Pictures of the color from Mitch's Flickr page below. I love it. I think it's called Black Currant Pearl. I'll put a link for the PPG paint tool also. It's really neat. It's based on auto colors, so if you knew the make and year of a car color you like you can pull it right out.

I just received a black Riv cap too, and like you it fit odd on my narrow melon. Confused since it's the same Pace cap as all my others. I took a gamble and threw it in the wash on a hot setting and dried itnow it fits great. YMMV but for me it shrunk out the excessive depth of the thing.
