If you were playing multiple computer ooponents, your going to have multiple buildings in one square. Both of the computers follow the same code, so if one finds a resource and builds, and a second finds that same resource, they're both going to have buildings there. - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Date sent: Thu, 22 Dec 2011 16:01:43 -0500 Subject: Re: [Audyssey] My Latest SoundRTS Battle Hi Dark, Yeah, tell me about it. In one of the games I played today there was a keep and a townhall in the same sector. I couldn't figure out why the computer AI would do something like that. It seems to me like a waste of resources that could have been spent on a sawmill, blacksmith, or something else more useful to it. Its not the first time i've seen the AI make unusual choices like that which makes no sense at all other than the computer randomly decided to set a building their regardless if it needed one or not. Hi John, That would make sense if I were playing multiple opponents, but in the case where the town hall and keep were side by side was in a game with only one aggressive computer opponent. So this is definitely a bug or problem with the computer AI where it doesn't consider weather or not a new town hall is needed where a keep or castle is already present at the site. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] For my fellow gamers.
Hi Dark, I agree about Puppy 1. I'd definitely class Puppy 1 as an arcade game as it doesn't attempt to simulate flight in any way shape or form. No realistic physics modeling, 3d airial combat, etc It is rather simplistic in terms of flying games because the plane moves straight ahead, without any ability to turn, bank, roll, whatever. You can pan left or right, ascend, or descend and that's pretty much it. That, however, doesn't mean the game isn't fun, but its not realistic enough to be classed as a sim in my book. Cheers! On 12/22/11, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: woopse ron, you got an h in the wrong place while saying Zero sight: though if by that you mean that the game has zero shite, ie, is a very good game with no problems, I agree :D. Glad you like Tdv, I was involved with voice acting there as you know, and had a lot of fun doing it. I also do know a lot of work went into the game. As to Puppy1, I'm afraidd I don't personally class that as a flight sim, sinse it's based on racking up score, and the flying itself is fairly simple, which is indeed why in the audiogames.net db it's listed as arcade games and even if we have a simulation games catagory probably will stay as an arcade game. not a cryticism, Puppy1 is often a game I stick on for a quick blast, just an opinion on the games' genre. I've never got the hole business with ms flight simulator and all the bells and whistles you need, so thanks for the explanation there. Beware the grue! We have extensive audio tutorials to get beginners going, and a very easy and quick setup procedure to get rolling quick. We keep our prices reasonable, because we know budgets are strainged out there. Also, players are allowed to play free for a full month to try the games out and see what they think when they register a new account. Best of all, we have a thriving community of folks that enjoy getting together to play, chat, and share some fun. So my recommendation is build a couple of farms and then give yourself about 10 peasants to get started. After you have established a decent sized work force you can begin mining for gold, creating lumber for buildings, and add a few foot soldiers to guard your territory. After that expand as needed and upgrade your military so you can fend off and eventually wipe out the enemy forces. Cheers! [Audyssey] big changes coming to core exiles.
