Hello, Been using ipeng and in general works great! Love it. I use tailscale for vpn. Today, while out of the house on cellular wanted to play some music. Ipeng finds the server over the tailscale vpn and I am able to control players that are on the home wifi. However, I do not see my iPhone as one of the available players. I have the license for ipeng local playback and when I am in the house on wifi iPhone is an available option for music playback. bengaldave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4605 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hello All, Recently, iPeng is not displaying the artwork (folder.jpg) for my DSD files properly. What happen is that iPeng will display the same random artwork for all DSD files. (the rest of the files types are displayed correctly). On the iPeng, I have flushed the cache. Then I went into the music server to clear the database and rescan the media files. When I go back to the iPeng, the artwork for DSD files are shown correctly until the next session when the artwork will be messed again. I'm really at a loss of what to do. My current setup: Antipodes CX (server) -> SoTM SMS 200 Ultra (streamer) -> DAC Any kind advice for me please? I had one but very, very few people ever read it and one problem is that everybody's setup is differently and so much functionality is actually not determined by iPeng but by the server. So in many cases there simply would be nothing we could write into the manual about a lot of topics. d6jg wrote: > It will be the player part of iPeng that has the issue I find this very confusing. I've been trying to diagnose it for a while to find out what the actual problem is. Thing is... for me it's not actually iPeng but the server causing issues: Code: -: ERROR while decoding metadata state = FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_END_OF_STREAM /Users/joergbeta/Install/Squeezebox/slimserver/Bin/darwin-x86_64/sox FAIL formats: can't open input `-': WAVE: RIFF header not found That's from the server logs. Also... all of the streams actually play for me for a while until I run into these issues which apparently derail things completely. Whenever I was seeing issues they were happening when playing OGG/FLAC and transcoding to a regular FLAC container. I _suspect_ what's happening here is that iPeng forces the server to transcode. The reason is that iPeng doesn't support OGG right now due to another odd issue that prevents Spotify OGG streams to play (and that I have actually no idea what causes it. The stock ogg/vorbis decoder iPeng uses throws errors and I have no idea why these streams work on other setups). So when playing in iPeng the server needs to transcode the OGG/FLAC streams because iPeng requests FLAC and then the server seems to eventually run into issues with the streams and bails out on them. From that point on I see the player no longer responding. @mherger have you looked into the server logs when you tried this? --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 9, the Universal App for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi, I am resurrecting my wife's old iphone 4S for an LMS controller (LMS on RPi, then various RPis as players with Moode on, all works great) I have installed ipeng Party to see how it works but cant find how to access the Spotty App (or the BBC iplayer or other apps I can do this via my android phones (where I use the material interface on Chrome, but this just shows a blank page on the iphone although its titled LMS) Can someone please help me? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
I originally posted my query here https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?116047-iPeng-and-Playback-on-MacOS%97stream-problem but I suspect I should have asked here. So Im running iPeng on my MacBook Air M1 and using the Playback facility to make it a player. But I have a problem with it crashing when I try to play certain radio streams. (I should add that I can play any and every one of these streams perfectly well using iPeng with Playback on iOS devices, like my iPhone or iPad. Its only when I try Playback on the Mac that I hit the problem.) Ive tried to find common factors among the relevant streams, and quality seems to be one. All my 44.1 kHz streams play perfectly (for example Europa Jazz). The 48 kHz streams do not play (for example D-Dur Classical), nor does a 96 kHz one (Mother Earth). They do not play and they crash iPeng. The behaviour seems to be that when I play one of these higher-rate streams, it will instantly jump to a point a minute or two into the stream, and start counting down as if playing, but with no audio. The controls in iPeng for pause etc are frozen; it's crashed. Really frustrating! The codec does not seem to be a factorsome OGG streams play (for example Juke), some do not (CRo Jazz); some AAC streams play (for example Jazz24), some do not (Classic Jazz Radio). Im connecting the laptop to LMS via wifi, so in iPeng Playbacks player prefs I have bitrate limiting for wifi set to off. A responder at the other thread suggested setting LMSs Streaming Method to Proxied under Player/Settings/Audio, but that made no difference. On the laptop, in Audio MIDI Setup I have my headphone output set to 96kHz 2ch 32-bit Float, which is the highest possible. Ive tried it at the other options, 44.1, 48, and 88.2, and that seems to make no difference. I really want to use iPeng like this on my laptop with headphones for my radio streams, which I have collected as Favourites sourced from the excellent Radio Now Playing app. Any ideas whats going on here? whitman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9053 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi @pippin ! I see you haven't posted here is more than 2 months - I hope you are doing well. Enjoying iPeng tremendously and I saw someone mentioned controlling it with "hey Siri". I have that working if iPeng is "active"...but if I do the "hey Siri play music" command, iPeng doesn't show up on the list of players. I also can't get Siri to respond to "Make (music streaming