complete vegetarian like myself, I
spend about $2-4/day on veggies, so the pricing sounds affordable:

Hard numbers are hard to come by, but I would guess that there are
no more than 100 former Siddhas (or practicing Siddhas who are
barred from the domes) in Fairfield. So even if you deduct that 100
from the 1800 figure, there are still a potential 1700 Siddhas
available if they lower the dome fees and start these satellite
programs. It's (slightly) encouraging to see that the MUM PR people
are no longer trying to pump the lie about 3000 Siddhas in
Fairfield/VC , but have lowered the figure to a number more in line
with what the actual numbers are.

[FairfieldLife] Scientology/South Park

2006-03-20 Thread bbrigante
"Meantime, Tom Cruise may have gotten Comedy Central to pull its

Chef's Quitting Controversy
Monday, March 20, 2006
By Roger Friedman

Isaac Hayes' Quitting Controversy

Isaac Hayes did not quit "South Park." My sources say that someone
quit it for him.

I can tell you that Hayes is in no position to have quit anything.
Contrary to news reports, the great writer, singer and musician
suffered a stroke on Jan. 17. At the time it was said that he was
hospitalized and suffering from exhaustion.

It's also absolutely ridiculous to think that Hayes, who loved
playing Chef on "South Park," would suddenly turn against the show
because they were poking fun at Scientology.

Last November, when the "Trapped in a Closet" episode of the comedy
aired, I saw Hayes and spent time with him in Memphis for the annual
Blues Ball.

If he hated the show so much, I doubt he would have performed his
trademark hit song from the show, "Chocolate Salty Balls." He tossed
the song into the middle of one of his less salacious hits and got
the whole audience in the Memphis Pyramid to sing along.

(I can tell you, Hayes was very pleased with himself, was in a great
mood and, as always, loved his fans' coming up to him and asking him
about Chef.

As recently as early January, before his stroke, Hayes defended
the "South Park" creators in an interview with "The AV Club," the
serious side of the satirical newspaper, The Onion.

AV Club: They did just do an episode that made fun of your religion,
Scientology. Did that bother you?

Hayes: Well, I talked to Matt [Stone] and Trey [Parker] about that.
They didn't let me know until it was done. I said, 'Guys, you have
it all wrong. We're not like that. I know that's your thing, but get
your information correct, because somebody might believe that
[expletive], you know?' But I understand what they're doing. I told
them to take a couple of Scientology courses and understand what we
do. [Laughs.]

The truth is, Hayes has a sly sense of humor and loves everything
about "South Park." It's provided him a much-needed income stream
since losing the royalties to the many hits he's written, such
as "Shaft" and "Soul Man," in the mid-1970s.

Even though he's one of America's most prolific hit writers, Hayes
has been denied access to profits from his own material for almost
30 years.

But it's hard to know anything since Hayes, like Katie Holmes, is
constantly monitored by a Scientologist representative most of the
time. Luckily, at the Blues Ball he was on his own, partying just
with family and friends. He was very excited about having gotten
married and about the impending birth of a new child.

Friends in Memphis tell me that Hayes did not issue any statements
on his own about South Park. They are mystified.

"Isaac's been concentrating on his recuperation for the last two and
a half, three months," a close friend told me.

Hayes did not suffer paralysis, but the mild stroke may have
affected his speech and his memory. He's been having home therapy
since it happened.

That certainly begs the question of who issued the statement that
Hayes was quitting "South Park" now because it mocked Scientology
four months ago. If it wasn't Hayes, then who would have done such a
thing?

Meantime, Tom Cruise may have gotten Comedy Central to pull its
repeat of "South Park"'s Scientology spoof last week, but the result
is that episode is all over the Web. You can see it for free at
youtube.com.

Not only that, the Comedy Central Web site has four clips from the
21-minute show. And it also says that "Trapped in the Closet" will
air this Wednesday at 10 p.m.

[FairfieldLife] The dark secrets of the organic-food movement.

2006-03-20 Thread bbrigante
http://www.slate.com/id/2138176/nav/tap1/

"Another heading on the Whole Foods banner says "Help the Small
Farmer." "Buying organic," it states, "supports the small, family
farmers that make up a large percentage of organic food producers."
This is semantic sleight of hand. As one small family farmer in
Connecticut told me recently, "Almost all the organic food in this
country comes out of California. And five or six big California
farms dominate the whole industry." There's a widespread
misperception in this country—one that organic growers, no matter
how giant, happily encourage—that "organic" means "small family
farmer." That hasn't been the case for years, certainly not since
1990, when the Department of Agriculture drew up its official
guidelines for organic food. Whole Foods knows this well, and so the
line about the "small family farmers that make up a large percentage
of organic food producers" is sneaky. There are a lot of small,
family-run organic farmers, but their share of the organic crop in
this country, and of the produce sold at Whole Foods, is minuscule.