Hi all, For the ce players on this list and for anybody who is interested I just read this on the ce fb page: Have you signed up for the newsletter yet? No? Well take a look at the information below so you know what you missed out on. It’s been a long time in the making, in fact 100′s of hours of coding and beta testing have gone into Level Six Settlements and all that it will soon open up. We’ re not quiet there yet, but we are close enough that the real testing has began and to start converting rumors into facts. Level Six Settlements Taking your settlement from Level 5 to Level 6 is the ultimate upgrade for a settlement owner. It allows you to start helping to shape the game and provide resources and services your fellow captains will be clamoring to use. Level Six is not a cheap path, and only those that are dedicated and have the resolve to do so will make it work. Level 6 six will allow your settlement to choose a ‘spec’, these come with three types of content. Commercial / Industrial Center, Ship Crafting and Starbase Crafting. Each spec will require a large quantity of time and money to get to grips with and don’t expect to make back your investment any time soon, but you will find your services in great demand, and after all you can set your own prices so who knows! Level Six will also allow for bigger and better buildings, mores choice and more options for stores and support industries. Player Made Ships We will be introducing a new element to Core-Exiles at the same time Level Six is released, that being ‘Corporations’. Your own space based enterprise. Build and run your own corporation from a single ship to an entire fleet with offices spanning the known Galaxies. But, everything hinges around your fellow Settlement owners manufacturing you the ships you will so desperately need! Player Made Starbases Settlements choosing this path for their spec will be able to manufacture the massive Hubs required for player Starbase deployment. Your own Starbase on the map! A huge responsibility and with it a gargantuan list of requirements and costs! But, it all relies on your fellow Level Six settlement owners! Commercial Industrial It’s not difficult to imagine that with the massive requirements there are going to be a huge demand for modules, components, resources and such like. Commercial spec’d settlements will play a vital role in fulfilling these requirements. It’s not going to be cheap and it’s not going to be easy but its sure as hell gonna be fun! Preparation is Key Upgrading to Level Six is just the beginning. Once there you will need to research every scrap of information you can find and think long and hard about your options. Players will be needing the services of all the level 6 settlements and it will be down to you to provide those services. All those hard earned credits and resources you’ve been saving for a rainy day? Well its about to begin to pour down! So be ready to empty the coffers and convert every last scrap of resource you have to attain your goals. This is just a taste of whats coming your way. We will begin to post more over the coming weeks, but get those harvests and extractors busy folks, get your banks topped off and consider yourselves on warning - LEVEL SIX IS COMING! Yeah, Lone Wolf doesn't necessarily stick to true physics either, but as you pointed out the experience does feel more realistic as a simulation than Zero Sight when we come down to a one on one comparison between the two. I honestly think Lone Wolf sets a president for any kind of combat simulation because it offers several starter missions, the ability to create custom missions, and the user interface is fairly straight forward. The keyboard commands are easy to remember because they make sense. A for area, f for fuel, d for depth, s for speed, etc are logical assignments. With Zero Sight I felt as though some keyboard assignments didn't make sense, and having 0 oriented to east instead of north just made the game too confusing for me.I'm willing to keep an an open mind about the game, but unless some of the things I don't particularly like get changed in the future I probably won't buy Zero Sight. Chris, firstly I'd recommend setting the forum to display the max amount of posts per page, ie 75. New posts do have the word new on them so if Jaws has a feature where you can find text you could always use it, but myself I just go to the edit area in the quick reply box at the bottom then tab back to my own last post or the last one I read. I don't believe I've ever seen a Pun bb system with the ability to display only certain posts and not others. Re: [Audyssey] Wii Gaming with Laptop Computer
Hi Dallas, Yeah, I know about using Wii-Motes with some PC games. Now, that I actually own a Wii I have been considering adding Wii-Mote support to my G3D engine to take advantage of being able to use my Wii-Motes in my games. However, that wasn't my impression of Sharon's question though. As I understand her question I think she was asking about how to play Wii games on her laptop. As you know you can't just buy Legend of Zelda or whatever, stick it in your disc drive, and play it on a PC. I wasn't sure if she was asking about PC games with Wii-Mote support, or actually playing Wii games like Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Wii Sports, etc on her PC. Re: [Audyssey] Shard Workshop Zero Sight released!
Hi muhammed. the issue is about angles around a circle and how they show direction of travel. I'm not sure how much geometry in maths you've done yet, but the basic idea is very simple. Imagine a circle like a clock face, but instead of numbers 1-12, you have 360 degrees spaced around the circle. By saying turnt to such and such a degree, you dictate how much about the circle someone turns, hence the expression a 180 degree turn, which is half of 360, ie, turning around and facing the opposite way. the problem is in zero sight where the zero point of the circle is. In the true cartesian mathematical method as Tom said, zero is on the eastern side of the circle where the three would be on a clock, so in Zero sight you'd need to turn your plane to angle 90 degrees to go north. however, most people here are used to the system lone wolf has and the system used by the military, where zero is held to be north, thus corresponding to where the 12 would be on a clock. that's personally the method I prefer, 0 at north, 90 east, 180 south and 270 west, for navigating in real time i find that makes a good bit more sense, even though in maths that's not what you'd draw. Re: [Audyssey] For my fellow gamers.
