They are made by a climbing shoe company called Evolv. They call it
an approach shoe but it's really just a beefed up rock shoe. Despite being
super light and flexible, they work pretty well on the bike using a big
platform pedal like the VP's. Since the soles are sticky climbing rubber,
I love the large Saddleack, Erl. So easy to pack, strap tent et al on top,
and still access everything. When I add panniers for longer and/or colder
trips, I'll stuff the least frequently used items in them as they are the
most challenging to both access and remember what is where. WIth the