It's amazing to run into bears in the San Bernardino mountains, which
I have, just a few miles away from downtown Los Angeles. And who could
fail to be captivated by the crime and pollution? But the real reason
is my passion for lowriding:

[FairfieldLife] Wealth and totality

2006-03-21 Thread bbrigante
All from December 1, 2005:

Maharishi: "How do you smash poverty? You take poverty to the
extreme level, where there is absolutely nothing. And you have
smashed poverty. And when there is absolutely nothing, you find
absolutely everything. And that is real richness.

"Real richness is real richness. Underline this thing a thousand
times. Real richness is not in the countable wealth -- million,
billion, trillion, and whatever -- it's not in terms of wealth. In
terms of the source of all wealth. Source of infinite wealth.

"That you desire and the thing is there. You wish -- the thing is
there. That is real wealthy. And to this class we want to raise
the poor.

..."It's not concerned with countable coins and wealth, but it is in
terms of that affluence which is a field of all possibilities. All
wealth is an aspect of it.

"But wealth is not -- alone -- total life. There is power. There
is power. And there is knowledge. And there is bliss.

..."Our poverty removal is -- removal of anything that may not be
totality. Removal of anything that is not totality. And that is!
one's own self-sufficiency. One's own consciousness. One's own
consciousness. And that is predominantly a matter of attention.
Attention.

..."We have the program of poverty removal, and this is in terms of
the worldly understanding of it. But when we know from where we are
functioning for these, and where we want to take our people, we want
to take our people -- not to a wealth which can be minimized, or
which can be stolen away, or which can be a cause of pains and
tears. But a level where bliss is moving, where the waves are the
waves of bliss."

"Dreaming state of consciousness is -- something is seen in terms of
something else. There is a tree, and you see it like a lion !
jumping on you. This is dream. Something is seen as something
else.

"God Consciousness is also: something seen in terms of something
else. You see a mango tree, and you see Krishna is there, and you
see this Vishnu is there. Something seen in terms of something
else. That is God Consciousness.

"God Consciousness. Something seen as something else. You see
something, but you see God in it. You see something -- God in it."

The karma has a person has coming is ordinarily going to get to
them, all the good and bad things, but funnily enough, it is the
very last thought that a person has that determines his next birth,
as told in many stories in the Vedic literature. So it doesn't make
a great deal of difference if somebody gets eaten by a tiger, and
his last thought is totally focused on that beast, causing one to be
born as a tiger, because this, like any life, is only a temporary
thing.

But there is another possibility addressed in the Vedic literature,
namely, that one can gain liberation by means of the last thought
(like a thought of complete identification with Krishna or Vishnu),
but this would likely only happen if a person was dedicated to
seeking enlightenment in his lifetime already, and that last thought
was a natural step -- although there are also stories of people who,
facing death, completely abandoned their lifelong ignorance and
gained liberation in a short period before death.

Our notions of what is fair fall apart when you realize that it's
everybody's birthright to enjoy liberation, regardless of what one
has done or not done, it's just a matter of wiping a little mud off,
and an intense last thought can do that -- although it's not the way
to bet, like they say; it's better to live a life oriented toward
expansion of awareness rather than wait till the last minute,
especially since there may be no control over one's circumstances at
the time of death.

This is a deficient notion, although moving to Varanasi (also called
Kashi) and embracing spirituality may have some value. Shankara, an
incarnation of Shiva, commented on the real Kashi, which is within:

I am that Kashi whose essence is self-knowledge.
...
In Kashi the light shines.
That light illumines everything.
Whoever knows that light, truly reaches Kashi.
...
If all this dwells within my body,
What other place of pilgrimage can there be?

[FairfieldLife] MUM Review: Brahmastan of India; new campus center

2006-03-22 Thread bbrigante
http://www.mum.edu/TheReview 22Mar2006

6. University Vice-President Visits World Capital of Peace in India

University Executive Vice-President Craig Pearson has been in India
since
mid-January at the World Capital of Peace located in the Brahmasthan
(geographical center) of that country.

Dr. Pearson is there representing Maharishi University of
Management,
along
with Dr. Ashley Deans, who is representing Maharishi School. Also in
residence are leaders of Maharishi's national organizations
representing a
number of other countries around the world, as well as a number of
former
Maharishi University of Management students.