Hi Thomas, Yes, Puppy 1 is a game and not a flight simulation program. The only thing that is real about it is that all of the planes and each bullet do have an x, y and z coordinate that are up dated about 20 times per second. If I could write a real flight simulation program I would want to use real longitude, latitude and altitude coordinates. You know like maybe start out at the correct longitude, latitude and altitude coordinates of the Cleveland Hopkins International airport. Then be able to fly to and land at Burk Lakefront airport. And then maybe fly to the Cuyahauga airport. And then back to the Cleveland Hopkins International airport. But to fly say from the Cleveland Hopkins International airport to say L.A.X. would just be boring. One would just take off, gain altitude, set a heading and let the plane fly for hours and hours, until you got near L.A.X. I did really enjoy the Microsoft flight simulation program when I still had a tiny bit of sight. It even allowed me to set longitude, latitude and altitude coordinates. And soon I was flying around the Brooklyn bridge, the Statue of Liberty and even the Twin Towers. BTW My Dad's life long hobby was building and flying remote control gas powered model airplanes. Most were built from kits that you buy, but he did at one point start designing and building his own planes. The first was a biplane and was named Puppy 1. Puppy 2 was also a biplane, but puppy 3 was not. I myself have always been more into gas or electric powered remote control cars, trucks and all terrain vehicles. I have ten of them. also, if you think of the clock like this. Each number on the clock is spaced 30 degrees apart. So from twelve o'clock high, would be either 360 or 0. But from twelve to one you would have 030, from one tow two, you would have 060, from two to three, you would have 090, from three to four you would have 120, from four to five you would have 150 and from five down to six would be 180 and so on. Also, I've also learned from reading and from fsx and the IYP project, that when you file your flight plan or fp, just a hair to the right of twelve and down to just a hair to the left of six will be odd numbered altitudes. Flight level 19,000 or 190 or 1 9er 0, 210,000 or 210 and so on. From just a hair to the right of six and up to just a hair to the left of twelve o'clock will be even number flight levels or fl. 18,000 or 180, 20,000 or 200 and so on. Also, I can't remember, but if I do remember correctly? SMILES. It is either 500 ft clearance space for safety all around and above and under the plane, or it's 1,000 feet all around and above and under the aircraft for safety. At least here in the states. Maybe someone could educate me on that. But hope that helps out everyone. No, flights don't take hours, but you set the heading and sometimes have to wait a longer period of time than in most games, a good five minutes or so on some occasions before you get to where your going, however even whilst your doing that, you have to stay alert in case you run into any nasties. The first was a biplane and was named Puppy 1. hi, yes, it could be boring, ... to some. and yes, pilots don't have a lot of things to do during the flight usually, but they are there to keep an eye on things. and you could set up a sim to randomly throw things at you to deal with during the flight. so an hour in to the flight, you might have and elecrical alarm go off, and you have to decide if your going to just ignore it, and keep flying, or land to have it checked out, in which case, you will have to divert, and reset your flight plans. also, it might be boring to some, but some, like myself, would actually enjoy this kind of game. also, if its realisticly based, perhaps even drawing info from real world weather like fs flight sims can, this could make things interesting during a flight to. such as having to divert around a storm cell, divert ot a new airport nearby if the runway is unusable at your destination, and many many other things that a real pilot has to deal with. dallas On 12/24/2011 8:26, Jim Kitchen wrote: Hi Thomas, Yes, Puppy 1 is a game and not a flight simulation program.
