I have set up a pair of Netgear powerline networking adapters, because the WiFi card in my TV broke. That worked fine, but my amplifier was picking up noise from the mains circuit. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] END OF MY ROPE! "Can't connect to server..."
I too use a TPLink Archer C7 and find it to be an excellent router. I used to have frequent interruptions and inability to connect to the server when I ran LMS on my Windows 7 then 8 then 10 PC. Since I switched to using a Raspberry Pi 3 running PicorePlayer I have had basically zero issues. The most difficult part for me was getting it to see my music but once I sorted all of that out it has been running perfectly for about a year now. I have occasionally experienced some buffering when playing back some internet radio streams but that could very well be the radio station or brief slow downs in my internet connection causing that problem. In my setup my server that I use as a player also and my primary living room player (an Rpi running picoreplayer connected to a 7 inch touchscreen) are both wired but my bedroom Radio and theater room Classic are wireless. We have four iPads, two iphones and a Kindle Fire that all connect wirelessly without issues. I am not a computer guy and can't speak for technical reasons why but I believe that all of the bloat and background processes that Windows machines are constantly running probably interferes with LMS causing disruptions. Before you go spending gobs of money on Sonos I would at least try running LMS on an Rpi to see if your issues aren't related to your Windows PC. usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108745 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] END OF MY ROPE! "Can't connect to server..."
Cheaper to build Sonos? Not likely. One Sonos box will cost you more than a professional router, and I've found that reliable 2.4ghz wireless G beats unreliable 300/900Mbit AC and N networks every day. The time basis for these issues is classic cheap router syndrome, sorry to say. -Transcoded from Matt's brain by Tapatalk- -- Hardware: 3x Touch, 1x Radio, 2x Receivers, 1 HP Microserver NAS with Debian+LMS 7.9.0 Music: ~1300 CDs, as 450 GB of 16/44k FLACs. I think you mentioned something about a wireless bandwidth of 300mbps? I would suggest to set the 2.4GHz band to wifi-g only (54mbps, 20MHz channel width). Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Problems getting squeezeplay to work remotely over ssh
To summarise my solution I'd just like to note that it can all be streamlined by combining the socat and ssh commands on the client side into one script, and by adding the name of the server's socat script to the end of the ssh command. I also added 'killall socat' to the two socat scripts before the socat command. So on the client side I have: Code: killall socat socat -T3600 upd4- & ssh -L ... user@LMS-dns-address name-of-server-socat-script And on the server, the "name-of-server-socat-script" contains: Code: killall socat socat tcp4- This seems to work reliably thus far. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Upgrade Wifi - Mesh - Which one?
I have Netgear Orbi (router + 1 slave) because I had wifi reach problem but where I live in a large 3 storey Victorian redbrick with lots of chimneys (i.e. thick brick inner walls in every room) and wooden floors. Router and slave communicate using one 5MHz channel but positioning of the units with a line of sight not through brick was essential for throughput. Even with the Orbi I need a homeplug to reach a corner of an extension due to foil backed insulation sheets on walls. Before I got the Orbi I used an Asus RTN66U which did a very good job using Homeplug to allow me to position the router in the optimum place rather than where ISP connection comes into house. If the flat is on one floor with concrete walls then unless you can get line of sight between the units and not going through concrete - homeplug would be a better idea - if only to reposition the main router . bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108746 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
