I was noting that the trailer looks a bit cobbled together with the original
rounded Scamp body having grown a baby bulb that would be the sleeping spot.
Really putting a bunch of downward thrust on the hitch. Maybe it was meant for
a taller clearance truck?

Looks interesting and cool.

Re: [MBZ] 240D 4-speed

2021-05-10 Thread Clay via Mercedes
Welcome back John.

Could be bushings, but hard to say. I locked up a manny trying to install
fresh bushings. Should have been more careful about not letting the
transmission end arms move. With wiggly play in the rods, sometimes two gears
can become engaged. I had to secure a fresh working trans to swap in. Never
did get the locked up one torn down and rebuilt.

Sure you can! Contact all manner of eco friendly municipalities or property
owners and haul the kids on over. SEA loves to contract for goat removal of
offending herbaceous matter. The bus arrives, the area is fenced off and for
the next few days goat poop is produced. Then the kids get back on the bus and
head off to greener pastures. Maybe the things could be used to clear homeless
encampments. Eat the greens and some trash, ship some hogs in to take care of
the really nasty stuff… like campers

when I first got it. Replacing all the bushings and following the

I was heading home from the grocery today after work and managed to miss a big
black pickup flying down the road a couple hundred feet from home and got hit
on the right front of the Golf.

Ripped the bumper off, tore off the frame stub, and so forth. Can't imagine
it's not totalled, and I was hoping to keep this one til I retire in a couple
years.

Bad intersection, usually a crash every couple weeks there, and the county
commissioners absolutely refuse to put up a four way stop. Intersection is
angled just enough the door post completely blocks vision, I've had close calls
there for years and always look several times.

Grinds my grits.

Fortunately all the damage to the big hopped up truck appears to be a tire and
rim, nothing else touched the car.

What a Monday, and since I had a migraine this morning I almost stayed home

The only good news is that I found two replacements on Facebook at first look,
another silver 2004 Golf with 180K and a Jetta with 316k, although that might
not be such a good deal.

I'm driving the limping 88 TE instead, should have spent some time this winter

HI John,
Most likely the bushings on each end of the shift rods (there are three of
them, so 6 bushings) are probably gone. This causes the levers on the

bushing in the shifter itself that can contribute to the problem. Best

Made by Diamond, which also makes Taste of The Wild.
IIRC Chewy's American Journey has the same pellet style and probably
comes from the same factory.
Looking at the ingredients, I bet the Kirkland costs 10-20% less than
TOTW.

My GSP likes Turkey and Beef Kirkland grain free just fine. Not as happy
with the fish, which just happens to be the more expensive of the three.
But she likes TOTW and AJ salmon flavors, those are some of her
favorites.

She liked the American Journey grain free, liked the limited ingredient
grain free a bit less, and didn't like their super premium stuff at all.

The only thing I had to give away because she wouldn't eat it:
TOTW venison. I think it was called Pine Forest or something like that.
Gave it to the neighbor's fussy Boxer and he loved it. So it wasn't
entirely $50 down the drain, got some neighborly good will out of it.

But she liked the other TOTW flavors I used to buy for her.

[MBZ] 240D 4-speed

I have a ’83 240D 4-speed manual, 300+++ miles.  The shifter is loose and
occasionally feels completely disconnected and will not go into any gear. It
also locked up in neutral and would not move in any direction. In between
these episodes it works normally. What is going on?

[MBZ] 240D Shifter

2021-05-10 Thread John Ingram via Mercedes
Hello list,
I have a ’83 240D with a 4 speed manual. The car has about 330K miles. I was
driving today and when shifting into 2nd gear the shifter got stuck in neutral
position and would not move in any direction, I pulled and pushed the lever and
it freed up and I continued on everything working fine. I headed home and on a
hill had to downshift into first and the shifter suddenly felt like it was not
connected to anything. The car was still in 3rd gear but I couldn’t start out
in 3rd and it stalled. I started the engine and the shifter and transmission
worked normally the rest of the way home. The problem is intermittent, from
normal to stuck to normal to disconnected to normal.
Has anyone ever experienced this on a 240D 4-speed? Any ideas as to what it
could be?

Thank you

[MBZ] OT Chewy is a great company, fedexsux

2021-05-10 Thread Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes
FedExSux f’d up my Chewy delivery last week, said it was left in front of my
garage (which makes no sense, so the driver either stole it or someone else got
2 big bags of food), nowhere to be found. Called them, totally useless. Called
Chewy They were going to see if they could light a fire under fedexsux;alas, no
product after 2 more days

Called Chewy a second time yesterday they shipped out another order, fedex said
it was on it’s way this morning, just got a message saying they couldn’t find
my house. Of course this is probably the 20th (and 21st) order that the
previous 19 had been successfully delivered with no issues.

Called Chewy again (and you always get a very nice human on about the third
ring) who was once again going to try to sort it out AND issued a $25 refund on
my order to cover buying a bag of poodle food.

Chewy is a great company to deal with, fedexsux needs Wilson and Tom Hanks to
help get stuff delivered.

Re: [MBZ] Price Of Fuel

2021-05-10 Thread Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes
You want some real thorns? New Zealand has gorse fields that are literally
impenetrable.

"Its introduction resulted in large spreading infestations over hundreds of
hectares, peaking in the late 1940s. It was recognised as a threat as early
as 1861 where the Provincial Council in Nelson passing an act to prevent
the planting of gorse hedges. The seed can lie dormant on the ground for up
to 50 years, germinating quickly after the adults have been removed.
Unfortunately, most methods of removing adult gorse plants, such as burning
or bulldozing them, create the ideal conditions for the gorse seeds to
germinate and total eradication with current technology seems impossible.
Gorse is now one of the most widely recognised agricultural weeds in New
Zealand. It covers 700,000 hectares (1,700,000 acres) at varying densities
— a total of 5% of the land area of New Zealand when excluding existing
indigenous forest, vegetated sub-alpine and alpine areas.Gorse became New
Zealand's most costly weed to control, an estimated $22 million per annum
by the early 1980s."

Re: [MBZ] Price Of Fuel

2021-05-10 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
Using Baltimore as a benchmark it's nearly 800 miles from the great northern
estate in Caribou.
We've got some pretty great thorns up north too. Last fall I shot a partridge
in a hedgerow and then realized that I couldn't get to it. I don't know what
the bushes are but they've got 1" long thorns that are just vicious. I ended up
crawling 50 feet on my belly each way to retrieve the bird.
Now I'm debating, on the one hand, the bush hog will make short work of those
thorns. On the other, if the birds like the thorn bush maybe I should keep it...

goats will love our first in class thorn bushes.

Then I got this to plug in the 7-blade connector
