I think it’s always sorta changing. My New 650b Atlantis is basically a perfect
bike for me, and any dream custom would have a lot of overlap.
Right now, it’d be basically a 26 or 650b Cheviot with clearances for 2.5 tires
and v brakes. Or a lugged mountain mixte with actual mixte stays and no l
Sure, and that’s a valid reason (I’m playing devil’s advocate myself for the
aforementioned reasons), but it’s not a line in the sand. Especially for road
and all rounder style bikes. That’s a totally valid point of view.
If we are talking hunqapillar/mountainy/plus bike (which I thought we were
Id ask what the line in the sand leads to? I’d like to think that Rivendell is
smart enough and creative enough to own a minor mechanical change and figure
out a way to make it fit with their brand.
Somehow crust and bmc and many others have been able to remain unique while
embracing all sort
+1 on forks. I’d buy an Atlantis or hunq fork immediately and have someone
braze disc tabs on it right away. I know it’s weird, but I want a canti fork
and a disc fork.
(Also, if anyone has any recommendations for a custom builder who can make a
1in threaded disc fork that is otherwise identic
I can verify that the geo chart is wrong. When I was deciding between a 56
Atlantis and 56 hunq, I asked will for various measurements and the numbers he
gave me were different than the geo chart.

Yes I would.
I tried to avoid disc talk in the other thread because I know how these
conversations devolve and it seems like it definitely won’t happen.
That said, I think Rivendell is needlessly eliminating a huge market by not at
least being open to discs. A market that you can see others sli
It’s late and I’ve been inspired by lum gim fongs Willy nilly topic creation.
I’ve owned 2 sams, a hunq, Clem and Atlantis. Down to just an Atlantis now and
pretty happy. I’ve been thinking about what kind of model would get me to buy a
new rivendell again. So I pose the same question to you a
Gotcha. Well with both bikes and 2 wheelsets i've had stolen in the last 10
years, each cop has told me to watch craigslist diligently.

right, but if one did get stolen now, you'd probably convey that
information to someone (maybe here on the group, maybe a bike shop), and
that someone would probably ask you if you had checked craigslist. you
wouldn't just give up on it and wander the streets, right?

yeah. If you've ever had a bike stolen and don't check craigslist, you
either don't care to get it back or you are living in another age. the ad
can be re-upped with a click of a button. its not like you can only post
something on craigslist once. the fact that we are all talking about it

I don't know if i agree. A 3000$ bike, if truly and consistently left for
weeks on end (and not just at the times that the person happens to drive by
and see it), makes me think that something bad happened. Serious illness,
injury, death... something that is preventing the owner from coming back
I put 650bs on my wife’s bikes years before I went that way myself. The first I
bought for her were col de vie’s I think. I just got my first 650b bike with
WTB horizons. Solved a lot of the issues I had with over 40mm 700c
wheels/tires. Happy so far
