Dear Daniel,

thanks for your quick help! It turned out, as far as I see, that the problem
with too large margins in cells only happens with itemize-style (or enumerate).
So I have to change the prefs of that style it seems. How could I achieve this?

Removing space to the margins in a table…

2021-11-14 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear all,

I use LyX 2.3.6.2 on OS 10.14.6 with Koma-script-book with enumitem. Is it
possible to change the spacing to the margins (upwards, downwards) in the cells
of a table? Could someone please tell me the corresponding commands? Or do I
have to proceed differently?

Thanks, all best

Multipage-tables

2021-11-03 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I use LyX 2.3.6.2 on MacOS 10.14.6 and Komscript report.

Could someone please tell me to achieve that a table that is in a sliding
object and rotated 90° can be displayed multi-page? I have checked this option
in the table's settings dialogue, but it has no effect - I only ever get the
middle part of the long table displayed, which protrudes from both the top and
bottom of the sheet. These parts are then completely missing.

I hope this is understandable - thank you very much!

Dear Tobias,

yes, this is what I meant with »example-file«. In this file it worked from the
beginning, and now it also works in mine, since I have also added leftmargin=*,
which I found in the example-file. It evenworks inside a table.

Thanks very much again, I am very confident.

Best wishes

Re: Itemized lists without indenting

2021-10-23 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear Tobias,

thanks! I have installed enumitem, but I do not know if I understand the
(english) example file correctly. First I tried to do, what is written on the
Tips-page you have mentioned, I am not sure, if the English word »Custom inset«
is the same as »Benutzerdefinierte Aufzählung« or »Auflistungsoptionen« which I
find in my German installation. Nonetheless, with both of them it does not
work, when I »pick an Enumerate environment, and immediately after the first
list marker, right click to produce the context menu and«  select one of them.

I am not sure, where exactly I have to change the list options – directly in
the list via ERT or in the preamble? As far as I see the user manual here:
http://dante.ctan.org/CTAN/macros/latex/contrib/enumitem/enumitem.pdf
does also not explain the usage of the package in LyX, or at least I don’t find
it.

Is my problem understandable? The English is confusing for me, when I want to
find certain things and could not transplate 100%. Glad if you could give me a
hint!

How to modify text alignment

2021-09-07 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

in Komascript report, block text is specified as the default for the text
alignment. How can I change this for the whole document? (LyX 2.3.6.2 on OSX
10.14.6). If I try it just by edit/paragraph settings only the current
paragraph is adjusted

Thanks again! I have now added:

\AtBeginDocument{%
\defbibheading{mybib}{%
…

in the preamble.

I removed, as I am not sure if this made problems:

\AtBeginDocument{
  \addto\captionsgerman{
    \renewcommand{\contentsname}{Inhalt}
  }
}

I also added

\defbibheading{mybib}{%
   \let\cleardoublepage\relax
…

in the preamble and the parameter
heading=mybib
in the bibliography’s menu.

Again I get a bunch of errors, added in the protocol here.

Thank you, Herbert! Up to now I am not very sure about whre to enter the

latex, biber) on the same page es the last paragraph? I want to have a very
short bibilography one the last page and not to have a break and having those
lines on a separate one.

Dear Andreas,

I am not sure about that. What size of margis did you choose in document
preferences / page margins? Do the margins not fit to the sizes you have
entered? Did you change something in the preamble?

Changing colours of headings…

2021-02-13 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

could someone please help me - even though it may seem ridiculous - to change
the colour of the headings in »Koma Script Report«? I don't want to use the
text styles, as I want to use a different colour for all the headings across
the board, so the text styles don't help.

Also the documentation and at
https://komascript.de
do not help me either.

Could someone please give me a hint?

Thanks in advance, all best

Dear Paul,

thanks! I still had TeXLive-2019 installed. After an update now things work
fine. But nonetheless: waht is tex live-lang-german? In TeX Live Utility I
could see I have TeX Live manual (German) installed. I suppose you mean this?

Hello,

thanks for your quick reply and sorry for not changing the path in the
document. I have now also changed the font now and have updated to 2.3.4.2 on
OSX 10.14.6 – but still get those errors.

