RE: excelle 2016

Hi Jed,

Have you uninstalled the set files for any previous version of Office and
then installed the Office 2016 sets?
This is done by choosing Factory Settings from within the File menu in the
WE control panel.
Simply select the set file package you wish to install or uninstall in the
list box, and then tab over to the install or uninstall button as necessary.

If you tab through the Synthesizers dialog box with your synthesizer
selected, you will encounter a combo box allowing you to select the sound
device to use.

Re: excelle 2016 not accessible?

Working from memory, I think I remember someone on the list suggesting checking 
the status of your scroll lock. If scroll lock is on, it might interfere with 
your use of Excel. Not sure if this is the cause of your issue.

The Office 2016 set files are available in the latest version of Window-Eyes. 
In the WE control panel, open the File menu and select Factory Settings. This 
will put you in a dialog that lists all set files and provides buttons for 
installing them.

I tried restarting Window Eyes again, and it actually worked this time. I 
have been trying that off and on all day with no luck. Whatever the reason, 
at least now it worked.


I know how to set up a hot key, but in Windows 10 I am getting nothing but 
Window Eyes reading Hot key field over and over, no reading of the contents 
of the field and no feedback if I try to edit the field in any way.

you usually get search box speech back if you reload w e.
the hot keys on the desktop are setup by opening a context menu on the icon

I didn’t change any settings before this occurred, at least none that I 
recall
or that had anything to do with the start menu and the taskbar, but Windows

has stopped reading the results in the search box. I hope that this is
something I can fix as it is making things much more difficult for me.

Also, how can one edit the hotkeys one has set up for shortcuts on the 
desktop?
I am used to starting up almost every application that I regularly use with

office 2016 help

Hey guys,
OK, so i have office 365, 2016 running on my computer.  I have 2 major 
problems.  When i have outlook up and running as i am arrowing down my 
messages, every message i go to, it goes ding dong.  It's a high to a 
low pitch sound, super annoying.
The other problem is excelle 2016 appears to be completely unaccessable. 
 I actually went so far as to create a blank excelle, and absolutely 
nothing.  Any ideas?

you usually get search box speech back if you reload w e.
the hot keys on the desktop are setup by opening a context menu on the icon 
then properties. then find the shortcut feild to create them.

Window Eyes has stopped talking in Windows 10 search box, also hotkey field issues

I didn’t change any settings before this occurred, at least none that I recall 
or that had anything to do with the start menu and the taskbar, but Windows 10 
has stopped reading the results in the search box. I hope that this is 
something I can fix as it is making things much more difficult for me.

Also, how can one edit the hotkeys one has set up for shortcuts on the desktop?

Sorry to write in a confusing manner.
Yes, you still have to ensure software is fully installed in order to
uninstall it.
The only exception to this rule is if you have access to a removal tool
specifically designed by the developer.

had to make sure something was fully installed, or I couldn't uninstall it.

was installed, and proceed to uninstall it then.
This wayk, you have a full installation of Norton to work with.
Another choice, if you don't like the system restore idea, is to install
Norton again from the web, again, with the goal of having a full
installation.
Of course, the removal tool should work just fine, and I've used it myself,
since it is very powerful.
However, my advice comes from my experience of the bad old days when it was
necessary to ensure a program was fully installed before you were able to
uninstall it successfully.
As for your Winamp playlist editor problem, I'd be happy to talk with you
via Skype or telephone, if you'd like help.
Simply write to me off list.

friend who might be willing to do a remote session with me and he may be
able to read the captcha that way.  I hate when these programs download this
extra stuff you don't want or need. To me, it should be a hell of a lot
easier to uninstall these programs. If norton insists on having a captcha
built into their installer, it should have an audio challenge button so that
blind people can listen, and get the job done a whole lot faster. It's
embarassing enough to ask for help, let alone having downloaded something
you didn't even need to. Outside of that, I have to say this new system is
running very nicely!  Window-eyes is still not reading a few things like
some text areas, and the Winamp playlist editor still remains to be silent,
but I have people looking into that.

True, you shouldn't have to ask for sighted help, but we don't live in a 
perfect world. Norton hasn't been friendly for blind users for over a 
decade, and they don't care.

