Hi,
That's correct. The keyboard modifier key swapping is user specific, so will
not be applied until after login. As you've noticed the cmd and Option keys
would therefore be swapped prior to login.

Thanks Anders. You asked a good question. Its a Logitech K800. I had
in fact swapped the option and command keys. This works as expected in
both macOS and the Windows VM.
But I tested and did a cold boot and used the control and command
keys as the VO keys. Interesting, that did work.
Hi!
What keyboard is it?
Can it be that the command key and maybe the option key is swapped but from
what i understand from your mail they’re not.

execute the usual keyboard commands and once logged in, VO speech is on.

When I turn my mac on, voiceover does not come up, I have to hit command f5.
Any way to have it so it comes on during the login screen?

Okay, this is a problem I've been having for a while, but it's so weird and
difficult to describe I've avoided posting on here about it. But it's really
annoying me now and I want to get to the bottom of it. I haven't yet contacted

First, try erasing both apps, if you have not already done so. I'm wondering
if, somehow or other, the label for the field changed when you were logged out
of the apps due to inactivity, so vo is now grabbing the only label (or maybe
first label, or label of the element in the same position),
Thanks, Alex, for your help.
I just tried deleting the apps. Problem still the same.
I'm a little reluctant to reset the settings. Don't really like the thought of
having to set everything up again. Would this include Mail, Contacts and
Calendars? If it didn't fix the problem, would I be able
Wait! Not so fast here.
Some tips that will make reseting much less of a pain.
1. First, back everything you can from your Iphone in to Icloud. Do this off
the main settings window.
2. Now, reset your phone. During the reset process, you will be offered the
option of setting your phone
Yes, but the settings that are cuasing the problem will get resored right along
with everything else. Resetting settings is not something I've done before, so
I don't know if it wipes out mail, calendars, and the rest. Still, calendars,
contacts, reminders, and all that (once set to iCloud)
Yes, the settings you've saved in the cloud will in fact restore to your phone

new phone or under your name.

Right, that's my concern. If the problem is somewhere in the settings, then it
will be restored, so the whole process just puts the problem right back as
though it never left.

Yes, exactly. I already have reset and restored and the problem was restored
along with the settings. Alex's suggestion of resetting the settings and not
restoring might solve the problem. My concern is if it doesn't for some reason
solve the problem I will want all my settings back lol. I
Well, the other side of that is that if one doesn't try, how will one know?

Sure, you can just acativate Voice Over via ITunes if you must: but, don't
need to. When you reset your phone, just quickly tap the home button three
times the instant you feel it vibrate. But, of course, you knew that didn't
you?
Just checking.

Ray,
We were talking about simply resetting the iPHone's settings, not all the data.
When you just reset the settings you don't go through that set up process
again. In fact, now I think of it I'm not even sure you lose VoiceOver when
doing this. I'm pretty sure I've done it before for someone