I hope it is helpful, what is written in the error-description:
\select@language {german}
The control sequence at the end of the top line
of your error message was never \def'ed. If you have
misspelled it (e.g., `\hobx'), type `I' and the correct
spelling (e.g., `I\hbox'). Otherwise just continue,
and I'll forget about whatever was undefined.

This line also does not work for me.

Do you maybe have a hint how to investigate here? For me such things still are
not easy.

Is this what you mean by replying inline? I am going to do that in the future,
even though for me top-posting is easier to overlook.

Dear Anders,

thank you so much! I have now found a possibility to use ePub. It is still not
perfect and up to now is not useful for publishing etc., but for private use it
is fine. The following seems to work for me:

export–LyXhtml (here LyX is not getting a SIGSEV)
then I convert the XHTML-file in Calibre to ePub

Calibre is really extremely useful… I think I will try a little bit around with
LyX and Calibre in the next time, but for the moment this works for me.

Re: Exporting ePub / XML: always SIGSEV

2019-04-25 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear Stephan,

this is strange, I now could not reproduce the SIGSEV anymore, which I have
always got over the last months. I could also not find out, what I might have
changed. The only thing is that I removed the TeX 2017-version meanwhile, but I
used 2018 anyhow. This is why I do not think, that this might affect this, but
it is the only thing I really changed. I have tried it with different documents.

But still it is not possible to build an XML etc. If I try to do this via
export as
I still get those messages for any format:
»Keine Informationen vorhanden, um das Format OpenDocument (Pandoc) zu
exportieren.«
»Keine Informationen vorhanden, um das Format HTML (MS Word) zu exportieren.«
»Keine Informationen vorhanden, um das Format HTML (MS Word) zu exportieren.«
So: there is no information to export to format X, but at least i do not get
the SIGSEV anymore.

If I get the SIGSEV again later, I will send you the stack trace then.

Best
Jess

Re: Exporting ePub / XML: always SIGSEV

2019-04-25 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello Anders,

thanks a lot! This sounds good, but I do normally only use LyX and run into new
problems. First I tried several possibilities to export to TeX is with also
with »weitere Formate und Optionen« (more formats and options) – here it
worked. In all other cases (file – export – LaTeX (plain) or export – export as
– LaTeX (normal) or export – export as – LaTeX (XeTeX)) I have got a
SIGSEV-signal again.

Well, then I opened the TeX-file in TeXShop (I dont have TeX Studio). In the
prefs there is no build, and I did not know ho to continue from here.
 Then I just tried:

export – XML text

This produced an XML-file. I do not know if the file would work, because I do
not know how to continue from here. Did Could I also use calibre for converting
from XML to ePub?

Thanks, best
Jess

Exporting ePub / XML: always SIGSEV

2019-04-25 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I try to export ePubs for a while now and it never worked in different
configurations. LyX was always freezing. In the moment I use OS 10.14.3, Intel
and LyX 2.3.2 with TeXLive 2018.

When I do the following:
+ file – export as – DocBook (XML) and then try to save I get the follwing
error:
»Keine Informationen vorhanden, um das Format DocBook (XML) zu exportieren.«
In English this means something like »There is no information to export the
format DocBook (XML).
+ Now I click »cancel« and get a SIGSEV-signal, like every time.

Does anybody have a hint what I could do? Would be very good to use XML, maybe
there is a workaround.

Thanks, all best
Jess

BibDesk / Biblatex

2019-02-19 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I have a question regarding BibDesk / BibTeX and hope that someone here could
help. I use BibDesk with Unicode / UTF-8 and Biblatex / biber in LyX. So far
things work fine, but sometimes I have some trouble to use special signs. No
problem is e.g. the swung dash. For that I enter characters like this:
> Espa\~na
in BibDesk.

But I still have found no suction for accents, I still do not know e.g. how to
enter
> símbolos

I have also looked on this site:
https://www.namsu.de/Extra/strukturen/Sonderzeichen2.html
but did not find a proper solution.