Norton is a different type of thing.  I mean, just the fact
that they had to produce a special tool to remove their software shows
how bad it is.  Any good software developer should make it easy for the
user to uninstall the program, and leave no traces of the program
behind, you know just in case they might just wanna change their mind
and put the program back on.  Also, this captcha thing...don't even get
me started.  If they're going to protect their instalation with one,
offer an alternative. i guess the people at Norton don't think blind
people can use computers independently. I shouldn't have to ask for
sighted help.  Actually, the program shouldn't have even been downloaded
and installed onto my pc in the first place, but we won't go there.

To be honest, I had a sighted person solve the captcha for me. While this is 
frustrating, it is safe and quick. Norton never interfered with anything

I do believe we're just gonna play it safe, and go with the sighted
person working eyes route.  I don't know if I fully trust the system
restore way, because that would mean I'd have to install a few other

Well, I've gotten myself in quite a bind here, and I  don't quite know
what to do next.   A few nights ago, I downloaded a program that had
other software bundled with it, and one of the programs was Norton
Internet security, this is of course a trial version. I didn't want
it on my system so I ran a little program I use called Revo Uninstaller.
Most times, it can remove programs and go a bit deeper and remove
some registry entries and other files left over, without being
destructive to other programs.  With some programs, though, it has to
run the program's original installer. Can you guys see where this is
going?  I was somehow able to get the program to uninstall from my
system, but not completely though.  Unfortunately there are no
entries for it in the listing for programs and features, and after

Norton is a different type of thing.  I mean, just the fact
that they had to produce a special tool to remove their software shows
how bad it is.  Any good software developer should make it easy for the
user to uninstall the program, and leave no traces of the program
behind, you know just in case they might just wanna change their mind
and put the program back on.  Also, this captcha thing...don't even get
me started.  If they're going to protect their instalation with one,
offer an alternative. i guess the people at Norton don't think blind
people can use computers independently. I shouldn't have to ask for
sighted help.  Actually, the program shouldn't have even been downloaded
and installed onto my pc in the first place, but we won't go there.

My gut tells me to do a system restore back to the time just after Norton
was installed, and proceed to uninstall it then.
This wayk, you have a full installation of Norton to work with.
Another choice, if you don't like the system restore idea, is to install
Norton again from the web, again, with the goal of having a full
installation.
Of course, the removal tool should work just fine, and I've used it 
myself,

since it is very powerful.
However, my advice comes from my experience of the bad old days when it 
was

necessary to ensure a program was fully installed before you were able to
uninstall it successfully.
As for your Winamp playlist editor problem, I'd be happy to talk with you
via Skype or telephone, if you'd like help.

I don't currently have the plugin but I can get it for sure.  I don't
believe that would work though, because remember, Firefox has to be
running and in focus for the plugin to do its work, so I don't know if
that would do the job.

The  removal tool is a separate program that you download and run
completely separate from Firefox.

Anyone have any idea why excelle 2016 is reading absolutely nothing?  I 
am using we 9.4 on a win 10 machine, and excelle 2016.  When i press up 
down, left or right arrow, it's reading nothing on a file.  Better yet, 
to make excelle shut down, i have to go to the processes to kill it.

Still Having Trouble Getting WE to go through My Speakers

Hi, again, Folks.  I'm still having trouble getting WE to go through the 
speakers of my SoundBlaster Z-series card.  When I switch DecTalk 
Access32 to the card, and have the speakers plugged into the left 
rear/front jack on the board, it sounds garbled and muted.  The only way 
I can get We to be heard is to plug my speakers into the headset jack of 
the sound card.  All the other sounds play through the actual speaker 
jack, but not WE.  I've Set WE/DecAccess32 to go through the default 
card (which could also be a headset), and it works on that device, but 
not through the speaker jack of the sound card.  Any help resolving this

it on my system so I ran a little program I use called Revo Uninstaller.
Most times, it can remove programs and go a bit deeper and remove
some registry entries and other files left over, without being
destructive to other programs.  With some programs, though, it has to
run the program's original installer. Can you guys see where this is
going?  I was somehow able to get the program to uninstall from my
system, but not completely though.  Unfortunately there are no
entries for it in the listing for programs and features, and after
Revo Uninstaller ran and did the best job it could, unfortunately, it
removed the entry for Norton Internet security.  I looked in
c:\program files\(x86)

I have a Vocalizer voice assigned to a USB sound device.  On Start up,
Window-Eyes occasionally decides that it's routed to a different sound
device which, of course it isn't.

