Re: [Audyssey] Awsome Homer
I know this sounds weird but, when I had Awesome Homer on my vista computer and, I was at level 4 I did good with holding down the control key while moving with the arrow keys. But now on my windows 7 computer when I do that I run into trees. I don't know if its the windows version I'm using or what. I did have a problem a couple times where jaws would come up and, say sticky keys. I don't know if that has any thing to do with it or not. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Hi Curt, Yeah, sorry about that. I should not have used the shift key for plowing I E slowing down as it is one of the keys that if you press it too many times within a certain amount of time you get the Windows sticky keys thing come up. When or if I used it, I just held it down and I guess never got the sticky keys thing. Hi Christian, If you run into cars too many times, or do not keep on the gas peddle, you will run out of fuel. The first two cars just randomly move back and forth. So you have to listen to where they are at and move to where they are not at. The next car tries to stay in front of you. So wait until you are right on it's bumper and swerve left or right at the last second. The next two cars are not too hard to pass, but they do drop oil and throw bananas. So you have to very quickly swerve when you hear that, or from practice know when they are about to do that and not be behind them at that time. Then the last car with Gonk and Marge is not hard to pull up beside to rescue Marge. I hope that helps. I personally found centering the chimps and igorning the projectiles worked best for me, sinse the projectiles only start moving a bit after the chips appear, and can be harder to here once they've been moving a bit. Hi Dark, Oh yeah, you are correct. The projectiles are much more difficult to hear than the chimp sounds. That is why I move the projectiles and the chimp sounds simultaneously. Re: [Audyssey] Awsome homer thoughts
Hi Dark, In Master Mind and level 5 of Awesome Homer I usually do 1 1 2 2, then 3 3 4 4, then 5 5 6 6. Of course some times the results change that, but that is how I usually start. I liked your logic though and will have to try that a few times. BFN - Original Message - Hi Mich. I'm afraid the combination is simply jim's mastermind game (you can play the game in it's own right by downloading it from jim's site). the combination changes each time I believe, You just need to use logic to work it out by being told what is in the right place and what isn't. so I started with 1 1 1 1, and was told one number was correct and in the right place. I then tried 1 2 2 2 , and could be certain that one number would be correct sinse it had a 1, if there were anymore it'd be a 2. As it happened I was told that 1 was right and in the right place, so I knew that first number was 1. i then tried 1 3 3 3 and was told two were right and in right place, so I knew one of those last three numbers wa s a3. I then tried 1 3 4 4 and was told one was right and right place (the one), and one right in wrong place, so I knew the second number wasn't 3, and also that the combination didn't contain fours. I then tried 1 5 3 5 and was told I had two right in right place and two right in wrong place. sinse I knew the 1 was right and one of the fives was right, the three must go at the end, thus the combination turned out to be 1 5 5 3. As I said, to practice this sort of logic, just get jim's mastermind game and play it a few times. Hth. Beware the grue! Dark. Re: [Audyssey] Awsome homer thoughts
Hi Jim. I've always used that method on mastermind games previously, sinse it seems the most streight forward and can quickly determine when a set has none of a particular number. I'll try 1 1 2 2 as well myself for variety next time I play, for the variety. I think though ultimately, the method you use doesn't really matter so long as you have enough logic to interpret the results according to what numbers you put in and what stays the same. Re: [Audyssey] Awsome homer thoughts
Hi Jim. that is true about mazes, though for me the fun is exploring the hole maze especially if the enviornment or hazards change as you explore it, pluss if the maze is large enough you cannot memorize it's entire route. Turrican and it's sequal, Turrican 2 which are largely the reason I became interested in computer games have huuge! 2D platforming mazes, with many different ways to go. finding the exit is only part of the fun, sinse there are hidden power ups and extras, as well as more enemies to fight or other hazards. this for me is a good bit of the fun of gaming, exploring and seeing what you find. i do have one question about the homer maze though. I understand the wind sound indicates a turn, however sometimes if I walk in a streight line I get the wind sound then the ambience changes. Does this indicate I've turned another direction, or is this just a break in the tunnel. Do I in fact only turn when I physically use the left or right arrow keys to do so. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Awsome homer thoughts
Hi Dark, If you hear the turning sound or a bumping sound and then the ambiance sound changes, you have turned into a new cave. Lack of fore planning ended up with some giving you the bumping into a wall sound and some not. But if the ambiance sound changes, you have turned into a new cave. At the end of the main cave is a T and you will automatically turn randomly left or right. Other T intersections always turn to the same direction. And you will always automatically turn when you run into the end of a cave. Oh yeah, if you run into the door that you came into the caves through, you will turn around 180 degrees and head back the other way. Hi Dark, Yeah, I guess if I created a huge multi level maze with some random hazards and maybe even some things to collect and monsters to fight etc. Oh wait, that is MOTA! grin But really I create games as much for me to play as for others. So I still do not see that much replay value in a maze. I had a heck of a time finishing creating level 6 as I was just not inspired to finish and play it. And actually the same for level 4 as I started out creating it as one fixed slalom course. And again was just not inspired to finish and play it. Level 2 was much as I actually imagined any 2d move ledge section in a platformer like the airman jumps from mega man to work in audio, with sounds for the various moving ledges as they move that the player has to caluclate distance betwen. Three was tough until I worked out that I was supposed to center the sound of the chimps, rather than their projectiles. I also liked the variety of chimp slaughtering sounds there, it made the level much more fun ;D. Level five was sort of amusing, and now I'm on level 6 in the underground maze. I really liek the way different areas are marked out by different litle bits of nes music, which gives a distinct sense of background and progress, however I must admit there are a couple of basic audio maze navigation commands that I'm rather missing, namely a way to tell what direction your facing, and possibly an ability to speak your coordinates. I'm certainly not stuck, and will enjoy exploring the maze, but if Jim's planning on any other maze exploration type of games in future along these lines (something which would be fun), I'd like to see at least these commands added, just to give the player a bit more information, especially for people who's ability to streight out mental map isn't as good (I wound up turning back the way I faced and dying in a river I'd already crossed which wasn't good). I certainly like the use of audio landmarks etc, but perhaps these commands could be added, especially as I said, if Jim is thinking of doing something else with a maze next, perhaps a hole game of them. Re: [Audyssey] Awsome homer thoughts
Hi Mich.
