"even a blind squirrel can find a nut from time to time" meaning, I had no idea how to solve your problem, but took a shot in the dark at something to try and it might have helped. By using browse, you should be able to go right to the subfolder you want to set as the location of your music or playlists. I was wondering if maybe your paths "looked right" but weren't. So, my thought was, by using browse you are sure to set the right paths. In the case of Ronnie pointing you to Mr C, the inability to go to the subfolder indicated where your problem is. The great thing about LMS is it is so powerful and flexible. But that comes with a price, there is allot going on and a lot to learn and understand. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help with LMS on NAS and PiCorePlayer
What Synology version are you running? At this point, the easiest solution is probably to install LMS on the RPI. And then network mount to the Synology using a CIFS share. On the Synology: 1) In File Services, enable SMB. I think everything can stay default 2) In Shared Folder, find the Share that has your music on it. Edit it, and goto permissions. Make sure your user account has read/write access (Write is only needed for saving playlists) 3) You need to know the IP address of the NAS, and then the name of the share as seen in the Shared Folder listing. Then on pCP Web interface. 1) Dont install LMS yet. 2) Scroll down, and Install Additional Filesystem Support 3) Then in the Network Disk Mount, Enter fields a) mount point, some simple generic name to mount the music...i.e. Music b) IP address of your NAS c) Share name from your NAS Shared folder listing. d) Share type CIFS e) Username/Password, This is from your synology device of a user that has permission to the Shared Volume on the NAS. f) In options, put this. vers=3.0,uid=1001,gid=50 g) Increase the Max Wait time to 300 or so (This needs to be long enough for your NAS to startup from a power outage) h) Save it. Once the network is mountedthen you can go ahead and install LMS. Make sure you have expanded your file system plently large enough. a 750gb music partition could easily use 5-10gb of space while optimizing the database. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Much has changed, just in the past few years, and recent changes are not necessarily well documented, because many are still works in progress. For starters, you might look at the LMS section in the 'Squeezebox wiki' (https://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Logitech_Media_Server.html). Just be aware that much of what's there is now out of date, There's still some good information there, but it will be hard to know which is still good. It will, however, give you some historical perspective, if you're interested in that. As for getting to know LMS as it works today, the best way I can think of is to load the LMS web interface as I mentioned previously at LMS_IP:9000 (NOT in a mobile browser!) and then use the link at lower right to go to the Settings page. Explore the tabs on the Settings page. Many of the options available there have information boxes that will pop up when you hover the mouse pointer over the "i" icon. There's a lot of useful information you can find that way, and it's (mostly) guaranteed to be current. And when you encounter something baffling, you can always ask about it in these forums. LMS is controlled mainly through its web interface, accessible on your local network at the IP address of the device running LMS, port 9000. So try http;//:9000 in the web browser of your choice. However, be aware that the default interface does not work well at all in mobile browsers. For starters, it's best to use a desktop (or laptop!) browser. Once you install the Material plugin, you will have the option of using a mobile-friendly interface. LMS 8 nightly running on Raspberry Pi OS. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help with iTunes in Docker on Synology
There were a few things that needed to be changed to get the iTunes plugin working. There may be easier/better ways to accomplish this, but this worked for me. *My environment* DSM version 6.2.3 Docker version 19.09.0-0513 LMS installed from lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver:latest (version 8.1.8) iTunes library share located at /volume1/ITunes/iTunes *User/Security* -- LMS was running under a non-existent user id and group id. There were a few steps needed to resolve this. - Created a new group named "SqueezeBox" using the Synology Group screen (Control Panel -> Group -> Create). Gave that group read/write access to the Tunes share that contains the iTunes library/media/etc. - Created a new user named "SqueezeBox" using the Synology Group screen (Control Panel -> User -> Create). Added this user to only the SqueezeBox group. - SSH'ed into the Diskstation and entered the following command in order to display the numeric user id (uid) and group id (gid) for the SqueezeBox entities just created . On my system the uid is 1029 and the gid is 65537. Result from command "id SqueezeBox": uid=1029(SqueezeBox) gid=100(users) groups=100(users),65537(SqueezeBox) *Docker Configuration* -- - If LMS is running in Docker stop the LMS container. - Edit the LMS container - On the "Volume" tab add two mappings: - Click on Add File, browse to the share containing your iTunes library (.xml file) and select your "iTunes Library.xml" file. In my case that was "/volume1/ITunes/iTunes/iTunes Library.xml". Enter "/xml_file" in the mount point field. - Click on Add Folder, browse to the share containing your iTunes media and select your iTunes Media folder. In my case "/volume1/ITunes/iTunes/iTunes Media". Enter "/music_path" in the mount point field. - On the "Environment" tab - Change the value of PUID to the user id