Here is a question that has been bothering me for some time. And with the
current lull on the LUG, I thought I'd seek an answer now. What is the
difference between "Master Sources default to Published or Unpublished"?
(RE: Customize 7.2) The Help file was of no help.

rasp the intended use of the Show Entire

Not in the Name list. The "search" as you type a name is a built-in
feature of MS Access and only works for beginning characters.
You can use search to find people with a surname containing Santiago.
