That's a good point! This option dates back to when all "My Music" was
local files. Nowadays it can be online tracks, too. I should probably
rename the option, or fix the feature to really only play local tracks.

Haha!... I just checked this and saw it said "my music only". Hmm...
then figured out: I had changed this more than a year ago - but never
released this name change. I'll do a quick 2.0.1 release to change the
wording.

How do I set DSTM/Last Mix to offer Qobuz as an option? It's not on my
list just last FM??? Thanks.

LastMix would automatically use Qobuz (and many other streaming services
- if configured) when mixing. There's no setting for this. Unless you
use the "LastMix - local tracks only".

When you choose - LastMix (local files only) - it seems it doesn’t
actually work on local files only if you have Online Music Library
Integration enabled. It actually seems to mean tracks in your library
including those from online services but not otherwise from online
sources.

This is NOT a criticism as that is exactly how I want it to work. Just
an observation as it may catch others out.

Perhaps a change to the label if / when other work is being done in this
plugin.

I'd misunderstood your plugin :)

I thought it used the user data and not the whole of lastfm.

That's correct. There's no need for your username, as these calls aren't
based on your "collection", but the overall data they have.

As to API calls beyond scrobbling I am not sure, but think not likely.

It wouldn't be easy to implement those features, as they require a lot
of data. How would you figure out the most important tracks of an
artist? You need to know what people listen to. Only using your own
dataset might be very limiting, and you'd end up listening to always the
same tracks, as you'd make your favorite tracks even more popular by
playing them as the most popular tracks etc.

It is something I use and there is no plugin, just me modifying the
files of the audioscrobbler plugin to allow it to scrobble with maloja.

LastMix uses API calls beyond the scrobbling. Eg. calls to get most

I’ve been listening all day via Pi and pCP to LastMix/DSTM from Qobuz
and unfortunately I did suffer a stoppage :(
BUT it was nothing to do with LMS it was my amplifier deciding to time

I will investigate properly during the week but in my case I think it’s
player specific. A Pi2 running pCP 4 on WiFi. It will play DSTM for a
few hours then stop at the end of a track and nothing further is added.

I say that I think it’s player specific as I have had an SB3 wired on

In both cases it’s DSTM/LastMix with local and Qobuz

Log file "LastMixError.log" uploaded to your Dropbox.

This issue most likely started after recently subscribing to Qobuz,
which is in addition to existing Spotify service.

Ok, could you this time please enable INFO logging for plugin.qobuz (no
more for lastmix), reproduce and send me another log file?

The LastMix log looked good - except for that error. But there was no
trace about where it might have come from. Maybe it's in Qobuz, rather
than in LastMix.

For me, it's a sync group of four players. The only way to get
DTSM/LastMix to start adding to the queue again is to restart
Squeezeboxserver.

I set INFO loging on plugin.quobuz and await the next failure.

It’s happened a couple of times in the last week where DSTM apparently
stops working with one particular player - a wifi connected Pi2.
I’d put it down to the player but now I shall do some further testing.

2020-04-12 Thread Michael Herger

I am using "Don't stop the music using last.fm

That would pick five random tracks from the current playlist, then ask
Last.fm's track.getSimilar endpoint
(https://www.last.fm/api/show/track.getSimilar) to return similar
tracks. Then it would try to find those tracks in your music library or
subscribed music services.

I mean that you could add for example a track with "Sweet, Keb' Mo',

Got it, thanks!

But there is one advantange with LastMix > Tags, for example chosing the
Reggae Tag, it will play "Blondie - The Tide Is High" even if it tagged
as Rock.

That song will not be played using
randomplay://track?genres=Reggae=1 and I don't think DSTM
will pick it either. I could tag that song with multiple genre but
that's a lot of work to go through the whole library.