Dr. Pearson, Dr. Deans, and the others have been participating in the
Parliaments of World Peace, which are focusing on 12 major areas of
life,
three days on each area.

The Campus

The World Capital of Peace is located in a remote area about three
hours by
bus from Jabalpur.

The campus is large enough to accommodate 3,000 Vedic Scholars. The
goal is
to purchase additional land in the region and continue construction
until
the campus can accommodate 16,000 Vedic Scholars, as well as
ambassadors
from every nation.

Many buildings have been built since 1999 when Maharishi first began
establishing a presence in the Brahmasthan. They are single-story
buildings
designed according to principles of Maharishi Vedic architecture.

The buildings are arranged in clusters, consisting of residential
buildings,
a hall for the practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-
Sidhi®
programs, and other facilities. There are many such clusters, and
the
campus
is divided into five large compounds.

Former Students in India

Among those currently in India are 30 members of the Purusha(SM)
program
from the United States, including former students Byron and Aubrey
Deans,
Justin Cutter, Jon Czinder, Emile Stansberry, Damian Lodge, and
Martin
Davy.
Also in the group at the Capital are current students Soren Pearson
and
Aaron Hirshberg.

Dr. Pearson said that the Parliaments have entailed fascinating
presentations of knowledge. Maharishi inaugurates each Parliament
with
an
address. Then the area is examined in the light of each of the other
areas.

He said that the interconnectedness of the areas has been
emphasized,
such
as how agriculture contributes to architecture, or the relation
between
agriculture and religion and culture.

"The structure for these presentations that Maharishi has set up
stimulates
new insights and new connections," Dr. Pearson said in an e-mail
message
addressed to the community. "The result has been a brilliant,
multi-faceted
display of knowledge, all forming one grand wholeness, every
presentation
reinforcing the reality that everything is Brahm, that all fields of
life
are nothing other than wholeness moving within itself, and that we
are
That."

Large Groups of Vedic Scholars

Maharishi has said that groups of Vedic Scholars, or Pandits, will
create
peace in the world. Dr. Pearson noted that during the several years
at
the
end of the 1980s and early 1990s when 7,000 Vedic Scholars came
together at
Maharishi Nagar, the Berlin Wall fell, nations throughout Eastern
Europe
gained their freedom, the Soviet Union collapsed, and the world's
largest
standing army disbanded. And since then the world's conflicts and
wars
have
been in freefall.

Today conflict and war are at the lowest level in many decades and
peace is
breaking out all over the world. The Iraq war, for all the
headlines,
is an
anomaly.

The goal now is to have 16,000 Vedic Scholars at the Capital,
additional
groups of 8,000 around India, and also groups elsewhere in the world.

"It's difficult to conceive of the powerful effect such large groups
will
have," Dr. Pearson said. "In the training and bringing together of
these
Pandits lies the foundation of permanent peace for our world family."

1. Over $3 Million Raised for New Student Center

A very substantial donation by Vincent and Maggie Argiro and other
recent
generous gifts and pledges by University Trustees and supporters has
brought
the total raised for the new Student Center to $3.2 million -- over
half of
the $5.8 million goal.

The naming of the building is offered as a shared opportunity for
the
first
two donors who contribute $1 million. Half of this opportunity is
still
available and a gift of $1 million will entitle the donor to share
this
honor with University Trustee Vincent Argiro and his wife, Maggie.

Based on this success, the fundraising campaign has now been
broadened
to
include all alumni and friends of the University. Everyone will now
have the
opportunity to be part of this latest and most ambitious step in
reconstructing the campus according to principles of Maharishi
Vedic(SM)
Architecture.

"We want to continue the momentum of building -- to do this we need
everyone's support now," said Nick Rosania, co-director of the
Development
Office.

After Deepak Chopra, who became rich and famous because of his being
handed all the Ayurveda knowledge, left the TMO in an arrogant huff,
MMY determined to do whatever it took to keep the power-hungry fools
(and they're all power-hungry fools) in TM management from jumping
ship. The Natural Law Party was a necessary evil so that fart-
cannons like John Hagelin and Bevan could pronounce to the world
their suitability as masters of the earth. It's just a temporary
phase, until really intelligent people can run things intelligently -
- a competent TMO would be too challenging to a deeply ignorant
world, just as Jesus and Krishna were too challenging (Kamsa tried
to kill Krishna right from his birth).

