I had a Mac Mini for years (still do, but the drive is shot). I hooked up a $12 USB keyboard from Wal-Mart, and a monitor we'd had for at least five years from Dell, and it worked just fine. Apple computers don't need apple peripherals, but the Apple stuff tends to last longer and look better.

Hi Christine. It attaches. It does not go into the email. VoiceOver says image, but everybody gets my attachments just fine, and it sends the file. Also, in the Sent folder, it says the name of the file. It works great, and the only thing I wish it differently was to say the name of the file.
