I use a shared printer off my old g4 Powerbook. I have Printopia installed on
the G4 PB.

On the first tab of your iPod preferences there is a manual sync checkbox just
check that.
Apple always by default has automatic sync turned on. With the manual sync

Yes you can move pdf's with iTunes also. Might be able to use the MobileMe app
to transfer pdf's thru the cloud. I haven't tried doing that yet.
