Adobe's corporate blog indicates that Flash will no longer be maintained
or distributed after the end of 2020. See

Danny, the (lat/new)est version from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.
Currently, it is at 32.0.0.330. FYI, Adobe usually release a new version
every second Tuesday of each month. Once in a while, there is no new
version and a new version not on the second Tuesday of the month.

Where is the email from, and what are you doing when you receive it?

The web site should show a notification when it requires Flash.

A news feed in the SeaMonkey Mail window that requires flash should

Okay, I just wanted to clarify, because Mozilla doesn't offer plugins,
and doesn't have a plugins site. :)

The page at Tools-->Add-ons_Manager-->Plugins lists the plugins you have
already installed.

Plugins are offered by third-parties, and are not installed by
SeaMonkey.

OK, so I think you're saying the "Update Now" button is supposed to take
you to the 3rd party site, instead of showing a "blocked" message, and
further to this, that plugins are not to be confused with 'extensions',
which can be installed from addons.mozilla.org.

I'm saying that the plugins listed are not being offered to you; they
are the plugins you already have installed.

If there is an "Update Now" button, I don't know where it is supposed to
take you. I can't test it right now. Where does it take you?

Chris, as explained in my original post, I'm talking about "Tools :
Add-ons Manager : Plugins". When I try to update from within SeaMonkey,
it offers an out-of-date version and says it's "blocked". I think it's
pointing to the site https://addons.mozilla.org/

Okay, I just wanted to clarify, because Mozilla doesn't offer plugins,
and doesn't have a plugins site. :)

The page at Tools-->Add-ons_Manager-->Plugins lists the plugins you have
already installed.

Plugins are offered by third-parties, and are not installed by SeaMonkey.

As noted upthread, when a plugin is outdated, Tools | Add-ons Manager |
Plugins will have a link to "Update now," which unfortunately doesn't
take the user to the publisher's update page, but to an explanation of
the reason for the block. This should be fixed.

What Mozilla plugin site are you referring to?

Per exemple https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
Where we can see:

Adobe Flash Player
Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

v. 22.0.0.209 vulnerable

That's what you have now, not what they're offering.

I go to Tools - Add-ons Manager - Plugins -
Show me for Shockwave Flash - a line with
- a red text: Shockwave flash is known to be vulnerable and should be
udated
- a link labelled "Update now".

This link Is WHAT SM OFFER ME .
If I click on it SM brings me to that page:
https://blocklist.addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/blocked/p1274

INSTEAD OF "Update" the plugin to have a non-blocked one.

OK, you're right that following the "Update now" link from Tools |
Add-ons Manager | Plugins does misdirect you to the explanation of the
reason for the block. That's not what we were discussing, but yes, it is
a problem and I agree it should be fixed.

It is the complete FP23x. It is not a 1k stub. I moved it to another

Perhaps it is regional and you and Desiree are not allowed to download it.
I don't know. It has always worked for me. Since this is a SM group I
assumed that you were trying to install the NPAPI version and not the MSI

If you are trying to install in IE then you will need the MSI version.

btw, I reverted to FP 18.0.0.375 stable version since v23 would not run

A possible solution to this on Windows (outside of SM) is to visit
http://www.adobe.com/licensing/distribution/strategies/sms.html
click the download link (of interest) ending in "SCUP.cab"
You should now be able to extract the XML file from the CAB file using 7-Zip

There is only one way to download the full exe since the distribution

Yes. What you have is outdated and vulnerable so it's blocked.

I think it's pointing to the site https://addons.mozilla.org/

If you click the link at the top, "Check to see if your plugins are up
to date," you'll be taken to
<https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/>. Below "Common plugins you
should check often," you'll see "Adobe Flash Player" listed with your
current version and a diagnosis (mine says "up to date," but yours will
probably say "outdated"). You'll also see, below that, "All plugins" --
click that to diagnose all your plugins.

