Greetings all,
Has anyone attempted to capture messages written to the syslog daemon (ie.
syslog.log)? We have a network monitoring tool that can give us the status and
availability of servers on our network. I'd like the ability to write to the
system console but there doesn't appear to be a

The Subject Line pretty much sums up the question. We're converting our

Hello all,
Anyone know anything about the InfoPrint GUI? In particular, I've been told
(it's in the manual) that changes made using the GUI are not permanent. They
will revert back after an IPL. Management wants us to use the GUI, but that is
not acceptable. Am I missing something?

Hello Friends,
Has anyone had any success using (or diagnosing failures) when using the
SMFLIMxx parameter? We have a few CICS and database regions and one unrepentant
job that refuse to run.

I guess I’m not really explaining myself too well here. Firstly, I'm not

How can I determine where a software product is pulling the serial number of

Hello friends,
We're experiencing some weird DFSORT behavior after replacing our DS8100 with a
DS8800. Immediately after we configured and then moved our page datasets to a
DS8800, a number of DFSORT jobs started consuming all available (and sometimes
not so available) memory. We noticed in
Changes in paging activity? Okay, THAT did change when this occurred. We page
like hell bent for leather. Our page data sets fill up like crazy and NEVER
empty. When these jobs run, they page everything they can out of memory.
All DFSORT options are defaults - we're using DFSORT through DB2.
Thanks, I felt so alone. Like we were the only ones having this problem.

Ok - this is EXACTLY what we're seeing now. The one issue is that when the page
data sets fill up, they never get emptied and we end up having to add new ones.
What do people do? We can't IPL every week or go on adding page datasets
indefinitely.