Thanks for any hint or help

Italics for titles in references

2019-01-09 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I use OSX 10.13.6, LyX 2.3.2 and KomaScript report and would like to use
italics in the references (footnotes and bibliography). Could somebody please
tell me a proper way how to achieve this?

I need this for the format »chapter«, the title and book title in
»incollection«, the title in »inbook« and citetitle. I hope it is clear, what I
mean, otherwise I would try to describe otherwise.

Thanks for your help

Re: Statistics in LyX

2018-12-12 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear Daniel,

thanks for your comments and agreeing with the benefit of such a function. I
was not sure, if maybe there is a solution to fulfill this with the recent
version of LyX somehow. Thank you also for making clear, that there is not
another possibility at present.

For some time I have used Scrivener, which has an extreme good
statistics-function, which is also able to set targets (session, word or
character) and to also select the whole text or just sections out of it. This
was so comfortable, that the procedure you described (keeping track of the
differences manually, also section wise, by checking before and after) seems so
ineffective, that I normally resign. But well: will have to be disciplined and
write an enhancement request, good idea!

All best
Jess

Statistics in LyX

2018-12-11 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

is there any possibility  to keep the window of tools/statistics opened while
working in LyX (I use 2.3.1.-1 on OSX10.13.6)? This woulöd be so comfortable.
Even better would be a possibility to document the daily progress. There is no
such function, or am I wrong?

split view with two different documents / how to open easily

2018-12-08 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear list, hello,

I wonder if there ist a possibility, that LyX opens two documents more easily
than the following procedure, I do at least daily to get a split view (divide
view in left and right) with two different documents. I use OSX10.13.6 and LyX
2.3.1-1.

• open LyX
• one of the two lastly used documents is opened
• I choose view/divide view into left and right (sorry, might only be analogous
as I use LyX in German)
• I open the second document, which opens in a separate window
• I click into the divided document and open the second document again

Now I have the desired split view with two different documents, while the
second one also stays opened in the background.

Thanks for help
Jess

Re: Biblatex in LyX 2.3 and newer

2018-11-10 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear Daniel,

yes, I thought that the problems I have are a biblatex-problem, because it
happened when I installed LyX 2.3. The other packages I now deactivated were
working fine before, so I am still not sure, what exactly the problem might be
– all of those error messages seemed to have startet at the same point. I will
try some things and most probably make another minimal-example.

Thanks also for your minimal-example, this is obvious.

Re: Biblatex in LyX 2.3 and newer

2018-11-09 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear Daniel,

thank you for trying my file out. Okay, the file is not minimal enough, so I
removed the list of figures and also the footnote with the missing reference.
There is no reason, why I once added the page numbers as part of the citation,
once not. That might be the result of trying out how to get a decent distance
between »S.« and the number.

I now also erased some of the lines in the preamble that do not correspond to
biblatex. It was obvious, that most of the errors were caused by the line:
\DeclareFieldFormat{title}{\mkbibemph{#1}}
which I have added italic fonts in titles. Is there also another achieve that?

Also the lines:
\urlstyle{%}
\usepackage{%}
\begin{%}
caused some errors – do I really have to remove all of them? Is there is one
obvious reason for this?

And also, why do I have to remove the
pageref=true
option from biblatex?

I add a minimal example this time which I think is really minimal, in a working
form. I left the mentioned lines in the preamble, deactivated.

Thank you, best,
Jess

Re: Fwd: How to suppress branches in the index

Yes, thanks for asking, that's what I'm talking about – about the outline. As I
use it for an overview of my outlines, those entries, which are even inactive
inside of inactive branches, are somehow disturbing for me. As soon as I remove
the branch they are not shown any longer, only if they are inside of an
inactive branch. This makes no sense for me.

Well, if there really is no way I would have to use a seperate outlining-app.

How to get rid of indentation in footnote

2018-04-03 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

could somebody please help: how could I get rid of the indentation of footnotes
in the first line of the footer? I want every footnote to begin at the margin
without indentation. I use KOMA-script-report in LyX 2.3.0. Please let me know
if you need a screenshot.

Italics in chapter-titles etc.

