Hi Thomas,
Thank you. I was pretty much planning on going with the 32 bit system. I may
be wrong, but I also thought that Jaws had a problem with the 64 bit system.
But I was just thinking that the 32 bit system would be more friendly with my
old VB6 games and other old software that I
jaws works ok with 64 bit systems but you have to have jaws 10 or newer.

well I have always liked 32 bit systems I have had them all my life and
traditionally they are supported.
however win7 will be the last system you can run on them at the moment.
Frankly I still like xp, its old faithfull and although it has its issues
doesn't bother the user.

Hi Bryan,
Thanks, that makes me less nervous about when I need to buy a new Windows 7

Well, there is system security to keep in mind. Knock on wood I have not
gotten one virus on my Windows Vista or Windows 7 based systems yet.
However, I've had several virus problems with Windows XP. In fact, the

Hi Bryan,
Like I said all of the ATT voices that are Sapi 5 compatible work fine
on Vista and Windows 7. The only thing I can think of that would have
caused Brandon's problem is he upgraded to Windows 7 64 which will break
compatibility with lots of older programs. So my advice to anyone

actually, i was using vista 32-bit and t said it wouldn't work with this
operating system. haven't tried them on 7 32-bit yet but i'm now running that

Thanks, I now really hope to stick with XP for awhile. Just like the way
everything that I have works. Would really miss all of the voices that I now

You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me.

Hi Thomas,
I'm pretty sure that all of my ATT voices are sapi 5.1 since they work with my
games. Same with my Neo Speech and Cepstral voices.
The only thing is, in VB6 I need to add the Microsoft speech object library in
references and I don't think that it would be in the list if I do not
i'm sure your voices would still work. i only know the atnt ones didn't but
don't know if any of the others would work. think they would. but someone with
windows 7 would have to test them.

Hi Jim,
No, you don't need the SDK to include the Sapi dll file to a VB 6

available for these languages with or without the SDK. All the SDK does
is provides end user documentation, and the C++ headers and libs, plus

well I was thinking I would have to upgrade at least one reader to use windows7

However by pure luck someone has a spare of xp so I am seriously thinking about
just getting another system, putting xp on
Hi Brandon, Thomas and all,
So if I buy a computer running Windows 7 with MS TTS 5.3 Anna, would I be able to

And would I not be able to install the sapi 5.1 SDK so as to be able to
continue to create games

Yeah, we have had this same discussion a few times before. I actually got the

I am very sad to hear that the sapi voices are not working for you with my

Hi,
I would also like to add if you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7
don't install the Sapi 5.1 runtime or SDK as that will make the problem
worse. Vista and above use Sapi 5.3, and installing an older version of
