Gary, thanks to Nick's DX Fishbarrel which still showed 774 at pretty nice levels, I tuned them in only to be still hearing their sign-off routine! Heard about equal on both my north and west corner fed loops. This is at 8:42 AM local, well over 90 minutes past our local dawn! 15:42 UTC.

[IRCA] TPs for 16 October 2013

2013-10-16 Thread Walter Salmaniw
A very mediocre morning for me, but happy to report that my antennae are working quite well today. Only a handful of stations audible at poor levels. Just barely able to make out Australia on 612 and 1116, and 774 from Japan (which was the strongest). A sudden dip at 14:02, though. Listened

2013-10-17 Thread Walter Salmaniw
Listened today from 13:40 to past 14:00, and down compared to the feeble efforts of yesterday. No DU at all up to 14:03 UTC. The NHK2 stations on 774, and 828 came in quite well, better than yesterday. Easy to follow. Nothing at all in the upper half of the band. At 14:04, 774 is pretty

[IRCA] TP for 19 Oct 2013 from Victoria: Not too shabby

2013-10-19 Thread Walter Salmaniw
As others have posted, reception wasn't too shabby this morning, in Victoria, BC. What was most impressive, was the staying power of several stations well past 8:00 AM local, including VOA on 1575 and 972 HLCA. I didn't think the first tier JJ stations were particularly strong this morning. It

Nothing to report from my location in Victoria, BC this morning. Found a fault in my West Corner fed loop in the 16:1 matching transformer. The outer (coax braid) had come off, and the result was a dead TP band, though Nick's DX Fishbarrel had decent conditions. All back to normal now.
