Hi-
A couple weeks ago I posted about a foster cat (Oscar) I took in that tested
positive on the SNAP test and negative on the IFA test for FeLV. Prior to the
SNAP test, I had kept him mostly confined but occasionally let him out
supervised. The last time I let him out, he suddenly attacked a

Thanks, Edna. I'll call the vet. I am always trying to save a few pennies,
so I got this at Rite Aide...maybe not the best idea. Thought the
ingredients were the same but maybe they buffer it differently for the cat.
Thanks for the suggestion.

This is the first of two posts--my wordy self had originally tried to post one
long email, but I was over the limit. So, I thought it was a good idea to
break it up. Without further ado--here is part 1--part 2 is being posted
momentarily.

At this point, I would have chalked the seizure up to the mirtaziprine if it
wasn't for the fact that the day before we gave her the drug, Aggie was meowing

Bonnie, I don't know what buffers are used with the tablets. I buy the pure
L-lysine powder from www.iHerbs.com. That way I don't have to worry about
reactions to buffering agents. It comes in a 1 lb jar. I use 1/4 tsp (250 mg)
per qt. of water or per one 5.5 oz can of food.

I just bought Lysine treats from my vet, I had heard some cats hated them
but have had pretty good luck so far--though they need to eat many so might
get tired of them quickly, and, they are expensive, $20 a pouch.

I sprinkle the viralys powder on canned food.

I use advantage. FeLV cats are very prone to Hemobartonella, which will cause
severe anemia & comes from fleas. ALL my cats get Advantage every month & I
have never had a problem. Fleas also cause tape worms which will deprive the
