So my buddy who had the broken subframe on the 450SL got that fixed, no
problem, under the recall. Cost him like $250 for some other random
stuff they did. He says the car was making bad clunks up front, took it
back to the dlr who diagnosed a broken front shock, $495 to replace the

This doesn't give me much comfort, A blown head gasket in a diesel can take
weeks or even months to diagnose in the early stages..
