Those links both sport some pretty expensive prices. My comparable ASUS
cost about half that, and came with Windows 7 installed (which I simply
erased). Are those prices for real?

Haskell. It's lightweight and fast. It's a developer's WM.
I haven't been at all attracted to the various desktop managers: KDE,
GNOME, etc. What do you get for all that weight?

Looking at the Makefile, it appears that WITHOUT_JAVA needs to be
defined to avoid a dependency.
Looks likle that option is part of the config.
make rmconfig
make install clean
then make sure the first option is unchecked.

broke it if you updated one
or two ports instead of twenty or thirty.
I use the same principle in following STABLE -- frequently update/build so if
anything goes wrong, the number of culpable commits is small.