I'll be interested to know if you or anyone else has similar experience
of this.

You're suggesting a step back farther than I had.
You're suggesting returning to the time prior to Norton's installation.
Sure, you can try it.
Windows is reliable enough to allow you to undo the restore if if doesn't
pan out, or it will inform you that it isn't able to.

I thought about the system restore idea, it was actually late Saturday night
when the program was downloaded,  and I have heard many times that the
further back you try to restore, the less likely it's going to work. It's my
understanding that any software or windows updates you've installed will be
gone, so logic suggests that if I go back to the time 
before Norton got installed that it would be gone too, right?   If you 
do think it would be ok, I could always give that a shot.

directing window-eyes to go through a different sound device

excelle 2016 not accessible?

Well, I've gotten myself in quite a bind here, and I  don't quite know
what to do next.   A few nights ago, I downloaded a program that had
other software bundled with it, and one of the programs was Norton
Internet security, this is of course a trial version. I didn't want
it on my system so I ran a little program I use called Revo Uninstaller.
Most times, it can remove programs and go a bit deeper and remove
some registry entries and other files left over, without being
destructive to other programs.  With some programs, though, it has to
run the program's original installer. Can you guys see where this is
going?  I was somehow able to get the program to uninstall from my
system, but not completely though.  Unfortunately there are no
entries for it in the listing for programs and features, and after
Revo Uninstaller ran and did the best job it could, unfortunately, it
removed the entry for Norton Internet security.  I looked in
c:\program files\(x86)

and found the following folders.   Norton Internet security, and
Norton Installer.  I looked inside the folders, especially norton
installer thinking there was a way to uninstall it from there, but no

It takes awhile for the installation to run and depending on your internet 
download speed it may seem longer than you'd prefer.  Just be patient.

To find the individual applications, go to All Programs in Windows Seven. 
If you don't find an app, it should be similarly located under Windows Ten. 
Find the program and send a shortcut to your desktop and assign applicable 
shorcut key.

I think you'll have to get eyes to read that thing.  There was something 
similar some time back that I had the same problem with.  I quit allowing

Hey guys i have office 365, and just installed it.  I can not find 
outlook or excelle.  I am running win 10 and we 9.4, but i can not find 
it in the list of apps.  Any ideas?

I thought about the system restore idea, it was actually late Saturday 
night  when the program was downloaded,  and I have heard many times 
that the further back you try to restore, the less likely it's going to 
work. It's my understanding that any software or windows updates you've 
installed will be gone, so logic suggests that if I go back to the time 
before Norton got installed that it would be gone too, right?   If you 
do think it would be ok, I could always give that a shot.

easier to uninstall these programs. If norton insists on having a captcha
built into their installer, it should have an audio challenge button so that
blind people can listen, and get the job done a whole lot faster. It's
embarassing enough to ask for help, let alone having downloaded something
you didn't even need to. Outside of that, I have to say this new system is
running very nicely!  Window-eyes is still not reading a few things like
some text areas, and the Winamp playlist editor still remains to be silent,
but I have people looking into that.

I don't currently have the plugin but I can get it for sure.  I don't
believe that would work though, because remember, Firefox has to be
running and in focus for the plugin to do its work, so I don't know if
that would do the job.

 The  removal tool is a separate program that you download and run
completely separate from Firefox.

You might look at the Asus and Netgear brands.

The last Linksys I tried wasn't but the Asus and Netgear stock firmware seems 
to be accessible.
I also tried a tp-link archer and it also failed the accessibility test.  It 
wasn't fun to use and was promptly returned.

If you wanted to  install third party firmware on your router the DD-WRT 
firmware is accessible.
Just some thoughts.

Ok, when using nvda, and Jaws they work just fine with thunderbird.

Window eyes is the problem the thunderbird set files aren't even loaded 
you have to manually unload and thenload them before they are active.


But that does not fix the back space issue when ereasing what you have 
written.


I Know several people who are strong window eyes users that switched 
either to nvda or jaws.


Because of thunderbird issues, and browse mode issues.