Have you tried using Random Play as a seed. He has probably fogotten but
Michael added some code to Random Play to generate genre based seed
tracks.

randomplay://track?genres=Rock=1
randomplay://track?genres=Blues%20Rock=1

My Random Play settings are 5 tracks.
The above creates a 5 track playlist which then gets taken over by
LastMix/DSTM.
I have them as Favourites

This is a great app! I use everyday at work.

I have probably misunderstood how it supposed to work? But if check
LastMix (local music only) it "should" only select music from the local
library, it does that if I let DSTM kick in first.

If I restart the server it goes back as it was and I have to play ONE
(or more) song and let DSTM kick in and then I can go to LastMix >
select a Tag and it will create a playlist with songs from the local
libray.

I have change the setting to create a list with 50 songs instead of 5
and the result is a really nice playlist.

Ah! Never had any issues with LMS but it's probably due to some old

start over with a Rpi instead and use the NAS as storage only.

Please search QNAP specific threads: you have to somehow delete a file

conflict causes extraction of the plugin files to fail.

I have got the pluggin installed and I start a Track from Spotify and

Where does the music come from? Are you using any kind of streaming

Thanks. So after about 2 hours of searching I haven't found the
solution you are referring to. The only place where I find this
mentioned in this forum is here:

and the only fix is that the Archive::Zip will be included in the
following release of SSODS. Any additional information or help you
could give me would be greatly appreciated.

TBH I am almost surprised by how simplistic I implemented this: it's
only comparing URLs. Therefore yes, if you have the same song on two
different albums, you might end up with duplicate songs.

I'll have to review that.

it's possible to add an option like "don't play songs played in the last
X days" like it was in the smartmix plugin?

I don't want to go there. But it shouldn't repeat the same song within
one session.

2016-11-24 Thread onkelandy

He Michael!

Thanks for your plugin, I've been using it for several months now
without any technical problems. Right now I'm using 1.1.5 with the local
music only option.

What happened several times now:
- The same song was added twice in a row! Possible that it was different
versions but at least artist and title were exactly the same.
- Songs from the original playlist were added again. So I have an album
with 10 songs. LastMix automatically adds two new songs and after that
random tracks from the same album again. After four more other songs
there is one already played song again.

Would love to see some logics to avoid stuff like that ;) Do you think
it's possible to add an option like "don't play songs played in the last
X days" like it was in the smartmix plugin?

A bit off topic, but I had his same problem. I systematically went
through all of the plugins to find the culprit.

On my install I found that Picture Gallery (one of the default plugins)
was causing the random crashes. When I restarted LMS that plugin would
re-enable. However, when I remember to disable it the LMS is quite
stable again.

Hello,

I'm really enjoying the plugin since I discovered it today :)
Unfortunately for you Michael... using LastFM give me so much ideas,
that could be added to make it more fun and more powerful :D

Of course, like smartmix in the past, a way to modify the recipes should
be given in your exciting plugin !! (but you probably already knew it !)

Let's imagine that you make a party with friends, and thous friends (or
some of them) have a lastFM account too.
A "Present Friends Mode" might be a nice idea, no ?

The LastFM username of each friends present could be added to the
recipe, and the playlist could be populated with prefered artists and/or
tracks of each friend automatically.
LastFM API should allow it : user.getTopArtists / User.getTopTracks

Long Life to LastMix (and LastFM).

Thank you Michael (I won't hesitate to report issues if necessary)

I like to explore, but starting with Ahmad Jamal, Cyrus Chestnut and
ending with Reggea only is insane.
Can we have an option in settings to fix recipes with first picked
tracks instead default is dynamically changing?

There just was a similar question over in the Don't Stop The Music
thread. DSTM would pick a number of random tracks from the current
playlist. As more stuff is added, this obviously can lead into different
directions. It's a good thing for some collections, not so good for others.

