Jason,
I never had all of the components, it downloaded the updated direct x for me
when it installed. Took a few attempts, but that was due to errors on my
part.

I wonder why it works on some but not on others. Could everyone that tried
it verify that you have XNA Redistributable 2.0 in your programs list (under
add and remove). Also, .NET Framework version 3.5. One of those seems to be
causing the problem and I think it's the framework.

Thanks for giving us the change to test this out for you, even if the
installer is being a pain! Smile. Just out of curiosity, are you going to
try and get the game to work with older systems? Or will we have to have
at least XP to run it? I know I'm still running on a fairly old system,
I haven't got XNA.

Hi Jason,
I just tried running your test game setup file, and unfortunately received
the following error message: The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain
another copy of the program. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Hi Ann,
You know other than on line like at AllInPlay, I am not sure how one would
write any multiple player card game. You know because I don't know how one
could hear what their cards are without everyone hearing them. Pretty much the
same thing for allot of multiple player games like that
I've updated the setup program. It should be more verbose now. If it didn't
work before, try it again now. Hopefully, this will do it. You need to have
Windows XP SP2 or later. The installer will notify you if it needs to update
the .NET framework.
Also, I set up the forum again. If you'd like to
Hi Jim,
You know, that's a very good point. I admit I hadn't thought of that
problem.
Well, it was a good idea in theory, if not in practicality..

MissWings,
Sorry to hear it wouldn't run. Microsoft put a limit on .NET framework 3.0
for Windows XP and higher. My game needs at least version 3.0 because it
utilizes the newer voice API that comes with it. Although I don't expect the
game to require a lot of processing power, unfortunately it
Hi Jim,
Actually, in this respect each client of the game can work independantly
from each other. For example if I press the 1 through 0 on my keyboard
to see what cards are in my hand Sapi would announce only my cards, in
my hand, and not brodcast it across the network to the other players. It
Hi Miss Wings,
Unfortunately, with the XNA based games you will have to have Windows XP
SP2 or better to run them. Microsoft has dropped .Net support for
everything earlier
than Windows XP SP2 and XNA was designed with the idea that everyone had
at least Windows XP SP2, but is actually better
Hi Jason,
As a fellow .NET Framework developer myself I can certainly help you
figure out the problems hear. However, it would be helpful to know
exactly which language and IDE you used when developing your game.
If you are using XNA Runtime 2.0 then you should have .NET 3.5 also
installed
Hi Jason
Just saying I do have XP, .net 3.5 and the xna stuff. The little program
worked fine from this end. It did update a
component on my system I think it might have been .net. Definitely be happy to
help out with the testing when it's
ready.
Take care Ron

Yes, as I posted.
Joining at a table on:

There are bots. When someone joins the table the bot ris replaced.
Normal tables can have up to 8 players.
There are tables where you start play with 8,5 and 3 cards.
New tables have been added to the mix, which I enjoy.

Hi Shaun,
Yes, you do. The XNA Framework is what he is using not DirectX. Smile.

Hi,
Oh, not sure about that. My broadband lags and when that happens it kicks me
off, so I don't think so.
I am actually in the process of making an online Uno game with sound effects
and human speech, and that should support all levels of internet speeds.
When that's released I'll let you

Hi Shaun,
There is no need to have XNA 1.0 and 2.0 installed together. You are
just waisting space. XNA 2.0 will happily run XNA 1.0 based games.
Cheers.

Hi,
Do we have to register to the forums to be a tester for the game? It's just,
I've never interacted with forums before, so I'm just getting nervous about
having to jump in at the deep end so to speak.

Hi all,
Since my GMail SMTP server doesn't appear to be online, not letting me

Well, it's easier for me to manage everything if everyone is in one place. I
tried to set up the forums so they're accessible, but you do tend to have to
navigate around. So it's not as easy as a mailing list. The forum is pretty
much empty as I only set it up yesterday.

Haha. Well the game I'm writing is complicated. But this test application is

Well, still no luck with this testing application. I still get a don't

Thanks.