MUM is not mortgaged to any bank, as far as I know, although Stu
Zimmerman might hold most of the paper on the campus, so it's not
possible for banks to foreclose -- this includes the pundit-free
campus in Vedic City, which was bought with cash, not loans
(although they tried their best to get loans for a campus of 8000
pundits -- fortunately, they did not get the banks/County to go
along). Regarding the fate of the TMO, MMY does not seem to be
worried, although he is possibly foreshadowing his eminent
death/Mahasamadhi in the following excerpt:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Transcendental_Meditation/message/857

Maharishi during the final family chat of 2005:

"I am going in silence, but the organisation will continue, and
these beautiful beautiful fortunate exhortations of the call of - of
the time - when one year is ending and the other is beginning -
these pieces of chat, family - Global Family Chat in pieces, will
continue like the stars in the sky."

Really, the time of darkness on earth is only temporary, although it
always seems like a long time when the earth is full of suffering --
but to have confidence in something other the primacy and
inevitability of bliss consciousness is just not realistic in the
long run for those who are fortunate enough to understand the value
of TM and the Vedic literature.

The loan to learn TM is not low-interest (the Citibank Citiassist
loan is prime rate plus points, instead of less than prime rate like
Stafford govt-guaranteed loans), because it is not a government-
guaranteed/subsidized loan, but a private student loan that either
requires good credit or a co-signer -- it's the same loan that MUM
students in the Computer Professional program get:

http://www.mum.edu/compro/citiassist.html

for MUM students who are foreign nationals, Iowa banks give a loan
(guaranteed by MUM itself):

There was a county attorney, Ann Taylor (whose parents owned
the "taylor on broadway" restaurant just off the square in
Fairfield), who was a meditator. While she was county attorney of
Jefferson County in the 80s, Ms. Taylor married the notably-nutty
Lewis Gibson, a meditator who later was busted in California for
using underage girls for sex and to sell cocaine, for which he
received a sentence in which his first parole-eligibility date was
something like after 42 years (David Hawthorne mentions Gibson's
case [without mentioning him by name] in his Jyotish book:
http://tinyurl.com/depwf ). Gibson was moved from Folsom prison some
time ago to a hospital for the criminally insane.

As much as this marriage to Gibson stigmatized Ann Taylor in the
eyes of Fairfield residents, I don't recall her ever being mentioned
as a disciple of Robin Carlson -- if a sheriff did try to serve some
papers, it was probably at the instigation of Carlson himself (who
committed suicide date unknown).

There is currently a magistrate serving in Fairfield, Benny Wagoner,
who is a TMer (also the current county attorney is a ru), so I think
the people of Fairfield understand that not all TMers are nuts (but
that's usually the way to bet, like they say.)

Hawthorne and others (I'm not sure what Hayward uses) use Jyotish
analysis different from those employed by the TM movement --
"Systems Approach" folks claiming that they have "contemporized"
the ancient science of Jyotish -- which would produce a
substantially different chart from an approach based on the original
Jyotish texts:

http://www.astrosatva.com/about.htm

For my chart, I would only use the software from Parashara's Light,
which I have confidence in based on readings that match
outcomes/influences in my life, and because it does not deviate from
the ancient texts:

An instruction fee has always been part of Vedic culture.
Called "dakshina," it has traditionally been collected after
instruction -- the only change MMY has made, in a node to this
pathetically ignorant age (epitomized in the wheezy crap you post
here), is to front-load the "preceptor's fee." If Lord Krishna
Himself did not object to paying a fee (paid by means of rescuing
the guru's son from death), then nobody has a valid objection to
paying for services rendered, especially when they are of
transcendental value.

Is $2500 too much? It is, from any rational human point-of-view, but
MMY has made it clear that Divine Intelligence recognizes the need
to unfold enlightenment values gradually so as to avoid
creating "fear and havoc" on this ignorant planet:
http://geocities.com/bbrigante/retards.html#light

Your failure to acknowledge this tactic of the Divine Plan is not
surprising, since you have discarded your practice of TM in order to
have more time to tell everybody here what idiots they are for
enjoying growth to enlightenment through TM.

CNN never said that Hagelin's votes in Florida made Bush win. Of all
the third-party candidates, it was far and away Nader's 97K votes
that might otherwise have gone to Gore than enabled Bush to take
Florida:

http://tinyurl.com/8o2yw (Hagelin was so inconsequential in Florida

Nationally, Hagelin got 83K votes (he spent about $25 per vote to
get 'em):

With about 100 ladies on MD, that'll leave room (the place has about
250 rooms, originally designed to double-up the 500 pundits) for a
substantial contingent of Purusha, too, more than the 40 or so who are
said to going to Vedic City rather than Vlodrop.
