configure is not finding the GTK+
libraries as it is happening with other source code I try and compile
too?
I contemplated using the libgtk-1.2.5 from gtk.org but am worried about
mixing packages.

Just when things are going okay...
My system locked up and I was forced to reach for the power button (while
using Evolution and downloading tonnes of mail).
The other thing I had done which I suspect is the real problem is change
some permissions on root:root files/directories
Exposed and have gotten a bit
carried away obviously.

so I cannot choose 2 sided printing from XPP.
If I use a2ps I can set -s2 and it prints duplexed OK.
Is there some other config I need to change? When I try and change the
