Hi Philip and Thomas,
Guess that maybe I am lucky in that I have some really nice sapi5 voices. Like ATT
Lauren, Crystal, Charles, Mike etc as well as Neo Speech Kate and Paul. But seriously I
like most of my sapi5 voices much better than Eloquence. I write allot of personal
applications
well I usually leave all clients off unless I need em open I don't
background run tasks.
This is mainly due to the fact I spend time playing games, some doing
text books but most listening to sfx and audio drama I don't want to
have to answer messages.

well, in smack me when you start the gamed there are 3 difficulty levels.

Hi Valiant,
I have two problems with recorded speech for games. Well maybe three. One is
that I just do not care for human speech in games. Much prefer a synthesizer.
Two is the amount of time that it takes to do that for a game. Not to mention
the extra code that it takes. And three is

Hi Jim,
I must disagree with you on principle, but agree with you on some practical
points. Smile. You are absolutely right in that a synthesizer is infinitely
more flexible than prerecorded audio, but this flexibility comes at an
obvious cost. Imagine having the dialog in Q9 or Kringle Crash

We'll have to agree to disagree. I personally can't stand synthetic speach
in games unless the characters represented happen to be machines. That's
probably why I could never quite get into the Sarah game.

I agree with you there. I myself se Eloquence with WIndow-Eyes, but if it
weren't for the fast response rate I wouldn't bother. And while Dectalk is
also included that's a voice I can't listen to for extended periods unless
I'm making it sing.

Hi Bryan,
Most of the Sarah game is spoken by humans.
Sarah speaks hundreds of things and the Caretaker is done by Josh.
I got volunteers to be Sarah's Father and Mother, and the Sphinx, and Mrs.
Honeyduke, Sir Cadagan and the 7 potion puzzle in the update.
The only voices that are synthesized

Not necessarily. In x hour, I think the voice as the intro to the mission
works interestingly well, and in that episode is ok I guess. But the rest
of it I don't like at all.

Well, I find that a bit unusual. Back when I started using screen

Hi Bryan,
Ummm...Synthetic voices in Sarah? What version are you talking about?
Sarah 1.0 and 1.1 use a lot of human speech recordings. The caretaker

the only thing that is synthetic is the ghosts and the help menu.

Hi Jim,
Well, once again this is an issue that depends on the type of game the
developer is attempting to create. In your games like Monopoly I
certainly don't mind a Sapi voice speaking out the information because
it is very dinamic and there doesn't need to be any acting in it.
However, most
The ghosts are still synthetic. That always detracted from the gameplay for

Good point. I've never liked that aspect of the game either. However,

Hi,
A little off topic but how do you get a speech synthesizer to sing? Though I
can't stand Decktalk myself, and I find that eEloquence pronounces words

I always find voice-over easier as my acurisy on screen without it isn't
good. It's like in Aurifi when they ask you to draw a shape on screne.