2017-10-21 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I have a LuaTeX-problem for a while now, or at least my problem might have to
do with it. In the moment words in the titles (of chapters etc.) are not
italicized, even though in my preamble I still use the command:
\DeclareFieldFormat{citetitle}{\mkbibemph{#1}}

I use LyX 2.2.3 on OS 10.13 and use LuaTeX (and KOMA-script article). Why do
the emphasized word not appear italicized?

Thanks

Shortcuts for fonts / OSX

2017-09-13 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I could not find out, how the shortcuts in LyX 2.2.3 for the fonts on OSX
10.12.5 are working. For example, the shortcut for »font-roman« is ^Z R. I am
not sure, whether the first sign stands for the control-key, but nonetheless I
have tried many possibilities, which all did not work, also for the »Z« and the
»R«. Does this mean I should first enter shift+z and then shift+r? In this case
it would not work.

Sorry if this is obvious…

Re: Document class for a lecture manuscript

2017-09-09 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear Rich, dear all,

meanwhile I startet trying to use the KOMA-script article class. For me it is
not that easy to search for the proper places in the documentation because it
exists only in English and is very long. I would like to really get into it
when I have really time for it.

Still, I now try to adapt the mentioned class to my wishes. I was not yet able
to achieve the following:

• I would like to have smaller font sizes for the chapters and sections
• have a separate colum for time-entries (I could use margins if needs be)
• I would prefer to have the page number at the top right
• I would like to change the distances between the paragraphs (e.g. 20 pt)

I hope, this makes things a little easier to reproduce. Maybe somebody could
help in one or another case, but I will keep trying to find the right spots in
the documentation also.

Koma-script-article and size of continuous text

2017-09-09 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

in LyX 2.2.3 (I use LuaTeX, but could also change that if necessary) I would
like to use a bigger font-size of 14 pt for a draft in a KOMA-script-article.
This could not be chosen in document/settings/fonts, because there only sizes
from 12–12 pt are eligible in the menu (in German it is »Grundgröße«, while in
English it might be s.th. like »basic size«).

How could I achieve a bigger size for the continuous text nonetheless?

Thank you

Skim as PDF-file-viewer on Mac

2017-06-25 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I would like to use Skim on Mac (10.12.5) as a PDF-file-viewer for
LuaTeX-Output, but it does not work for me.

• In Lyx LyX Version 2.2.3 I have entered the following:

Prefs / Output / General / PDF-Command:
/Applications/Skim.app/Skim.app/Contents/SharedSupport/displayline $$n $$o $$t

Prefs / File Handling / File formats / PDF (LuaTeX)
Viewer setting / Custom / open -a Skim.app $$i i

• In Skim1.4.24 (98) I have entered

Prefs / Sync / Command:
/Applications/LyX.app/Contents/MacOS/lyxeditor
Arguments:
"%file" %line; /usr/bin/osascript -e 'tell application "LyX" to activate‘
(before I have also tried with »output« / LyX, which also did not work)

Does anybody have an idea how I get it working?

Thanks

Yes, use \nocite* (or in the citation dialog: "Add to bibliography

It would not mind to have the unmentioned entries in a separate

This can be done with the "Sectioned Bibliography" feature. It is

Re: BibTeX + self-edited bibliography…

2017-03-20 Thread jezZiFeR

Hello Jürgen,

thank you for your message. I did not forget to search the manuals, but
it did not help: I have entered a bibliography-environment
(Literaturverzeichnis-Umgebung in german). The manual says:
»Am Anfang der ersten Zeile eines Absatzes werden Sie ein graues
Kästchen mit einem Wort und einer Zahl in eckigen Klammern sehen.« /
You will see a gray box in the first line of a paragraph with a word and
a number in square brackets.

In my case just the words »Die Literaturverzeichnis-Umgebung« are
entered, nothing could be clicked or edited here. I use
KOMA-Script-Aufsatz, natbib and also a BibDesk-generated bib-file for
the bibliography.

Maybe this is why I do not understand where to find the citation
dialogue mentioned. Would that be tha place, in the
bibliography-environment? I am also not sure where to enter the command.
The »Sectioned Bibliographies« feature is very useful, thank you.

