I found the reason to be software players (squeezeLite) on two different
machines which was running in background and was not shut down properly,
even though the foreground app had terminated. Rebooting these machines
eventually also made the players

I'm trying to get LMS7.9 run on my QNAP HS-251 which is a Intel Celeron
DualCore CPU.
My first problem is to decide which tarball file to use.
Is the QTS operating system a Unix version, A Linux version or a Debian
version?
(And what is FreeBSD?)
Any help is much appreciated.

to UPnP players (renderers). All tracks (MP3) play ok, and all controls
work ok (volume/pause/play), but there is no albumart and it says: no

Oh, I agree. The Docker solution is superb.
I too have a "retired" TS-119 still running and with LMS installed, but
not running anymore.
My favorite combination though is the Philippe's Castbridge plugin which

Logging on directly to SN is no problem. Please also recall that I've
been ok using LMS in docker for almost a year. This began after the most
recent update of LMS. I'm not thereby saying that I think there is
something wrong with Michael's work. For

before. Chrome just opens the first file and begins playback.

Cover art should preferably be JPG 500x500 and you get the best result
if you store it in the ID3tag of each track and not at all in the
folder.
When stored inside the ID3 tag, the album art will show up correctly on
all types of players with the ability to display graphics.

screen where it says that a new version is available and that LMS needs
to restart - and so I do, every time, and I have - for years.

LMS version 8.2.0 has been running very stable in my container
environment since, and I'm very pleased with it.
After all, the DB contains some 10k albums with more than 130k tracks.
Still it is surprisingly responsive and handles multiroom sync

I run LMS in a Docker container and I have over 9000 albums. Startup
takes less than 15 seconds.
