Just incase people are wandering why some golf courses don't read or run.
Jim, the golf files are .gcf not .gcx
I just renamed a;; tje .gcx files to .gcf and there are loads all the

Hey, that was a pretty tough golf course. Loved all of the descriptions. And
using AT&T Lauren only a couple of words got spelled rather than pronounced.
Still with only one l stil for instance. But still lots of fun, thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] golf course for fun

2011-06-15 Thread dark

Hi Kelly.

I presume these are commas, however I'm not really sure what to do about
them or what punctuation the golf course maker will take never having made a
course with it befor. Perhaps Jim can confirm this, and if it's an issue
I'll open the file in notepad and reeddit it to remove the punctuation which
doesn't work.

I just tried your new golf course file, and so far it's pretty good. The
one thing I've noticed, though, at least when using one of the Ivona TTS

2011-06-14 Thread dark

Hi Jim.

I meant just renaming it to something that worked minus the comma, sinse I
didn't notice the mistake until after I'd uploaded it.

I just wanted the comma for gramatical reasons to deliniate the title from
the subt title in the name, but if this isn't workable fair enough.

Hi Dark,

I am not positive, but I do not think that commas are ever a good thing in
a file name. I just for a test tried to copy an existing file giving it a
comma and it gave me an error. That was at the command prompt. I guess
it will work if you use f2 in Windows, but I believe that VB6 would not
like it as a comma is a delimiter in VB6. I'll give it a try some time
though.

But I also am not sure what you meant about me changing the name of the

Also, don't forget to download and install all of the files of additional
golf courses that people have created for the game. There are loads of golf
courses to play if you get them all. It's sort of like the user created
missions of Lone Wolf, if you play that game. You get 17 missions with the
game, but can download loads of others for more fun. HTH.

Hi Robyn,

To get my golf game, just go to my web site. The file name is
wingolfx.exe and The file can be found on my free windows sapi5 text to
speech games page. Please do first get the winkit.zip file and run the
setup.exe in it before installing the golf game. The winkit.zip file is

Re: [Audyssey] golf questions

2008-05-01 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Josh,

It looks like I accidently left the default voice set to the third voice in the
golf course maker program. But if you press the f12 key and set it to the
voice that you want, it will use that voice until you change it again.

Someone made the golf indicator sound file with the beeps because it helps some
with some hearing difficulties. It was passed around and finally brought to my
attention, so I just added it to the game so that there is a choice. Depending
on your reaction time, hitting the key as soon as you hear the first beep, you
will get full power out of your club.

Hi Josh.

as far as the sound files go, the regular power indicator is just an
ascending tone, the one with beeps has a beep just before the top and
another just after, - though propper timing even with those takes
practice.

I personally prefer the beep versions myself.

Hi,

I have put a new file up on my site.

File name wingolfx.exe File size 1.7m bytes

In version 10 I have improved the way that the pitching wedge and irons work
in the sand trap. Also it now announces the distance that your shot went
even when it lands on the green. We have added 100 new descriptions that
you can use when creating a golf course. I have separated the two programs
into the golf game and the golf course maker program. When creating a golf
course you can now say if you want a pond next to the green or not and you
can now type in your own custom descriptions.
There are now 242 golf courses included with the game.

The file can be found on my free windows text to speech games page.

Re: [Audyssey] Golf and Simon

2007-01-15 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Aaron,

I will think about it. Like for Monopoly where you name the files
MonopolyBoardDoctorWho.txt you will need to name the files
SimonCustomDoctorWho1.wav SimonCustomDoctorWho2.wav, SimonCustomDoctorWho3.wav
etc. However since the 26 sets of (234) sound files that I recorded / cut /
edited already take up the alpha bit the custom ones will not be able to be put
in a hyper text menu system. But in the mean time if you get board with the
sound files that you put in as simon21.wav simon22.wav, simon23.wav,
simon24.wav, simon25.wav, simon26.wav, simon27.wav, simon28.wav and simon29.wav
you can always swap them out for new ones.

Hi Aaron,

I'm sorry, but those are two different games with different concepts. The
Trivia game engine was written with the idea that people would create files for
the engine thus the game is looking for all files in that folder with the file
extension tgf and then lists as it's name each of those files. Similarly the
golf game now looks for all files in that folder with the extension gcf and
lists all of those files. On the other hand the Simon game is looking to see
if you have put wave files in the folder named simon21.wav through simon29.wav.
So there is no way for the game to pick up a name of that group of sound
files. I did not intend the game to be so that one could add thousands of your
custom sets of files as the trivia engine and golf game can do. I kind of

but you made it in the trivia game so you use up and down arrows, and make
your own trivia sets. can't you do the same with simon?
title=doctor who sounds
so you use up and down arrows and then it says: doctor who sounds.
you would then go assigning sounds to numbers.
sound4key1=simon21.wav
sound4key2=simon22.wav
sound4key3=simon23.wav
etc etc etc
and you can then go on with other sets, using simon 30, simon 31

2007-01-14 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Damien,

Actually I have used Jaws and nothing but Jaws since Jaws for dos version 1. I
probably should have said that I do not want to support instead of saying
promote the windows text version of Trucker. Putting text on the screen just
didn't work out so good for me and windows games. Truthfully though I like
many of the sapi5 voices better than the Eloquence ones especially the female
ones. Plus one can do so much more when programming with sapi5 rather than
trying to get a screen reader to read text on the screen in windows.

2007-01-13 Thread x-sight interactive
no, there was no selfvoicing version. the version he was thinking of sent
text to the screenreader, so he probably thought that that was selfvoicing,
like i did at one point.

Hi Josh,

Mostly the cheats were being able to use your driver to hit your ball out of a
sand trap. That and being able to use your other woods in the sand trap or
after you put your ball into the water and stuff like that. I am pretty sure
that no one can now use their driver or wood club when it is not appropriate to
do so.

Hi Dark,

I'm not sure. I did spend allot of time coming up with the 26 sets of sound
files for the Simon game. Not sure when I might be up to doing more for it.
Adult files seem to be a theme for the requests. Just need some female
volunteers.

Truthfully I haven't changed the golf game much after the create your own
courses part. That sure has been fun to collect and play the courses that
others have created and shared.

Thanks for saying that you are enjoying the games.

Re: [Audyssey] Golf and Simon

2007-01-12 Thread Dark
Indeede, fantastic job with both games, deffinately the most fun version of
Simon out there thus far (I love the simpson's sounds), will there be extra
sound sets for it in the future?

As to golf, great job, I'm particularly pleased you included a repeat last
shot key, sinse this is something I kept forgetting.

It's quite odd, I'm not particularly a sports fan, but I very much enjoy the
Golf game, and didn't find it difficult to wrap my brain around the game
rules.

I'll be looking forward to whatever the Kitchen serves next ;D.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

Jim your golf game was great but now it's absolutely fantastic. I've been
beating the hide off of a good Scottish friend and we are both blown away by
these improvements. He was getting nearaer to beating me but now i have so
many more courses to choose from. Thanks so very much.

Hi Shaun,

Yes, you can still use the arrow keys to move through the list of golf courses.
I just had to add the hyper key thing because there are so many courses now.
It just makes it quicker and easier to get to some of the courses.

Re: [Audyssey] Golf V8

2006-07-28 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Kay,

Yes the new version of golf will replace the old version, so there is no need
to run the uningolf.bat file, but you could if you wanted to. It would delete
all of your old records though.

Hi Nicol,

I just made up that recommended club selection as a hint or help guide line
thing. You may be able to hit further than it says, but probably not on a
regular basis. But as I said it is just a guide line hint thing. Your mileage
may vary.