At any rate, if your version of Flash is outdated, you'll see a big
orange button, "Update now." That will take you to the Adobe page where
you can download and/or install the latest version. My personal
preference is to save the installer, close SM, and then run it from my
download directory; YMMV. By the same token, my personal preference is
to reject the bundled software (McAfee, Chrome, whatever); YMMV. When
you're done, Adobe will launch SM and send you to a thank-you page. You
should re-run the detection routine (CTRL-SHIFT-A) to confirm that you
now have the latest version -- if all is well, it will now say "up to
date" and "Always activate."

Adobe installation process.

I go to the Adobe download page, click download, save to hdd, and install from
there.
It works great and I have a copy that I can send to the other computers via the
LAN.
I use my firewall to block flash from phoning home. There is no online install process.
It's quick and easy.

It's blocked because that version is out of date. Current version is
23.0.0.162. You can try Check for updates in the add-ons manager. If
that doesn't work your only alternative is to go to the Adobe site and
use their process.

Yes, I'd been using the old URL to get to the MSI files, but they've

My distro is Linux Mint 17.2.

While looking through my Software Manager application for something

Re: Adobe Flash player v18.0 b203 plugin crashing?

2015-07-13 Thread Ant

I am not crashing but I can no longer go to full screen any more.
However, I am on SM 2.36. It's likely something that's not fixed in
2.33.1 that is in later version of SM. You could always try the 2.35
contrib build
(https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~akalla/unofficial/seamonkey/nightly/latest-comm-release-windows32/)
which *should* wind up being what is basically built from FF 38.1ESR
release to be released soon. Keep your installer for 2.33.1 handy in
case you need to revert back.

Is that an official build that QA testers are using for the final release?

I think so yes. It was Phil Chee who was mentioning it being built in
the How Dead is Seamonkey thread from a couple days ago.

Pasted here for your info:

Bug 1177041 - (SM2.35-Uplift) Bugs / Patches to be uplifted to
comm-release for SeaMonkey 2.35

https://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey/StatusMeetings/2015-07-07#Roundtable_-_Personal_Status_Updates
https://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey/StatusMeetings/2015-07-07#Ratty

Thanks. From those links, I don't see them mention about Flash?

I would imagine you'd have to dig through the Firefox bugs to see what
Flash stuff got fixed between FF36 and FF39. So what I am saying is
that between SM 2.33.1 and SM 2.35 (or 2.36), this crashing may have
been fixed but you would have to find out that info on your own.
Personally, I'm having good luck thus far on 64-bit SM 2.36.

It seems like Firefox and other Mozilla web browsers are having crashes
too. Also, Adobe will be releasing another version this week so I am
going to wait. I think this is an Adobe's issue, not Mozilla's and
SeaMonkey's.

I am not crashing but I can no longer go to full screen any more.
However, I am on SM 2.36. It's likely something that's not fixed in
2.33.1 that is in later version of SM. You could always try the 2.35
contrib build
(https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~akalla/unofficial/seamonkey/nightly/latest-comm-release-windows32/)
which *should* wind up being what is basically built from FF 38.1ESR
release to be released soon. Keep your installer for 2.33.1 handy in
case you need to revert back.

Is that an official build that QA testers are using for the final release?

I think so yes. It was Phil Chee who was mentioning it being built in
the How Dead is Seamonkey thread from a couple days ago.

Pasted here for your info:

On Tuesday's early morning, I upgraded my Flash v18.0 b194 in my old
Windows XP Pro. SP3's SeaMonkey v2.33.1 web browser. I noticed this
plugin likes to crash once in a while and I need to reload the web page
to reuse it. I tried clearing caches, restarting my web browser, etc. Is
anyone else noticing this too or just me?

I am not having crashes with the new Flash plugin. Maybe that is
because I use Mac OS (an older version of it)? I am also now using SM 2.35.

Haven't seen it on my Win7 system, FWIW.

But I have noticed over the years that the Flash installers often don't
remove older versions of the plugin. I have no special reason to think
that's a problem, but whenever I notice it I delete them.
