Gump is a 220D, right? We can't seem to break out of the 22 - 24 mpg range
with out '79 240D. The driving isn't highway, more like secondary 2 lane
roads with a 45 - 55 mph range for the limit.
What do you get when you drive it around town?

Our 240D has inoperable A/C (manual controls though). We did a quick check
by starting the car and turning the A/C dial to high. Compressor didn't
even attempt to kick in. Aux fan didn't start running either, but it does
spin easily.
Can someone give me a quick list of things to check to get
87's? Or are we talking W123's?

Yea, it would have been worth 5-600, its WAY too much right now
considering a guy has 2 of them he wants me to buy, $2500 for one and
$3500 for the other. Both run and drive fine, one has a new head

I need part numbers for some obscure items on my 1987 300TD:

of bubbling beneath the paint at the back of each wheel well. Paint is
very nice overall, chrome is shiny and not pitted. 4 speed manual
transmission. I

'79 240D I've been looking at is a spare tire. There wasn't one in the
trunk. This car has the wheels with the painted hubcaps (so cool looking)
which I assume means steel wheels? I have a bundt cake wheel from my RIP

Any chance the wheel bolts from my W124 alloys would work?

Yes.
does the W123 have the same issue with different length wheel
bolts like the W124's do?
Yes.
Gerry,
I'm right along that route if you want a place to stop for a bite to eat
or whatever. (Depending on your timing.) I'm 25 minutes north of
Pittsburgh and 10 minutes from I-79 on your way up to Erie and points
north.
