I'm trying to compile gimp 2.6.1 but I first need to
install GEGL. So far I can't get past ./configure:

Ah, that's the problem. I compiled glib with the defaults
and pkg-config wasn't finding it in /usr/local. Thanks!

Hello,
I'm working out of Learning Web Design by Jennifer
Niederst, and it uses Photoshop for dealing with
graphics. I've instead opted to use GIMP, and I'm
wondering if there is an equivalent to "Constrain
Proportions" and "Resample Image" options for resizing
an image. For example, the book says
All the margins are set to 0.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rick

I've been trying to do something really simple and
just not quite getting it. I have a small animated gif
(http://dating.blameitonlove.com/mods/smileys/images/roll.gif)
and I want to turn the white background transparent. Is
there an obvious way to do this that I'm missing?

No, they're all white. I need to make them transparent.

Thanks! What I was missing was deleting the selection. I knew it
had to be something simple ;)

I developed the habit of just clicking on a menu without bringing focus to
the program (by clicking on the title bar first).
Any insights?

Gimp-generated jpeg files are viewed with web browsers just fine, but
ImageMagick's display says "Cannot map file", but still displays the jpeg.
However, xv will not display them at all. Can anybody shed some light on
these?

The bottom line is: I want the same functionality in 4.0.3 as I had in

Can somebody help me out?

What is the best way to go about altering the comment string in a jpeg file?
I don't want to have to open the file, edit the comment, and then save the
file again, in fear of loosing more image quality. Even a command-line
utility is acceptable, if GIMP doesn't have this feature.

Hi,
Using Iphoto on Mac, can upload photos and edit them no probs, but when I
save them back to Imac they disappear. I can save them on my desktop and
them import them, but can I save them directly to Iphoto?