app) my default music player" for iPeng. Is this something you are aware of? Is there a workaround? centerisl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=62445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Using iPeng on iOS 15, I don't have lock screen controls. Unlike every other audio app I use, the lock screen is usually blank when I am playing something to a Squeezebox device from iPeng using my iPhone/iPad. I think I get them briefly after interacting with iPeng, but they don't last long. This didn't start with iOS 15 - I don't remember ever consistently having lock screen controls for iPeng. Just thought I would ask about it today :) Is this a known issue or is there a known fix? It's an iphone xr In fact, after another reboot (the first since the IOS 15 upgrade I think) it now looks much more like @ftlight's screenshot, and it works fine again. I was, however, totally stuck on that screen and couldn't get away from it (within iPeng) no matter where I clicked / swiped etc.,) I'm glad it was temporary; perhaps it was just a glitch as part of the upgrade or something. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
36429 Perhaps I'm missing something but since the recent upgrade to IOS15 I seem to be stuck on the MultiPlayer Control screen in iPeng. I'm pretty sure I used to go to this screen to switch between the devices (/ groups) I want to control, and then go back to selecting what I actually want to play by swiping upwards from the bottom - I can see the "up arrow" at the bottom of the screen below the name of the selected device (red arrow in screenshot). However, in IOS15 there's now a bar across the bottom middle of the screen which is part of the IOS UI, and swiping upwards there exits the app (or at least switches away from it). I am therefore unable to get away from the MultiPlayer Control screen and can't actually control any of the players. These days, bitrates usually are no longer an issue but > transcoding on the server side could be. I did try both buffer sizes and and no bitrate limiting. Since others are able to use the iPeng player successfully over VPN, it is something peculiar to my setup. Since the problem is more in a moving car, it has something to do with connectivity. Since I have no difficulty streaming smoothly to other applications and the problem is exaggerated if a co traveler attempts a search, it suggests that iPeng player is more dependent on a consistently good two way connection and a responsive server. Your explanation that iPeng is controlled by the server then leads me to the conclusion that I need to improve the performance of LMS at home. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
iPeng player on an iPhone 12 stutters a lot or sometimes suddenly kills playback with a loud sound in a moving car while fully connected to a 5G or LTE network. I connect through a self hosted split tunnel OpenVPN connection. It seems to work fine even over a weak connection in one spot. Bitrate limiting settings don't make any difference, FLACs and 128 bit mp3s both stutter. Playback buffer is large (default). I have no problems streaming other files over the same VPN connection - iSub streams audio flawlessly from a subsonic server, VLC player plays back video files without issue. I have tried LMS hosted over both a Synology NAS and a PC with sufficient resources without improvement. I do have MusicIP tags, but not images, written into the files, in case the size of tags matters. I would love to use iPeng to take advantage of Sugarcube/MusicIP auto queuing but so far it has proved unusable for longer than 20-30 mins. I assume the player reads ahead and attempts to cache the next queued song but do not see any way to manually download anything to the phone. A desirable feature, if feasible, could be caching an entire playlist to the phone before starting the drive. To have iPeng player work freestanding with just cached data without any connection to LMS would be ideal but I have seen posts rejecting that possibility. I'd love access to cached music with skeletal info in an "offline mode" without the full power of the database. guptaas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21096 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
I have this same problem and it seems to happen only to Artists I have more than 100 albums of. And if if you click on one of the duplicates Albums it sometimes will add more of the same title. Also a bigger problem is that when you go into one of these Artist with over 100 albums, some of the albums Disappear.. 1. - Let me try to explain, I click on the Artist icon then go to the artist I want (Beatles, Stones, Pearl Jam, Springsteen, Various Artists - all have over 100 titles) all albums are there in the correct order. I then click on any album to open up. When I click to go back to All albums, some are gone!!!. If I back out again to the list of Artists and then go back again they are all there even the ones that disappeared. If I click on a different album, then go back they disappear again. It also seems to be the same titles that are disappearing so its not random. I canÂt for the life of me figure out why these albums are disappearing. I have the albums listed by year, for instance for the Stones some of the Titles that go missing are ÂEnglandÂs Newest Hit Makers, Out Of Our Heads, Now!,). I have checked the tags for the missing titles and can not find any thing that would make them drop.I have also noticed that if I count how many albums I have in that decade for the Stones 60Âs I have 20 albums, but the amount is cut in half when I go back. I looked in the amount for the next decade and noticed that the titles that disappeared is again half. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hi Just wondering what I'm doing wrong with iPeng - it's likely I'm misunderstanding the settings  When listening to music via iPeng on my iPad, I'll often get a call at work and have to pause the music. When I come back to resume a short time later, my queue has been cleared - I assume it's because iPeng has been suspended by iOS, killing the SqueezePlayer instance and therefore clearing the queue. However, I have 'Preserve Connection' on in my settings, which I thought was designed to overcome this issue ("keep the server connection open while going into sleep mode"). I notice there's also a Prevent Sleep Mode setting, but the help text for this implies it's to prevent the screen turning off. Thanks! pippin wrote: > Hm, weird, I haven't seen that one, will have to investigate whether I > can somehow reproduce this. > Could you tell me your Album-Artists settings from the LMS settings > menu? So itÂs not just me. It also seems to be the same titles that are disappearing so itÂs not random. 2. - On a separate issue which might not be an Ipeng issue is that after putting in the LMS update I have noticed that in the Artist list it only showed Album Artists. Before the update it showed All Artists both Album Artist and Track artists which is what I want. I went into LMS and changed it to 2 lists instead of combined. Now I have 1 Artist icon of just Album Artists and a 2nd Artist icon that includes Album Artists, Track Artists and Composers.. How do I get it back to just one list with just Album Artist and Track artists like it used to be? Or if that is not possible how do I get rid of all the Composers. I know I could just go and delete all composers but that would take me forever to go through every album. If anyone can please help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your suggestions, Paul but, having checked the regular LMS web interface, I find the problem remains. So unlikely to be an iPeng issue - as you write. However, I notice that at the top of the 'plugins' tab in the web interface, the following error: "Bad repository https://github.com/LMS-Community/lms-plugin-repository/raw/master/extensions.xml - Connect timed out:" Unfortunately totally incomprehensible to me so any clarification would be most welcome as this seems the likely cause of my problem. fmanchu's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33960 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

(And if it is, > does anyone have any suggestions about the best place to start?) > What type os Raspberry Pi is this (what generation) and what file format are you playing? Generally, sync between different player types works but it's a question of timing. Not so much computing power but the exactness of the timing on the player. Where you need computing power is on the server side. Older RPis had very bad timing behavior, that can cause some trouble but newer ones usually work OK. What can make things more difficult is also if the different players support different file formats, if one of them doesn't support something then the server needs to start transcoding. iPeng's limits are that it doesn't support sample rates beyond 96kHz, currently no OGG/Vorbis (because that causes issues with Spotify) and iPeng uses a bigger buffer than other players which can under certain circumstances confuse the server. For the latter, iPeng has a configuration setting in the playback settings. One other thing that often causes trouble is if you stream raw WAV/PCM for lossless formats instead of FLAC (which is the default in LMS). iPeng throws that data directly at iOS but iOS sometimes guesses the sample rate wrong and that can cause all kind of weird effects. If you set your server to transcode to WAV or PCM I'd recommend against that. That's pretty much all I can think of right now in terms of problems.

I'm posting this here first, as I know @pippin has experience with RPi players/servers. Ive been trying PiCorePlayer LMS on an RPi4 to stream to iPeng Players (on a couple of retired iPhones and an old iPad Mini). These synced fairly well together in various combinations. Ive just added a PiCorePlayer / HiFiBerry DAC2 Pro player, which is working OK by itself; but Im having trouble syncing it with one or several iPeng Players. Theres sometimes sudden loud distortion, sometimes stuttering, and sometimes the stream just stops completely. I know that synchronising is computationally demanding. I know ipeng include an equalizer for the local player, but would it not be great if it included a parametric equalizer? Or would that not add much to the available equalizer and its sound quality? I updated the LMS to version 8.2.0 and looks like it solve the issue with iPeng Playback , but now the maximum bitrate that I can get with iPeng Playback is 96Khz, as with LMS 8.0.0 I was able to get 192Khz. Does iPeng Playback should support 192Khz ? er1000's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71821 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hi , Trying to play one format like 192Khz and then selecting another track with different format like 88.2Khz without stopping the previous track , causing all kind of weird issues like cracking noises ,playing stops, and app crashing. If I am stopping the previous track and then playing the other format everything is good. I tried with few devices with the last iPeng version with the same results. I tried the same sequence with Squeeze lite with my computer and it is working correctly. I will apricate solution to this issue. er1000's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71821 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hi: I am using the new LMS 8.1.1 “dockerized” in my Synology 918+. I am very glad with it. I like all the new streaming features including the Spotify (spotty plug-in) but I have a problem that only it happens in iPeng (web clients and Squeezeplay work correctly) When choosing the Artists menu, there is an option for each artist to access the Spotify albums). This option does not appear in iPeng? Am I doing something wrong? What is happening? I agree. I use iPengs player capability a lot but with an Audioquest Dragonfly and headphones. Sending audio from iPeng to an AirPlay device uses the battery a lot and as you say introduces an extra hop. The AirPlay bridge approach is better if you have a suitable device. It will also allow crossfade which iPeng doesnt support.