Two more questions regarding bibliographies…

Sorry, I have two more question regarding bibliographies:

1)

author are mentioned underneath. Right now I have the German word »ebda.«,
which means ibidem, in the footnote.

In the bibliography I would also like to haven an emdash, or at least not
»Ders.«, what I have now. this is the word for male authors, but the author
is not male.
I add two small screenshots.

2)
In the bibliography I have a dot at the end of each entry. How could I
remove that?

I use the recent versions of LyX, BibDesk and Biblatex-citation styles
(biblatex-dw) on OS X.

Migration of LyX, TeX and extensions on OS X

2016-01-02 Thread jezZiFeR
Happy 2016 & hello to you,

I have a question regarding the migration of Lyx and all parts of the TeX
distribution from OS X 10.10.3 to OS X 10.11.2:

I have already installed TeXLive-2015 and the current version of LyX on the new
computer, but there are still some extensions missing. Could somebody pls tell
me which folders I have to copy? I know, that I have something (I think the
bibtex-stuff) in the user-folder usr/texlive. Is there something like an
overview where things are installed, so that extensions could just be copied?
Would the place of the folders still be the same under 10.11.2?

I hope it is understandable what I mean and that somebody could help.

Thanks, all best

Re: No indentation of first paragraphs

2015-08-13 Thread jezZiFeR
Thank you – I now understood, what you meant by »using sections for creating
headers«, which indeed I do. I only did not do this in this short minimal
example, which was way too short to see that in my large file the following
examples with the headers use the behavior I want.

In fact my first line »Texttexttext«-line *is* indented:

It is just in the case of an empty line before a new paragraph where the
paragraph settings have to be changed, if an indentation is not wanted. This is
fine, because it just happens a few times in the document.

Re: Biblatex not not found by LyX work on new computer / OS 10.10.3

2015-07-28 Thread jezZiFeR
Thank you.

I now removed the .txt-ending, so that I just have .module as ending. I
reconfigured, but still, LyX does not find biblatex.module. Could I use
Biblatex-citation-styles instead? When I try I get another error-message:
bibliographystyle invalid.

How could I get biblatex working? Are there any additional test I could do to
find out what ist wrong?

Just in case I add a minimal-file and would be very thankful if anybody could
help.

Thanks
Jess

Should be fine. I am not a Mac user, though,

No. It should be named biblatex.module (*.module is the file suffix).

This is the TeX directory. Definitely not the correct place for LyX modules.

Biblatex not not found by LyX work on new computer / OS 10.10.3

2015-07-20 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I have problems using biblatex an my new computer for weeks now, and could not
find the problem.

I run LyX 2.1.3 on OS 10.10.3. I installed the current bib latex.module, but it
could not be found by LyX. Could you please tell me, where the biblatex.module
has to be placed? LyX/about LyX tells me to put it into:
library/application support/LyX-2.1/

It is not placed exactly there, but has an own folder at that place: /layouts.
I hope this is fine. It has a .txt-ending, is that correct?
(biblatex.module.txt)

BTW: On my old system (OSX10.8) it was placed in
/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/
but in OS 10.10.3 it seems to have a new place.

Thank you!

Re: biblatex.module and biber not available

2015-07-02 Thread jezZiFeR
Thanks, Kornel,

it is strange, that MacTeX says, that biblatex is installed, and biber also.
Both are not available. I reinstalled both now, via teX Live Utility but it did
not change anything. I do not really understand where to add the file you
mention, because in my usr no layouts-directory exists (OSX10.10.3).

I also checked my old system, there the biblatex.module ist not selected, but
biber. Here it does not even appear, so it is not only biblatex.module, but
also Biber I could not use. I would prefer Biber, because I have used it in the
last year and it worked well. Why does the Biber-module not appear in my
document preferences?

Thanks
Jess

I also used MacTeX. I use biblatex, because I use Dominik Wassenhovens Styles.
On my last setup this went very well with fiber, which I could not find in the

I have installed TeX and LyX on my new Laptop (OSX10.10) and now LyX could not

Usability / index-window

2015-04-17 Thread jezZiFeR
Dear list-members,

I do not know where to send my wishes regarding the usability of LyX. Could
anybody help, please? Or maybe there are some work-arounds which I don't know?

