Re: Junior
Hi Lance and all you great parents, Junior took his last breath at the vet's today with assistance. I would like to say it went well, but his body was shutting down. The sedative did not calm him. I called the vet back into the room to go ahead and stop his misery. His veins were not cooperating. She had to stick him 4 times that last time she got a smaller needle.(Not her fault, it was the end). Junior had a heart murmur and that is what was going on. I was not going to prolong his misery by heroics. Heroics kept him alive for two years, and that is my greatest gift. Please light a candle for my precious baby. My heart is breaking. Send Junior to the CLS list with his brother Tiny who left me Christmas day a year ago. I will share what I can about this horrible disease. Re: Junior
HI Kerry Thanks you for the hugs. My head knows Junior is happy and whole. My heart is broken. His roomate spike just jumped up on my lap to let me know she is a love kitty. When I first joined this group I almost had to leave it seemed like someone baby was passing away all the time. It hurt so much to think about it. I knew I had to stay because I learned so much. Junior lasted a year and a half. I consider that a gift. To all you presently fighting the disease it is worth the rollercoaster you may be on. You never know your kitty may be the one to live a long happy life you have to give him/her that chance. Junior is six this year. Sally On Fri, Mar 14, 2008 at 11:51 AM, MacKenzie, Kerry N. Lance Thanks for your kind thoughts. You are one of the ones that encouraged my in the beginning to fight this. Your help got Junior on Transfer Factor which I fell helped him over the hump. Re: Junior
Caroline, I am Junior is happy to have such and honourable escort in Brumley. Junior has had some journey. I will be lost without him. He asked for nothing from me and gave so much. Every day when I got home from work he would come out of the bedroom looking for me. Of course he wanted food but I always knew that was a good sign. His food today is still on the counter. I cannot give it to anyone else bc his metacam is in it. I bet he already had a better meal on the other side. Sally, You're so very much in my thoughts at this heartbreaking time. I'm in complete agreement with you. Junior deserved the chance that you gave him, and he had a year and a half of quality time. Junior lasted a year and a half. I consider that a gift. To all you presently fighting the disease it is worth the rollercoaster you may be on. Need a rescue near VA for Felv pos snowshoe
Hi, everyone, I'm a volunteer with Siamese Rescue, and I am trying to help a completely charming adult seal point snowshoe male that just tested positive (snap combo test) at my local SPCA. Siamese Rescue does not take Felv pos kitties. Does anyone know of any rescues in or around Virginia who could help? The SPCA is holding him through the weekend, so I need to find help quickly. How is his health overall? Is he healthy or already declining due to FeLV+? Has he been vetted otherwise (neutered, shots, etc)? Re: Junior
Hi I just got more bad news. This time it is from my sister. A stray cat adopted her and finally decided to trust her. He is now her cat. She told me today that he was acting lethargic and had been so for the past couple of day. I told her she needed to get him to the vet. She had never had him in a carrier and was worried she would not be able to do so. Well she took him to the vet, not her usual vet. She said they did blood work. The vet was real nice even told her he liked cats a lot. Now for the bomb the cat is FELV positive. She had already had told the vet Junior's story. She said he gave her all the options including possible euthanasia. He said that did not have to be done right away. For now the cat is home with her. Slinky has become part of her family her cat chasing dogs have accepted him. The vet gave her clavamox and fluids. She said the cat was eating and appeared to be feeling better. They did not get a good temp, estmated at 104-105. So now I ask for prayers for slinky. He will have to be neutered when he is better. She lives in CA in Manteca. She wants to move back to VA in the next year. She is worried about that. I told her not to worry about things to come. If Junior had not passed Slinky may have gotten worse. This way she got Slinky to the vet right away. I figure that in people years I got another 10 years from Junior. Too bad it was short years for me. They were mostly good except for all the worrying. I am here to share what I have learned. Hi, Tracy, Zeplin, the cat in question, was turned in to the SPCA in Harrisonburg, VA. Their policy does not allow adopting him out directly, but they could transfer him to a rescue organization. Currently he has a URI (typical for many cats in shelter situations), but he seems healthy otherwise. Rinn On Mar 14, 2008, at 8:35 PM, Tracy Weese wrote: How is his health overall?