Sorry for being so ambiguous - I'm in the IS industry, so I know how it
feels to be on the receiving end of a poorly-described bug report. I've
been using Lastmix for a few weeks now, and just love it. However, when
I leave it running for extended periods of time, the server just stops -
as in shows "stopped" in the tray control panel. The reason I posted
here is that Lastmix (and the version of 7.9 that supports it) are the
only system changes in a long while, so I guess I'm wondering if it's
implicated.

I've set the last.fm autoscrobbler and lastmix logging to debug, so I'll
do my homework before posting back.

All the way. It (actually: the DSTM plugin) picks five random tracks
from your playlist.

I ask because a couple of days ago I was using a particular player and
listening to some Bowie. I used the same player today but chose to
listen to some Prog Rock. I didn't clear what was left of the Bowie
playlist I just hit Play on my chosen album. Being Prog Rock it only had
a few tracks. LastMix gave me some more Prog Rock but also another Bowie

If you really don't want them to be included, then yes. You could
actually risk to get a Bowie only mix, if the randomness was picking all
seeds from that part of the list.

Michael,

I'm really, really liking Lastmix. it's integrating well with my large
library, and also pulling in a good sampling of Deezer tracks. What
specifically impresses me is the appropriateness of many of its choices.
For instance:

With the Echonest Smartmix, if I played Talk Talk's -Laughing Stock- as
a seed, it'd respond by mixing up a bunch of random 80s pop, which was
extremely jarring after listening to the sparse, ethereal album.

Lastmix, on the other hand, mixes in a bunch of strange, sparse music
that's WAY more appropriate to the seed.

Let's hope this good stuff continues.

After some investigation (including a dummy player and a skip to next

from "Albums" or Samplers it doesnt add tracks from my 12" 45 Maxi/Ep

Anyways its good enough.

LastMix is a plugin you'll need to install it over your settings/plugins
page.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] LastMix - Another mixer to feedDon't Stop The Music

2016-08-06 Thread oyvindo

@mherger,
I've activated DSTM and set it to use Spotify Recommendations, and does
play forever, but the mix is random as far as I can tell. It roams from
Elton John to Metallica and back to Frank Sinatra and then to Abba and
so on. There doesn't seem to be any logic in that. So I was pleased when
I read about Lastmix, but I can't find it anywhere in the DSTM option
list. Do I have to do something to get it updated?

Your LMS is outdated.

That means Pinkdot's LMS Version 7.9.0.161.1091 is not up to date?

If you get that error, then yes, it's not up to date. I think he updated
a day or two before I added that call.

But FWIW: I've modified LastMix to come with a replacement which should
work with older builds, too. It will print a warning in the log saying
that LMS was outdated. But you can ignore this for now. If you still get
it after the next LMS update, then something's wrong.

Make sure you got LastMix 1.1.3 or more recent.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] LastMix - Another mixer to feedDon't Stop The Music

2016-08-04 Thread Michael Herger

i just found some strange line in my server.log (set lastmix to info -
like you mentioned in the other Thread)

[16-08-04 18:59:17.4386] Plugins::LastMix::DontStopTheMusic::_checkTrack
(490) No local track found for artist: The Jackson 5

I do have 79 Tracks from The Jackson 5, tagged as TPE1 and or TPE2. All
are spelled exactly "The Jackson 5"

Ok, that's a bug. I did remove the article from the artist name in the
search term. I will fix that.

working. I am on LSM 7.9.0 - 161.1091 and Lastmix 1.1.1.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] LastMix - Another mixer to feedDon't Stop The Music

2016-08-04 Thread Michael Herger

now i am running the latest version. Starting with the exact same song -
but it seems lastmix goes into a fallback?

The Track is known by last.fm
http://www.last.fm/search?q=I+Had+This+Thing+(Man+Without+Country+Remix)

That's odd indeed. The API call for search would indeed find it, but not
the track itself. If I get rid of the " (Man without country remix)"
appendix, then it would be found, too. Unfortunately that's a question I
can't answer. it's something in the API handler.