/
I have some proposals regarding the usability. At least for me and my personal
use some things could be more comfortable, and I stumble across it again and
again:

+ I would find it very useful to be able to switch the cursor from the
index-window to the text-documents directly. I mean by this, that when I for
example find for a certain place in the document via the index, and then start
typing, the text is inserted in the filter-field of the index. Is there any
easy way to get back to the document? I always have to click into it several
times, until the cursor really gets there. And no, this is not my mouse… :]

+ Sometimes I also think it would be more comfortable to have the possibility
to have the index-window in a different frame, but in the same window as the
text. Then it would not be necessary to resize the items again and again.
Especially when I want to enlarge the index-window I could do this over the
document, but could not resize that then. I always have to think of making the
document-window smaller first. Particularly in fullscreen-mode the window of
the index is always in the way.

Re: Title of referenced URLs

2015-02-09 Thread jezZiFeR

Dear Ben,

thanks a lot, and it does not matter taking time, I am not in a rush.
Thanks a lot for your examples. I see that you used the same line in the
preamble and this worked the way I wanted to, because I wanted the
URL-date to be displayed.
After trying some things out with BibDesk and LyX I saw, that there was
one url-reference in my document, which was working correctly, the
URL-date was shown. I compared the entries in BibTeX and also in LyX and
then figured out, that it seems to be crucial to use a citation style in
LyX, which shows a year’s date.

By this I mean: In my case the url-date was not shown, when I did not
enter a citation-style LyX’s format-section, which does not display a
year – either in brackets or with a comma. Even if there is no entry of
a year’s date in BibTeX, it is important to choose such a style. Lyx in
this case shows two question marks in the gray field of the reference,
but nonetheless shows the URL-date in the document.

I hope that it is understandable what I mean. Thank you for your help,
it was good to know, that in your case things worked as I wanted them to.

Best
Jess

Sorry for getting back to you so late.

I tried this as the call to bibtex:

\usepackage[natbib=true,style=footnote-dw,urldate=long,abbreviate=true,pageref=true,idemtracker=false,backend=biber]{biblatex}

with a document I know would work with it. I get references that look
like this:

For example see Jens Abildtrup et al.: Spatial preference
heterogeneity in forest recreation, in: Ecological Economics 92.C
(2013), 67–77, URL: http:

//EconPapers.repec.org/RePEc:eee:ecolec:v:92:y:2013:i:c:p:67-
<http://EconPapers.repec.org/RePEc:eee:ecolec:v:92:y:2013:i:c:p:67-> 77,

within the next and like this in the references section:

Hanemann,W. Michael: Valuing the environment through contingent
valuation, English, in: The Journal of Economic Perspectives

8.4 (1994), 19–43, URL: http://www.jstor.org/stable/2138337.

The output might look different. I see the URL, the title of the
paper, and all other relevant information. What is it exactly you are
looking for?

Thanks,

~Ben

Hello,

I have a question regarding citing-formats for URLs. In the moment I
don´t get figured out, how the title of my reference could be
displayed. In BisDesk I tried out the different BibText-types (URL,

URL-date. I use the recent version of BibDesk, LyX and have installed

Is it normal, that the title of electronic sources is not shown?

Thank you

I do not find this in Germen (»Angewählt«) – where would I have to look?
Thank you!

Dear Stephan,

I have made a minimal example and add it here. The message appears already when
opening the file.

Thank you

LyX wants to install X11…

2014-05-27 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I do not know since when this happens, but in the moment LyX always tells me,
that I would have to install X11 to open »gs«. Why does it ask that?
I use LyX 2.0.7.1 on OSX 10.8.5. It might be, that this only happens when I
open older documents, I am not sure up to now. Does anybody have an idea about
that?

Best
Jezz

Shared view / split windows

2014-04-26 Thread jezZiFeR
Hello,

I have a question regarding a function, which in the german LyX-version 2.0.7.1
is called »Ansicht teilen«, which means something like »shared view«. One could
split the window horizontally or vertically. I would like to view two different
files, but I don't always get opened the same file in the two windows. Is it
possible to view two different files?

Thank you
Jess
