use a standalone radiobutton, you risk to confuse users, you
should use a checkbox for this, this is the standard use.

I believe SVG specs defined a function to calculate a path length, but I
am not sure it is implemented in ASV3, and even so I don't see how to
find the middle of the path, except by iterating perhaps.

And mouse events can be hard to track if shapes are overlaid, unless you

If really you are lost, I will try and do the maths, it is an
interesting problem.
Note: Since you are making closed shapes, maybe you can specify them
with polygon, with fill=none. This avoid to repeat the initial point

Any ideas for direction on how to accomplish this? Am I going to have
to write my own function that warps the text into the shapes they
want? I can't seem to find any sort of envelope or morphing
capabilities built into SVG 1.1.

I doubt ASV (or any other) is keeping a count of the pixels it fills...
