I had problems to solve to combine old SMF records (0/IPL, 90(5A)/System
Status) when 4-char SMFID/SYSPLEX/SYSNAME are duplicated on different machines
as the CPUTYPE and serial number are not in most of the SMF records. I did ask
IBM to add those to the SMF header some time ago. I think
I don't consider myself a "systems programmer" any longer... I assume the only
safe way to do this is with an IPL. I don't know if changing this dynamically
is an option. There will be no issue with SCRT. SYSNAME is in both the SMF 70
and SMF 89 records that SCRT processes. SCRT can handle
to the SMF89 record.)
Most of my licensees have 4-char SMFID=SYSNAME. I have a few customers where
they are different. As others have written some sites have found interesting
uses for the extra four characters in SYSNAME.

just move the peak. At many sites the monthly 4HRA peaks are not predictable.

RMF will be in the PRODFEAT fields of TYPE89-2 (PDB.TYPE892 in MXG) but SCRT
does not read that field and SCRT does not report that fields. In the same
records, the PRODREGS should be zero if you are not using RMF.

My analysis uses SMF data and is based only on public documentation of the SMF
data. I have to explain my analysis to customers and clients so anything I
might know under NDA is not useful in those circumstances.

The examples did not use anything exotic like that. This was direct attached
DASD and the write misses were occasionally half a second and that showed up in
the SMF42-6 data as that records average and maximum service times.

The initial capping checkbox on the HMC is the original (back to the 3090?)
PR/SM Hard Capping control. HardCapped LPARs do not work with Defined Capacity
or LPAR Group Capacity Limits.

FWLC was introduced with Workload License Charges, z/OS and the z900. This is a
metric per footprint, regardless of the size of the machine. MVS DITTO V2
(5695-100) is one of these products. The price of FWLC products is not based on
the size of the full CPC MSU. This product is being increased