previously retrieved via SSH (1029 in my case). - Change the value of PGID to the group id previously retrieved via SSH (65537 in my case). - Apply the changes. - Start the LMS container. *LMS Configuration* -- - On the iTunes tab of the LMS Settings page - Ensure "Use iTunes" is checked - Enter "/xml_file" in the "iTunes Music Library.xml Location" field. - Enter "/music_path" in the "Tunes Media Folder" field - Apply - At this point you may want to delete any duplicate files you put in your /docker/music and docker/playlist folders (assuming all of your music is in your iTunes library). (I had copied a few files there in order to ensure LMS was working properly without the iTunes plugin.) - On the "Basic Settings" tab of the LMS Settings page change the "Rescan Media Library" drop down to "Clear Library and Rescan Everything" and press the Rescan button Once the Rescan is finished all of your iTunes media should be in LMS. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help with Wav Files
My guess is that whatever program you used to create the WAV files has written the tags in a format that LMS does not completely understand. This is not uncommon for WAV files as there is no real standard for WAV tags. LMS will read "RIFF" tags written into WAV files. You should be able to fix this using Mp3tag (https://www.mp3tag.de/en/). Open a folder of your WAV files into Mp3tag, verify tags, and save the files. This should write the aforementioned tag format. Run a "clear and rescan" library rebuild in LMS to confirm. If it works, do the same with your remaining WAV files. Another option is to convert the WAV files to FLAC or ALAC both of which have native tag support readable by LMS. Hi all, further to the above, I've now found that I have to restart LMS about every 3 days otherwise the track skipping behaviour mentioned above starts. I do this by adding or removing any Plugin that I'm not using, forcing a restart. After that, it's fine... for about 3 days. Anyone else have that? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help - LMS / Tidal has become skippy
Now everything works again. I tend to think that most probably the cure was a complete reset of the ADSL router, although I did also disable all LMS plugins Im not using, set the network radio station buffer and timeout values to maximum( 30s), disable AAC format, and set Squeezeplay to proxied streaming. Each step seemed to make the Tidal stream better, but it was only after the router reset that it started to work without skipping tracks. I still get the occasional buffering and timeout, but on the whole its liveable. Thanks to all of you who gave this problem some thought. Hopefully this will help someone out in the future. There are people here with the skills to almost certainly resurrect your SB Radio (or help you bring it back it life yourself). As you have seen, LMS can indeed act as a UPnP server. I suspect that you would find the menu system more difficult to navigate from a UPnP device but you would still be able to use the LMS web interface or other controllers. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help! New router isuues
Its an ASUS RT-AX88U replacing an RT-AC86U as its 2.4Ghz WiFi had died. I think I have solved it with your prompts on the IP range so I checked all settings again there. I dont know how I managed it but I had set up DHCP server to start at 192.168.0.50 rather than 192.168.0.2. My server and SBs have reserved addresses in that range (that I had copied from outgoing 86U) and Im guessing that was causing the partial working. That solved the wired SBs but the wireless ones were still playing up. After playing with various settings I found that they didnt like Asuss Smart Connect (smartly (?) switches clients between 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi). Switching that off allowed them to connect again. 30 mins uptime so looks promising! Thank you for the help all - much appreciated. Thanks for the replies. Server IP is the same and the players are physically set to control themselves rather than another. Ive tried resetting too - same result. Players say they cant see LMS but I can send music to them via LMS on a browser or iPeng. It is really odd - never experienced anything like it! I am going to try an older firmware on the router next. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help! New router isuues
This is not likely the problem, but double check that on the Touch players (which is what I assume you have given they have a display and you can use them to control), make sure the selected player is the actual physical unit. That is, a TOUCH can also be used as a controller for another player, so its display would relate to the other player, not the TOUCH itself. *Home:* VBA 4TB (2.5)>LMS 7.9.2>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.4)>LMS 7.9.1>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (ethernet, Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>LMS 7.9.2>Squeezelite *The Wild (no internet): *PiCorePlayer 4.0 on rPi 3B+, hifiberry Dac+Pro, 4TB USB (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpa > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110922 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help! New router isuues
Does sound odd. Is the new router at the same IP address as the old one? Does your LMS server have the same IP address as it used to have? Forcing one of the hardware players to reset might be easiest. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Special_IR_Keys_on_Reboot_for_Factory_Reset_and_Last_FW Paul Webster http://dabdig.blogspot.com Author Radio France (FIP etc) plugin Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110922 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Du hast alles Dir mögliche getan, so what?!
