The electric starter was only good for RE-starts. If the leak is a shaft or lip type seal in the system, it’s not going to work. This stuff only works for static leaks, like pinholes or porous hoses. Not long after I sealed my system, the shaft seal on the compressor started leaking, no doubt due to age and it being the next weakest point in a system that was now holding full working pressure. I replaced the compressor with a new Nippondenso compressor, pulled the system down and let it sit for 3-4 hours to make sure it wasn’t leaking anywhere else, and all has been well ever since. They have some specs as far as how big a leak it will seal, which they establish by specifying a minimum time the system has to hold a vacuum. I think it was 30 minutes, but it could have been more or less. I would encourage you to email or call them if you have questions. I called and spoke directly to one of their engineers who was very helpful and answered all of my questions and gave me some direction on the process as well. My truck AC probably has bad seals from sitting unused for some time before I retrieved it. It was OK for a few years then just started leaking down, got to where it was leaking down within a day of a charge. I don't know if it is the compressor or fittings or what, and don't want to try that dye as I think it buggered the compressor in the 300SD that had been converted to 134, and was starting to leak down too -- I never saw any dye come out of it so not sure where the leak was. I am wondering if I should try this stuff, maybe give the dye a try, or just take it to a shop and let them sort it out, or get a set of rings and try to replace them all, or what. My 2000 Suburban is starting to leak down now too, 220kmi, the compressor (bearings probably) has been whining for a few years now so I wonder if the seals are going bad in it along with the bearings. Not sure I want to put a lot into it, so kinda the same dilemma. One of my biggest problems in school, college, and many Air Force schools was "picking the subject" for a speech, research paper, book report, etc. Many times I'd have several days, coupla weeks or a month, maybe, to get an assignment done and couldn't/wouldn't decide on a subject until a day or two before the due date (a few times the day or even the night before), but I never received less than an "A" on any of 'em. Just imagine how much more fun it all coulda been if I had not procrastinated so. My procrastination, though, has led (indirectly - strongly contributed, anyway) to the outstanding academic accomplishments of my three grandchildren thus far. When each of 'em was in about second or third grade, I had serious talks with 'em about the importance of getting homework and other assignments done early. Keep up with homework every day, day-by-day, and you'll never have to worry about being ready for the next day - you'll always be ready. You'll never worry about the teacher calling on you in class - you'll always be ready. Take care of today the best you can, and you'll always be ready for tomorrow. I picked up #1 grandson at school one afternoon when he was in third grade. As he settled into his seat, he turned to me and said, "Granddaddy, I'm worried." I asked, "What are you worried about?" He replied, "College is scary." I replied reassuringly, "You don't need to worry about college. You take care of today, every day, day-by-day, and when the end of this school year comes, you'll be ready for fourth grade; continue to take care of every day, day-by-day, and you'll be always ready for the next day, the next grade, the next year; by the time you graduate from high school, you'll be ready for college and whatever comes next - you'll never have to worry about it." He graduated summa cum laude (high honors) from UNC-CH coupla years ago; finished masters program at Institute d'Etude Politique de Paris coupla months ago; working for "think tank" in Paris right now. Is this procrastination or just avoidance? The cable between the release handle and pedal on the emergency brake on my W220 is either broken or disconnected. It's a fairly simple fix, but it entails probably 30-45 minutes on my back, stuffed under the driver's side dashboard. Every time I get ready to work on the car for something else I think about tackling it, but I usually talk myself out of it. As retentive as I am about my cars and their condition, it's such an uncomfortable job to do I just choose not to do it (avoidance) which I would consider not procrastinating. I get it... My Honda CB900 needs a sprag clutch for the starter. Its "for sale" but I haven't advertised it much since its not running. Once the starter is fixed it'll just be a matter of farting around with it until it starts, its a cold blooded bitch in the best of times now that I haven't run it for 3 years it'll really fight.
