that it has no dependencies, but I didn't like it at all. Can't remember
why - it just didn't work for me. I think portupgrade probably ruined me
with things like portversion and pkg_deinstall. I'm too lazy for portmaster.

The cause for this confusion is the fact that patches 5 and 6 were for a
userland utility (file) and a library (libarchive), not for the kernel.

I know I've seen the fix for this before, but now that I need it I can't find

I'm setting up a laptop with FreeBSD 6.2. The screen display in X is fine,
but the terminal session screens are tiny, center on the display with several

sysutils to ports-mgmt. That's the cause of missing key: categories.
Anyway, do this and see if it fixes the problem:

It's been my experience that GNOME, in general, works better and
exhibits fewer quirks of the type you describe, if you enable rpcbind
in /etc/rc.conf.
This may or may not solve your particular problem, but it's worth a
try, at least.

I'm running FreeBSD 6.1 Release and after installing a CNet CWP-854 pci
wireless nic and running into some problems with the ral driver I was able to
fix that but now I can't connect to my wireless network.
If I run these commands one at a time:
# ifconfig ral0 inet 192.168.1.42 netmask
get to the Internet via my FreeBSD system.
Can anyone provide me some simple step-by-step directions, or point me
to a web page that has them???

FREEBSD 6.1 RELEASE
I just bought a wireless pci card, CNet CWP-854, and according to the ral man
page this card is supported. I compiled a new kernel with 'device wlan' and
'device ral' as per the ral man page, it compile without any errors, but I
can't get it to work.
If I run: 'ifconfig

I'm looking to buy a PCI Wireless Card for my computer, I'm running FBSD 6.1
release, from what I understand there are only two drivers ath and wi. The
list is very limited on the man page for ath. I'm looking to spend up to
$30.00 on this card. Are there any other choices than those