Ihave been a window eyes user for more then ten years but as of late use 
window eyes very seldomly.

Unlike my previous laptop, this new one has the numpad on the keyboard 
whereas before, I used and external numpad.  In that situation, I was 
able to use the keys on the external numpad to move around on the 
desktop but with the new machine, I cannot.  However, if I hold down 
the shift key, then the numpad keys do allow the reading of items on 
the desktop and I can move up and down as well as left to right.  So, 
I think there is something amiss. Another reason I think there are 
focus problems with WE is that often WE will speak things from recent 
past, that is, it will speak either something from a previous web page 
or from another message.  So, I continue to have the same frustrations.

I have no idea if Virtual View will work on a captcha. If I'm not 
mistaken some of those on web pages are designed not to work with OCR in 
order to prevent elaborate bots from getting in. But it can't hurt.

I have no idea if Virtual View will work on a captcha. If I'm not 
mistaken some of those on web pages are designed not to work with OCR in 
order to prevent elaborate bots from getting in. But it can't hurt.

do you guys think it would be safe for me to delete the 2 folders in
question?  I did a bit of checking and it looks as if Norton, in its
infinite wissdom has disabled Windows defender, and there's no way to
re-enable it until I can get Norton off my system. Like I say, I never
actually meant to download the program but it came bundled with
something else and I've no idea how to rid myself of it. I don't
want to
do anything destructive, as this is a brand new machine running
 Windows 10.  Hopefully, one of you guys will have some answers.

Hi Jed,
Well, like you, I do experience many problems with TB.  In fact, not 
sure why so many think it is so great, I don't but I am using it.  I 
also think that there are a few problems with WE and focus both with TB 
and other programs.  One thing I have noticed is that often, WE does not 
have the proper set file loaded.  Just before writing this note, I was 
in TB with the mailbox list opened and I went to the WE control panel 
only to find that the active set file was Wineyes.set.  I have witnessed 
this behavior in other situations including when I write a reply to an 
email.  It is not consistent.  I just interrupted my composing to see if 
I could use arrow and numpad keys.  The left arrow and right arrow keys 
do move but not the up and down arrows.  Interestingly enough, the 
numpad keys do nothing except giving the frustyrating ding.  However, If 
I use the shift with numpad keys they seem to work properly and text is 
either selected or deselected.
I am currently running the latest version of TB and WE on a new Toshiba 
Satellite laptop.  I have been wondering if there is some peculiarity 
with the system settings for the keyboard.  I have found a setting that 
says "use the numpad keys to move the mouse".  I did change this setting 
but can't figure out what changes occurred.  Unlike my previous laptop, 
this new one has the numpad on the keyboard whereas before, I used and 
external numpad.  In that situation, I was able to use the keys on the 
external numpad to move around on the desktop but with the new machine, 
I cannot.  However, if I hold down the shift key, then the numpad keys 
do allow the reading of items on the desktop and I can move up and down 
as well as left to right.  So, I think there is something amiss. 
Another reason I think there are focus problems with WE is that often WE 
will speak things from recent past, that is, it will speak either 
something from a previous web page or from another message.  So, I 
continue to have the same frustrations.

Hi,
Best advice is to get a set of eyes to run the Norton removal utility.
Antivirus programs do some things that prevent programs like revo uninstaller 
to completely remove them.  It makes sense actually. You wouldn't want a virus 
to easily remove Norton.

I don't currently have the plugin but I can get it for sure.  I don't 
believe that would work though, because remember, Firefox has to be 
running and in focus for the plugin to do its work, so I don't know if 
that would do the job.

   The  removal tool is a separate program that you download and run 
completely separate from Firefox.

Chris, embarrased? Whey should you be. Just wondering if Windows
Narator might be able to read the stuff? I would just say to hell with
it and get some eyes. You don't want to do anything you can't reverse.
Just curious, would a complete re-installed of the OS help? Yes, last
resort, just realized that. :) If you have a friend who can help, you
might want to think about installing something like Splashtop or
Teamviewer, maybe someone could remotely do a fix.

Now for the bad news!!! In all casses I've come in contact with, the
Norton removal tool is the only thing that can help and remove
everyting with Norton. Hope that helps.

Hey on another subject, you were the person having the Winamp issue
right? Did you ever get that working?
