That and a bigger snowmobile trailer might be a good fit for my needs for
relatively little money.

I have a picture of one (911 with a small block), but not sure I can post
here. A friend is thinking about a small block in his 928, but I think a
lot easier to just rebuild what the car came with.

I had a 350 with TBI in my 87 4x4 Blazer with 4spd 700R4, it was OK,
kinda agricultural but solid and you can get parts at the 7-11. When
that started burning oil I had an old guy (in his 80s now, complaining
but still doing engine work, built AJFoyt's first race engine back when)
build me up
It has MAP and O2 sensors, I twiddled a bit with the MAP but I think you
are correct that it is a vac problem. The computer data showed
everybody happy though, even the O2 was saying it was in normal bounds
which I thought a bit odd. Truman did have some guy who did FI work

The old small block was a workhorse, but the newer balanced engines were for
superior for fuel

Your fuel map will be way off (too much fuel) if your cam makes less
vacuum, and way off (too little fuel) if your heads flow a lot better.

Hey Ed, agree completely --
We had a 78 Malibu with the 305 engine and that engine was flawless. The
car went thru transmissions like they were MMs but the engine was perfect.
Often I wish I'd been able to keep the engine when we donated the car to the
Kidney Fdn - w/bad tranny of course.

I still own a 1977 Vette with a 350. The oil capacity is 4 quarts with a
filter change.

Larry, I had the very same though at the time I parted with mine, would make
a perfect donor engine for a kit or project car. Our shared thoughts and
interests are getting to be a little scary! lol. On the count of three,

Alex, I'm not up on the latest offering from GM, but I'm pretty sure much of
the old V8 still lives on in models available today. As with all engines,
things are refined over the years, giving better mileage and emissions.
Some of the current V8s give great fuel mileage given the performance.
Car manufacturers have used sealants in new car cooling systems for
years.

As far as I know, the 5.7 vortec is the same old 350 with different fuel
injection etc.
